Edmund Wickenheiser ‘56 (Service to Humanity).

Peter Barber and Brian McCaskey ‘86: Childhood friends turned business partners, Barber and McCaskey began their own start-up company in 1987 which transformed into Two Dudes Painting Company, a full-service professional painting com-pany with clients all over South Central Pennsylvania. Over nearly 30 years, Pete and Brian have grown their com-pany from a way to pay for college into a well-respected community business. Two Dudes has been honored by vari-ous organizations, the 2009 Ethics in Business Award and the 2014 John R. Mott Servant Leader Award for dem-onstrating support for others and a commitment to the community while modeling the value of servant leader-ship, are among a few. On a personal level, Pete is currently the Chairman of the Board for the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Lancaster City Alliance. Brian was recently honored when the CYO named the Coach of the Year award

after him for his years of service in coaching basketball.

Noelle Matta, CO, CRC, COT  ’97: Matta is an orthoptist specializing in pediatric diagnosis and non-surgical treatment at Conestoga Eye Care in Lancaster, PA, however her servant’s touch extends into other nations through her numerous mission trips to Honduras and Ecuador.  In just one of these trips, Noelle was able to examine and treat nearly 500 patients; this kind of far-extending reach is what inspired her, and her colleague Dr. Silbert, to launch the Kindersee Program at George Washington Elementary School. The Kindersee clinic offers eye care to any student, in any grade, in the School District of Lancaster by

Spring Magazine Preview

O ur 2016 Spring Magazine is right around the corner. Make sure to check your

mail the first week of May for the latest edition. We wanted to share a sneak preview with you so please enjoy this story on our Mock Trial Club written by Caitlin Paterson ‘16.

Being a part of Mock Trial Team is more than just learning about the various aspects of the law. It is a group of students who have the desire to work hard and push themselves to give a professional presentation in front of real, respectable lawyers and judges, in a courtroom as any real lawyer would. By learning how to write persuasive and attention-grabbing opening statements and unambiguous direct and cross examinations, members of the Mock Trial Team develop skills that they can use in any professional situation: how to work with a group, communicate, think on my feet, present effectively, and to have more self-confidence. To be a member of Mock Trial, you do not have to have aspirations of being a lawyer. It is a great opportunity for any student to learn the importance of always presenting oneself in a professional manner, to be

accountable, and the importance of hard work and dedication to a team.

I transferred to Lancaster Catholic this year as a senior. This was an enormous and unexpected change in my life. At my old school, I had participated in every club and was the captain of the Varsity soccer team, but here, I felt like nobody knew me. When I joined the Mock Trial Team I was nervous, but I quickly made friends. I realized that the other students on the team were very much like me. They were hard workers and good leaders that understood how important it was to participate in activities like this, even if you were anxious, and I made great friends on the team. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to be one of the attorneys for the team and to transfer to Catholic where I have grown into a much stronger young woman.

T here is no better way to encourage prospective stu-

dents and their families to con-sider all that Lancaster Catholic High School has to offer than to extend a personal invitation. We invite you to refer a friend and be part of the campaign that will allow faculty, students, and parents to invite great families like yours to join the ranks of future Crusaders!!

Campaign Dates: March 14 through April 29

Contest Rules: Every completed (form returned and fee paid) application we receive during the contest period as the result of a referral will qualify for this contest.  Applicant families must write in the name of the referring person/family on the top or bottom of the application form, for example:  “referred by:  Sue Smith” in order for the application to count for the con-test.  Only completed applications received by the Admissions Director between March 14 and 3:00PM on Friday, April 29th, are eligible.

Each prospective student may only be recommended once, and must enroll for the 2016- 2017 school year—students with already completed appli-cations are not eligible.

In the event that there is a tie in the number of referrals submitted, those recommenders will be entered into a drawing for prize allocation.

All families who refer at least one applicant will be entered into a drawing for a chance to receive a $250 gift card.

LCHS alumni are scattered across

the country and even around the world.  But no matter where their lives have led them, our Crusaders all share a common bond--and that’s the place they all call home.

That’s why we are working on a new project designed to help bring our Crusaders back together. This new Lancaster Catholic High School Directory will include comprehensive biological listings with contact information, career overviews, and family highlights of our classmates.  Plus, a special section about the school will help you reminisce as you read about our past and learn what’s in store for the future.

To make sure our data is as up-to-date as possible, our provider, Harris Connect, will begin contacting you by email and/or regular mail or by phone in March to verify that the information we will print is accurate and complete.  Harris specializes in alumni and membership publications and the data specifications involved with this type of project.  Harris Connect has worked

on and published at least 3 prior directories for LCHS.

Please help us make this publication full of the latest information about you and your fellow Crusaders!

To compete in a PJAS Regional Competition, students conduct a scientific research project in one of the 12 Scientific Categories of Research identified by PJAS and

then orally present that research to a team of judges at one of the Regional Competitions.

The State Competition of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science is held each May at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park.  All regional first award winners are eligible to compete at the state level.
