ActivitiesOmnicom coordinates activities for students outside the class, to further language acquistion and to allow students to take full advantage of their Canadian experience. We begin locally, with walking tours of the city, and evening activities with the teachers and staff. There’s something for everyone in both Calgary and Toronto. Our counsellors and staff are on hand to guide, direct, and advise. With this introduction, students can explore the culture and customs at their own pace.

Welcome to Omnicom Calgary 07Calgary (pop. 1 million) is the fastest growing city, the fastest developing business centre and the third largestmunicipality in Canada. It is also the city with the highest average income, highest educational qualifications, and thehighest number of computer users! Yet it still has all the advantages of a small city - friendly, welcoming people, safestreets and an easy transport system. Calgary is always ranked high among the world’s most livable cities by UNESCO.

Calgary offers many activities, attractions, events and sports so there is always something to do. Asian, Latino, Africanand other multicultural festivals, the Calgary Stampede, dynamic arts, music and culture scenes, exciting night life, NHLHockey, CFL Football as well as other professional sports and many in-city parks and pathways contribute to making thisa special city. Calgary also offers good value with great shopping – Alberta is the only province with no sales tax!

Calgary is situated at the foot of the magnificent Rocky Mountains. In summertime this means fabulous sightseeing and hiking around Banff, Lake Louise and many other beautiful places and in wintertime, incredible skiing/snowboarding at the Olympic ski stations. Close too, are the unique Dinosaur Badlands.

With a dry, moderate climate, Calgary has on average more than 200 days of sunshine a year. Summers are warm, and although winters can be cold, the Chinooks, warm and dry winds which blow down from the mountains, mean that the cold never last for long!

Omnicom School has an excellent downtown location, one block from the City Train with many bus stops right in front providing easy access to anywhere in the city. All city centre attractions and facilities are just a short walk away.

For all these reasons, Calgary and Omnicom are an increasingly popular choice for students from all over the world

What is ‘Homestay’?Homestay offers the opportunity to live with a Canadian family and to practice language skills daily. Omnicom carefully selects local host families to provide a safe, friendly environment.

Our Homestay Coordinator personally interviews all families and inspects their homes. Like all the support staff at Omnicom, the Homestay Coordinator is here to help your easy transition into Canadian life.

The Homestay Program gives students the opportunity to experience an added dimension to language learning. You will acquire valuable knowledge about everyday aspects of life, leisure, and culture in a modern Canadian city.

Your homestay hosts will welcome you into their household like a member of the family. Your famil will have your own key to the house, a private room that is comfortably equipped with a bed, desk, chest of drawers, closet, and proper lighting. Your family will provide two or three proper meals per day. The homestay family will most likely invite you to join them on various outings or excursions. You should take advantage of these opportunities to see the city and get to know your homestay family better.

Enrolment

Before coming to Canada, students planning to be in Canada longer than six months must obtain a Study Permit from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate in their home country. Students should have sufficient funds to study and live in Canada.

A letter of acceptance from Omnicom is required for your Study Permit. This letter will be issued to all students upon receipt of the completed registration form and payment. It is each student’s

responsibility to verify all visa procedures with the Canadian Embassy before his or her arrival. Students are also required to make arrangements for international health and medical insurance

prior to their arrival in Canada. We have several e-mail addresses to facilitate international correspondence and the exchange of enrolment information. For more information, visit our website at: www.omnicomstudy.com
