Dr. Daniel Cook, a practicing anesthesiologist, spent over 8 years developing the patented ILA, an improved supralaryngeal airway. Placement is easy, air movement is outstanding and intubation, using standard oral endotracheal tubes (OETT’s), is straightforward and reliable.

• The ILA can be used as your routine airway.

• The ILA allows for Intubation using standard oral endotracheal tubes, (sizes 5.0 - 8.5).

• Clinicians can easily remove the ILA with the ILA Removal Stylet without dislodging the ET tube.

• The ILA is reusable and can be autoclaved up to 40 times.

• The ILA Removal Stylet is reusable up to 10 times. The stylet is not autoclavable.

• Airway Connector Ridges Improve Tube Seal.

• Oval Shaped, Hyper-Curved Airway Tube with Decreased Airway Tube Kinking.

• Reusable ILA.

• Auxilliary Airway Hole.

• 100% Latex Free.

• One Piece Mask Construction.

• Keyhole-Shaped Airway Outlet.

• Mask Ridges

• Innovative Tip Design.

The ridges below the airway connector improve the tube seal. They also allow for easy removal of the connector duringintubation through the ILA.

The oval shape accommodates standard ET tube, (sizes 5.0 - 8.5), allowing for intubation. The hyper-curved airway tube better approximates the anatomy of theoral-pharyngeal passage eliminating thetendency to “over bend” and kink the airway tube.

Up to 40 autoclave cycles.

Improves air flow and prevents suctioneffects from drawing the epiglottis insidethe airway tube. The unique design gentlyelevates the epiglottis up allowing directaccess to the laryngeal inlet.

The Reusable ILA is manufactured with medical grade silicone.

Eliminates unwanted seams.

Directs OETT’s midline toward the laryn-geal inlet. Also creates ample space forother medical instruments used for intubation.

Once the ILA cuff is inflated, the maskridges move against the posterior larynximproving the anterior mask seal. Thishelps isolate the esophagus reducing thepotential for aspiration.

Approximates the anatomic shape of theposterior pharynx creating increased air-way stability, smooth insertion andimproved airway alignment.

CookGas® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway and Removal Sylet

ILA Removal StyletThe ILA Removal Stylet is designed for the quick and easy removal of supralaryngeal airways followingoral-tracheal intubation through such devices.

The Stylet was specifically designed to be used in conjunction with the Intubating Laryngeal Airway (ILA).

With its patented design, the Stylet stabilizes the previously-inserted oral endotracheal tube (OETT),and allows controlled removal of the ILA without dislodging the OETT from the trachea.

30 Day Manufacturers Warranty (ILA)

(A.) The taper allows the stylet to accommodate standard OETT’s in multiple sizes (5.0 - 8.5).

(B.) The ridges engage the OETT in a firm, secure grip, giving the user control of the OETT during theILA removal process.

(C.) The grooves allow spontaneously breathing patients unimpeded air passage within the OETTduring removal of the ILA.

(D.) The struts allow a more secure grip on the stylet during the rotational movement of insertion.

The reusable ILA Removal Stylet is manufactured with polypropylene for use up to 10 times.

The Stylet is not autoclavable.

A Fiber Optic Laryngoscope Blade That Fits On YourStandard Handle,

is waterproof, and gives you more light!

Use your own standard handles with this blade. Save on the cost ofa new one. The engineering in the 2001 FIBERLIGHT®Laryngoscope kept the bulb in the blade.

By positioning the light in the bottom of the blade, flickering, cor-rosion and the possibility of a loose bulb entering the oral airwayhas been eliminated.

Equally important, there is no longer a hot bulb in the oral cavity. Also, the bulb is easily accessible for checking or removal.

