The association has alsobeen awarded with the Bronze Label of the EuropeanCluster Excellence Initiative by ESCA, the EuropeanSecretariat for Cluster Analysis.

Solartys participates actively in several Europeanfunded projects, specially focused on technologicaltransfer, networking, communication and capitalization.

The Solar Energy Institute Instituto de Energa Solar, IES- is a research Institute of the Polytechnic University ofMadrid -UPM- devoted exclusively to photovoltaic (PV) research.

It was created in 1979 by Prof. Antonio Luque, from the previous Semiconductor Laboratory whose activity inphotovoltaics started as a major one in 1975.
