This interface connects to the serial port and makes the computer believe that it is connected to a CBM printer. The data and control codes from the computer are translated into those that the connected printer expects to see.

By setting switches within the interface the printer will be able to print ALL CBM SPECIAL GRAPHIC SYMBOLS and SCREEN PICTURES.

Clearly not all printers can do this (daisy wheels can't ) but most current models are catered for and all types will at print normal characters and symbols.

BLITZ COMPILER (DISK BASED)

CBM 64 compatible compiler producing programs which operate MANY TIMES FASTER than the normal basic interpreter.

Enables a program written in Basic, or Basic and machine code to run at speeds approaching good machine code.

BLITZ translates programs into a special P-code with very low overheads. This P-code is executed much more rapidly than the original program. Moreover large Basic programs become smaller needing less memory and disk space.

Just tell the compiler the name of the program to compile and it will compile it to disk and produce a cross-reference file to trace any execution errors in your program back to line numbers.

BLITZ handles extensions to Basic such as SIMONS BASIC and will permit OVERLAYS and CHAINING with passed variables.

Compiled programs cannot be LISTED and security can be achieved by using a simple password routine so that any copies made will not run without the password. NOTE. compiled programs run independently of the compiler.

COMMUNICATIONS

As yet the C~1PUNET modem cannot download program files. For this you need a program called XMODEM and a standard modem linked via the RS232 interface (A0012) £33.00 inc.

The 128 owner can go on line in CP/M mode with exactly the same hardware requirements. You will need the CP/M and SYS file of 6th. Dec. 1985 since earlier versions do not recognise the RS232 port.

ICPUG has an excelent library of public domain software (freP to members otherwise £2.50). The disk CU3 has both the modified SYS to update your CP/M and IMP which is a very good terminal program for 128 in CP/M mode.
