The contents displayed in Un film en train de se faire are part of the work developed within the same research and experimentation fra-mework for the last year. As such, by means of different techniques and codes, I explore the narrative possibilities of images. Through the intersection of heterogeneous images in this spatial frame, I enhance the narrative relationships that emerge out of these junctions. In order to achieve this effect, I rely both on concep-tual, and formal aspects. Likewise, the emptiness between each work should acquire senses comparable to those instantiated by visible elements the clash, or the connection gives rise to sense in the inters-tice, and that is where the potential for a story is realized. Therefore, this project’s framework of action consists on the direct reappropriation of devices that are natural to the realm of cinematographic montage, such as “sequences”, “juxtaposition”, “ellipsis”, “offscreen”, or “raccord”, among others. What interests me, most of all, is to explore the possibility of subverting the classi-cal methods of linear narration in order to break with the concepts of beginning/ending, and of space/time. This leads me to creating some sort of narration in which images (either painted, photographed, or represented by means of objects) function as the traces of a possible event. Simultaneously, out of the hybridization of different codes and disciplines, emerge a series of challenges to be faced, such as tho-se regarding the limits of the frame, as well as issues regarding the different planes of representation in relation to the various degrees of fictionality that they instantiate.

ATTENTION VIEWERS This film is an experiment in cinematic communication of real events.
Without the help of intertitlesWithout the help of a storyWithout the help of theatre
This experimental work aims at creating a truly international language of cinema based on its absolute separation from the language of theatre and literature. *
*Man with a movie camera (1929), Dziga Vértov.
This is Hadaly Villasclaras’ first solo exhibition. When I met her some years ago I immediately thought of that song by Radio Futura that goes “you’re enveloped in a scent of mystery” - this is something that still accompanies her, after all the years. It might be the inevitable French and literary origins of Auguste Villier’s Hadaly in L’Isle-Adam, onto which the present Hadaly is projected. It may be that game in which, just as a magician would, she surrounds us with her art. Or, per-haps, the hard looks with which she listens while she goes for a narrative that doesn’t allow for the inatten-tive spectator. Un film en train de se faire might never get to be a film but, just as Carlos Vermut’s comic books, they’ll be movies tomorrow. Perhaps her essence filters into that deliberate lack of an end-scene. Her works explore a place beyond representation. The gap between this game of languages and tech-niques that take us from paintings to sculptures, from the world of two-dimensional representation to the reality of all elements that share a space with us - our today, maybe our past, future, legend… When I enter the room, the tale’s time freezes that mountain in front of me. Fragment or repetition. cine-matographic road, Mullholland Highway shows a time in which something might have happened. Or it might still have not. Road movie, or landscape. The tale’s suspension tangles among paintings and photographs that highli-ght the gaps between them. Imagine a scene. 9:52PM. Not even the memories come with me. The forest is still there. Maybe be-hind the house. I see it shining. There where the tennis court will be. That Columna is the axis around which the clock hands will adjust. I’m stuck to the walls, trying not to fall. I move slowly, step by step, partly shedding off the centrifugal forces from this story’s infinite movement. One and a thousand beginnings. If on a winter’s night a traveller. Displacement or Elwood Avenue. These might be different endings for the same story. Hadaly Villasclaras tells us a story. Or could this be a film? Script, or storyboard. It’s true that something happened. We have the well-hidden Polaroid picture. An image showing and concealing. If I can’t stop the flow of all these images. The Room with the Columna has become a merry-go-round. A movie reel that projects in between the gaps that the film leaves in the can*. A murmur of the instants, perhaps. Nearly a dozen pieces including all the paintings, pictures and objects - combine to give rise to a sort of narration that takes us back to those movie theaters from the past, where the velvet is worn-out and the movies were screened - of course, with a certain French air. Avec de l’air de la France.
