TEDx Youth San Diego is a day for students to share ideas, change lives, and connect with their peers from other high schools. We invite guest speakers from all the different fields who are making a posi-tive difference in the world to our event to speak to the students. Our salon experiences happen in be-tween the speaker sessions and they are interactive stations that display an idea or an innovation. We engage young people in creating a better future by inspiring them to change the world and become con-fident leaders. Our TEDx organizing team consists of teachers, students, and business leaders and we are committed to ensure that every student partici-pant attends the event for free and we also provide transportation to make sure that nothing gets in the way of them coming to our event. We invite 400 stu-dents from the different high schools in San Diego to our event that is on April 17th from 2pm to 7pm.

Tom Elliot was our Rotarian of The Day. He runds a Medicare company that assists clients in obtaining the best Medicare insurance solutions that they have available. Tom knows all the wrinkles in the rules and can work Medicare Magic.

Rick Binder introduced our Guests. Justin from Del Mar is a prospective member who found us on Google! Emma just moved to San Diego from the east coast for Law School and found us while looking for a sense of community. Divia and Bruce visited from Club 33. Other guests included Alex Monroe’s kids, and Susan Brown, and Sarah Hogue’s baby!

Rick Clark announced our Rotarians at Work day project on Miramar.    The  fish  pond  in  the middle of the Miramar base has docks that need to be cleaned and re-stained. After a rousing video presentation, overlayed with the boisterous tones of the Halls of Montezuma, we were all amped up and convinced that: This is a job for the Most Dynamic Rotary Club in the World! We’re doing the project on April 30th.

Frank McGrath announced the Ronald McDonald house project - We’ll be serving food to the partns of children who are receiving care at Rady Childrens’ Hospital. Project is Wednesday, May 4th from 5-8 PM. We need 10 volunteers.

Rick Binder announced our April 14th Scavenger Hunt! We’ll be in old town at The Living Room starting at 10AM. Looks like we have a lot of interest from the Club so we’ll have a great time!

Ellen Bryson received a letter from the Salvation Army thanking us for making all of the Easter Baskets. Happy Good Friday!

Bev says that McDonalds makes their milkshakes from potato skins. Your reporter suspects McDonalds would rather people didn’t know this.

We awarded Gloria Harris her Blue Badge! Congratulations Gloria!

4th of July Party will be at Bev’s house. Date is TBA.

Jaquie Reilly, our Membership Chair encouraged us to sell TICKETS to the Quintessential Festival, the La Jolla Gollden Triangle Rotary Club’s fundraiser on April 23, 2016!

Wayne Davis is wearing a beret. He explained that it’s because he’s applied for French Citizenship! Vive Le Wayne! He also mentioned that we need to all sign up for set up and take down jobs at the Quintessential Festival! So sign up. Vive Le Sign Up!

Andrea Brannan our Mighty Finemaster! Lori Bende put her

badge in the Downtown La Jolla Club’s box at the joint meeting at Braille. Frank McGrath received an education in Toms. Fary Moini won a recent game of Scrabble. Sure, she was playing people from New Jersey. But a win is a win.

Alex Monroe auctioned off a $75 gift  certificate  and  two  nights  at  a great hotel in Venice. Value of $675! Lisa Galstian won the auction at $525 and picked up a huge bargain. Next week we will be auctioning a Golf Day!

Our program was a remote conference with the Afghan Youth Connect, introduced by Steve Brown. Abdul Quam Almas and Ahmad Haroon Ahmadi showed us the work that they are doing bringing technology education to youth in Nangahar and doing many many other projects through their academy. (The Skype worked much better than it ever has before for one of these. The fact that the presenters were actual IT guys probably helped.)

Dr. Kelly Price Noble as the Campus College Chair for the College of Health Professions and the School of Health Servic-es Administration at University of Phoenix. Kelly is the Principal of KAPN Consulting, connecting people to people. Prior to that, she was a Clinical Researcher at the Vet-erans Affairs San Diego Health-care System, assigned to the Spinal Cord Injury Center; the Executive Director of Cal-Diego Paralyzed Veterans Association and the President of the Para-lyzed Veterans of America’s As-sociation of Chapter Executive Directors.

She graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a B. A. in English, French, and Third World Relations. She earned a Master’s Certificate  from San Diego State University in Com-munity Economic Develop-ment, a M.A. from the Universi-ty of Phoenix in Organizational Management, and a Doctorate in Health Administration from University of Phoenix.

She has more than 25 years in Public Relations, Television and Sales experience and was an Emmy Nominee for Gal-laudet University’s Fantastic, a television program geared toward children who were deaf and hard of hearing and a File Festival Awardee for her work on PBS’ Wall $treet with Louis Rukeyser.

For more than a decade, she was  affiliated  with  the  United States Navy as a member of the Navy Wifeline Association and several Navy Spouse Clubs around the globe including Agana, Guam and Rota, Spain. She received formal training as Causality Assistance Calls Officer  (CACO)  and  provided support with base activities in conjunction with Fairconron One & Two.

Lastly, she is Trustee at Fran-cis Parker School, serving as the Board Secretary and Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

She is married with two chil-dren in college.
