Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of Organizing committee, it is my proud privilege to invite you to

participate in the “Annual Conference of Cardiological Society of India, UP Chapter

(CARDICON 2020)” being organised by the Department of Cardiology, SGPGI, Lucknow on

“8-9th February 2020”. This is the largest cardiology conference in the state of UP.

Conference will have academic deliberations by eminent guest faculty of national and

international repute.

Venue of the conference is “SGPGI Convention Centre”. It’s a newly built state of

art facility. SGPGI is a premier teaching institute with world class infrastructure and has

produced some of the best cardiologists of the country. The sprawling lush green campus with

its spring blossom and chirping of a variety of birds would surely refresh the mind and body.

We aim to bring together physicians, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and technologists for an

interactive discussion, for better understanding of current trends in the management of

cardiac ailments. This meeting will touch almost all the aspects of cardiology, including clinical

cardiology, CAD, ACS, Lipidology, Hypertension, Heart failure, Clinical trials, Newer drugs

and Newer treatment option etc. Conference highlights include Training village, CPR

certification course, Hands-on echocardiography, Meet the Expert with personal interaction,

Quiz for MD / DM students, Special Prized Sessions, Special prizes for attentive attendance

of delegates etc. Technical staff meeting “CardioTech Conclave 2020” is also being

organized concurrently under the banner of UPCSI. The meticulously designed scientific

program would be clinically useful, academically stimulating and provide newer research

ideas.

This conference will be a perfect platform for the budding as well as experienced

cardiologists and physicians to interact with each other and share their experiences. I take this

opportunity to invite you to this beautiful city for an amazing academic feast. I am sure that

you will find the scientific programme intellectually stimulating and professionally rewarding.

PARIJAAT TREEVillage Kintur, about 38 Kms. east of district headquarters Barabanki was named after Kunti, mother of the Pandav. There are a number ancient temples and their remains around this place. Nearby a temple established by Kunti, is a special tree called Parijaat. There are a number of sayings about this tree, which have popular acceptance. One being, Arjun brought this tree from heavens and Kunti used to offer and crown Shivji with its flowers. The other saying being, that Lord Krishna brought this tree for his beloved queen Satyabhama. Historically, though these saying may have some bearing or not, but it is true that this tree is from a very ancient background. The following is said in the Harivansh Puraan about Parijaat. Parijaat is a type of Kalpvraksh, it is said to be found only in the heavens and, whosoever makes a wish under this tree, gets fulfilled. Whereby this unique Parijaat tree of Kintur holds a special place in the world. In botanical terms, PARIJAAT is known as Adansonia digitata and has been kept in a special category, because it does not produce either its fruit or its seeds, neither can its branch cuttings can be planted to reproduce a second Parijaat tree. This is a unisex male tree, the botanist say, that there is no such tree anywhere else to be found. The age of this tree is said to be 1000 to 5000 years. The perimeter of the trunk of this tree is

around 50 feet and height of around 45 feet.
