Today is the 32 nd Sunday of Ordinary Time. Do we keep our lamps burning? This is something to ponder as we come together today to be fed again at the table of the Word and at the table of the Eucharist. I would like to welcome you here now as the people of God, the Body of Christ. You are very welcome. Let’s take a moment of silence to prepare for this Eucharistic celebration. Prayer of the Faithful For the Church – that the whole Body of Christ seeks wisdom and comes to see all life, all situations and all people through the eyes of God, the eyes of love. For the leaders of nations – that they act collectively to address the needs of a world struggling with storms and fires of unprecedented force and with biodiversity systems that are shrinking. For the world as it struggles to cope with Covid-19 – that people throughout the world will have an increasing sense of compassion for the elderly, the infirm, the homeless, the dispossessed and the poor. For parents and others who care for disabled children – that that they will be effectively supported by neighbours, and their local communities, and that wise and compassionate policy making by officials will support their work.
