SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION / CONFESSION Every Saturday: 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM When possible the Priests are available for Confession before Mass. Also by appointment by contacting the Cathedral Office.
VISITATION OF THE SICK AND ELDERLY Please keep us informed when a person is sick or in the Hospital. Contact the Cathedral Office in order to put his/her name in the Mass Intention list. If the person needs to receive the Communion, a Priest will visit or send an available Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister.

Our Mission Statement The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist Community is dedicated to the celebration of the Eucharist, the center of our life, to prayer, holiness of life and service to the poor. We have a multi-faceted community, greatly enriched by people from over twenty seven (27) countries, principally from Central America, South America and the Islands of the Caribbean. We strive to grow in our faith and love for God and one another in our service to our homeless and disadvantaged. We have a strong emphasis on evangelization through prayer communities, frequent Retreats and Missions.
We are profoundly dedicated to heed the call of Saint John the Baptist: "Prepare the Way of the Lord." (The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mathew 3:3) and "He must increase and I must decrease." (The

Declaracion de Nuestra Mision La Comunidad Parroquial de la Catedral Catolica Romana de San Juan Bautista esta dedicada a la celebracion de la Eucaristia, el centro de nuestra vida, a la oracion, al ejercicio de una vida santa y al servicio de los pobres. Somos una comunidad polifacetica, grandemente enriquecida por gentes de veintisiete (27) Paises Naciones especialmente venida de Centro America, Suramerica, y las Islas de el Caribe. Nosotros tratamos de crecer en fe y en amor a Dios y al projimo en nuestro servicio a los pobres, los que no tienen techo ni oportunidades. Hacemos gran enfasis en la evangelizacion a traves de comunidades de oracion, frecuentes Retiros y Jornadas Misioneras. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Every third (3) Saturday in English: 11:00 AM Every Saturday in Spanish: 12:00 PM Parents and Godparents must attend class prior to Baptism.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Arrangements must be made at least six (6) months in advance. Pre-Cana courses are required and are given in Spanish in March, June and October.

First Reading: Exodus 24:3-8 Moses explained to the people the commandments he had received from God. Upon hearing them, the entire community immediately agreed they would do as God had told them. Moses then sacrificed young bulls and sprinkled the people with their blood, calling it the blood of the covenant they had made.
Second Reading: Hebrews 9:11-15 Jesus did not offer God the blood of sacrifices, but instead he offered up his own blood to cleanse all people of the transgressions they had committed under the first covenant with God. Christ instead brought a new covenant, which, if kept, would lead to eternal life.
Gospel: Mark 14:12-16, 22-26 Jesus sent two of his disciples to prepare the Passover supper. During the meal he blessed bread and offered it to them saying, “This is my body.” He then offered them wine and called it his blood, “the blood of the covenant, to be poured out on behalf of many.”

“While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and
said, ‘Take it; this is My body.’ Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and
they all drank from it. He said to them, ‘This is My blood of the covenant, which will be
shed for many. Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day
when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.’ Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to
the Mount of Olives.”
Although we may remember many moments in the life of Jesus, His words, His teaching, His
miracles, His compassion for the needy and the poor, they have greater meaning when we
consider what occurred in the upper room. We know the details of the supper recalling the
Passover of the people of Israel. But all this changed as the meal drew to a close. Did those
gathered understand the significance of taking, blessing, thanking and giving, not just the
contents on the plate or in the cup, but the one who was giving Himself?
We who share in the gift of the Eucharist, reflect on His desire to stay with us in such a special
way. We are privileged to take the gift as we say ‘Amen’. We approach the gift with reverence,
we receive communion with deep faith, offer our own Eucharist, our thanks, and then bring Him
with us. When I pass the tabernacle where the sacrament is reserved, I pause and thank Jesus
that what He did was for me and all today.
SANTISIMA SANGRE Y CUERPO DE CRISTOPrimera Lectura: Exodo 24:3-8 Moisés explica a la gente los mandamientos que ha recibido de Dios. Al escucharlos, inmediatamente la comunidad entera acuerda hacer lo que Dios ha dicho. Moisés entonces sacrifica un toro joven y salpicó a la gente con su sangre, llamándola la sangre del pacto que habían hecho. Segunda Lectura: Hebreos 9:11-15 Jesús no le ofreció a Dios la sangre de sacrificios, sino que ofreció su propia sangre para limpiar a las personas de las trangresiones que habían cometido durante su primer pacto con Dios. Cristo les trajo un nuevo pacto, el cual, si cumplido, conduce a la vida eterna. Evangelio: San Marcos 14:12-16, 22-26 Jesús envió a dos de sus discípulos a prepara la cena de la Pascua. Durante la comida bendijo el pan y se los ofreció diciendo “Este es mi cuerpo”. Luego les ofreció el vino y lo llamó “la sangre con la que se confirma el pacto, la cual es derramada en favor de muchos”.
