Catherine Raynal est née à Poitiers en 1952. C’est une artiste-plasticienne décomplexée, montrant son univers intérieur sans mise en scène. C’est cette liberté qui — sans être spectaculaire — frappe par sa justesse et sa précision. Toute sa production, dessins, installations, livres brûlés, boîtes-mémoires, etc. semble par conséquent d’une très grande clarté et d’une profonde évidence. La simplicité déroutante de ses œuvres agit à la manière d’un générateur de présent qui se met à fonctionner dès lors qu’un regard humain se pose dessus. Impossible à dater par le style, le médium ou le propos, le travail de Catherine Raynal s’oppose de cette façon au temps qui s’écoule.