BLADE HANDLES

#19-00-340 This handle allows the blade tobe positioned and locked in four differentpositions: 180,o 135,o 90,o standard or 45o

(Howland Lock Angle). In the 180o posi-tion, the blade can be introduced parallel tothe handle when extension of the neck iscontraindicated because of cervical spinefractures or instability. Visualization of thelarynx is also facilitated in obese patients orthose in halo traction. In the 45o position, all advantages of the Howland Lock areachieved. The handle accepts two “AA” batteries and fits all hook-on type laryngoscope blades. The overall lengthand weight of the handle is approximatelythe same as that of a conventional handle.

ABLE TOLOCK IN 4 DIFFERENTPOSITIONS!

HOWLAND LOCK

#10-73017 Natural lifting action simplifies laryngeal exposure, making intubation possible even in the most difficult cases.Built-in leverage prevents prying andreduces the possible loss of broken teeth.Adapts to all types of hook-on laryngoscopehandles and blades. Can often make anotherwise certain tracheostomy unnecessary.

Miller

The most popular of the straight blade types. The side of the flange is reduced to minimize trauma andthe curve at the beak or tip is extended to improve lifting of the epiglottis. These improvements facilitategreater exposure of the larynx in difficult-to-intubatepatients.

Huffman Prism

Clipped to the vertical wall of an Adult size 2, 3 or 4 MacIntoshBlade, this device is used when the view of the vocal cord isimpaired during nasal intubation and for post-operating examinationof the larynx. It consists of an optically polished prism which provides a refraction of 30o. To prevent condensation, warm theprism before use by immersing it, (attached to the laryngoscope) inwater at about 48oC (120oF).

The Phillips Laryngoscope® Blade integrates the straight Jacksonblade design with the curved distal tip Miller design, providinggreater visibility and an almost direct line approach to the tracheaduring difficult intubations. Unique lamp mounting provides deepillumination downward and inward, while the low profile flangereduces the risk of oral damage.

Mercury/Upsher Blades and HandlesThe Upsher Fiber Optic Laryngoscope Blade consists of a metal body and a stainlesssteel clad fiber optic light guide. A stainless steel screw fastens the light guide to thebody of the blade. Should you wish to remove the light guide for cleaning, loosen thescrew until you can remove the light guide from the blade. The light guide is composedof several thousand glass fibers encased in a stainless steel sheath and cemented inplace with a heat-resistant epoxy glue. This construction permits sterilization by autoclaving, immersion in alcohol, soap, betadine or glutaraldehyde. The light guide can be sterilized by itself or when attached to the body of the blade.

If the light guide, whether attached to the blade or not, is autoclaved, it should beallowed to cool at ambient air temperature. Sudden cooling can damage components.NEVER submerge a hot light guide into a cool liquid, as it will cause a fracture of theglass fibers due to thermal shock. Before autoclaving, ensure that residues such asbetadine are thoroughly rinsed away.

STERILIZATION OF BLADES: (DO NOT REMOVE BULB.) Gas steriliza-tion. No aeration is required after gas sterilization. Sterilize at 250degrees F (121C) for 15 minutes or at 273 degrees F (134C) for 3-1/2 - 18 minutes. (DO NOT EXCEED.) Wrap and avoid contactwith other instruments. Never cool suddenly but allow to cool atambient air temperature. Sudden cooling can damage components. Never put the light guide through an ultrasoniccleaner. The body of the blade, with the light carrier removed, may be put through an ultrasonic cleaner. Do not immerse thelight carrier in any product containing Potassium Hydroxide, suchas Metriclean. If scrubbing of the light carrier is necessary, whether attached to the blade or not, abrasive tools may causescratching on the light guide which can lead to decreased light

quality. Tools with nylon, bristles, or soft cloths may be used. Donot use steel wool or wire brushes.

CLEANING: Upsher Universal Handles may be soaked in soapywater or alcohol ONLY, with batteries in place. For autoclaving orsoaking in betadine, glutaraldehyde or any other solution, the batteries must be REMOVED. If in doubt, remove batteries.

If you wish to use a cleaning solution or method which is notdetailed here, please contact Mercury Medical to confirm that theproposed procedure will not damage laryngoscopes or handles.
