On Wednesday, Sept. 19, Causey students will
honor our veterans as they return from Washington
D.C. on Honor Flight VIII. The Causey Band will
be playing patriotic songs as they arrive at the
Mobile Municipal Airport and the CMS
Cheerleaders will be cheering. Prior to the flight,
the Causey National Junior Honor Society will
provide 120 goody bags for the veterans to take on
their trip. What special ways to honor our
veterans!

PTSA Fundraiser—
It’s Cookie Time!! The PTSA Fundraiser is under way!
All monies will be poured back into the
school benefitting our teachers and
students. Brochures for Otis
Spunkmeyer cookie dough were sent
home last week. Please contact your
child’s home room teacher if you did not
receive a brochure. All orders are due
by Monday, Sept. 17. Checks should be
made payable to Causey PTSA—you do
not need to collect sales tax.

Causey Cheerleaders Rock USM!
Causey Cheerleaders attended the UCA camp at
the University of Southern Mississippi this summer.
They were selected as Home Pom Champions,
Xtreme Routine Camp Champions and were 1st
Runner-up Cheer Camp Champions. Our award –
winning cheerleaders received all superior
ribbons and the Spirit Stick each day of camp.
Logan Lane and Marley Hall were recognized for
demonstrating leadership, spirit, commitment,
kindness, & motivation by receiving the “Pin It For-
ward” award.
Five Causey Cheerleaders were chosen as UCA
All-American Cheerleaders. Congratulations to
Skylar Beidenharn, Chandler Connick, Marley Hall,
Savannah Hall, and McKenzie Miller. These young
ladies have the opportunity to represent Causey by
participating in the Thanksgiving Parade in Orlando,
Florida on November 19-23.

Icecream Fridays Fridays are a great day for
a treat! Did you know that the
PTSA sells icecream during
P.E. each Friday? Icecream is
$1 each and there’s a great
variety. Don’t forget your

Alabama / Auburn Reading Challenge
Would your child like to go to the Iron Bowl
with two guests, visit the host university’s athletic
hospitality room AND go on the field during pre-
game activities?
If your child would like that chance, he/she
needs to enter the Alabama/Auburn Reading
Challenge sponsored by the Alabama Education
Association. To enter the challenge, your child
just needs to read 6 reading-level appropriate
books by October 19. A list of the 6 books your
child has read should be turned in to your child’s
language arts teacher by October 19. Your child’s
name will then be entered into a state-wide
drawing. If you have any questions, please
contact your child’s Language Arts teacher.

Parenting Tip for Parents of
Middle Schoolers
Talk to your child every day about school,
BUT don’t ask “yes” and “no” questions.
Ask questions that require child to answer
with more than a “yes” or “no” such as “What
did Mr. Brown say that was funny to-
day?”…”How do you think you did on your
Math test?”…”What games did you play in
P.E.”
Keep them talking—they really DO want to
talk to you!
