Board Message !Happy October, everyone!!!First of all, a huge "Thank YOU" to Paula Krupa and her team of amazing fundraising volunteers who planned, created and organized the Mountain Family Festival held on September 20th, 2014. The event was well attended, well run and was fun for all! Also, thank you to all of you who completed your volunteer hours by helping with the set-up, running and manning the activities, and answering questions. Your commitment to the daycare is greatly appreciated!!!Second, the board would like to thank the staff and management of the daycare. Your tireless work and support of the children and families of our organization is truly exceptional and we appreciate all you do!!!Finally, should any parents and community members be interested in joining the daycare board, our next full board meeting will take place Thursday, October 16 beginning at 6:15pm in the mini-gym of the daycare. !!Laughter & light, !!Alysa Amirault!Co-Chair !Canmore Community DayCare Society!!!!

Daycare News !I am very excited to write my first newsletter as Program Director for our 2-5 yr old program having recently returned from maternity leave.!
This month our children have been out and about making connections with the community. The delicious fall scent of cinnamon apples filled the corridors as a crock pot of apple sauce bubbled away in the mountain lion classroom made with fresh produce from the Farmers market. We had visits from Tracey at Wildrose dentistry to talk to our older groups about dental hygiene and Dominique from Public Health to demonstrate the importance of hand washing. The chickadees enjoyed a visit to the Pet store. The library programs recommenced with children attending the story-times and Tegan visiting the daycare centre to read stories in our classrooms. !
We have some exciting plans to celebrate Halloween and the entire daycare will participate in pajama day on Friday Oct 24th.!
Next month we look forward to music and movement sessions with Kids Can Do More .!

Parents Corner
With winter right around the corner, our kids' clothing quantities going to Daycare are going to increase exponentially with all the extra toques, mittens, snow boots and snowsuits they will be needing. If you have multiple kids in Daycare there will be even more stuff to manage. A handy tool I just recently discovered is Mabel's Labels. You can custom order labels for their clothes, sippy cups, and even shoes. You don't have to worry about ironing as there is a self adhesive option for clothing. I found ordering the labels with your last name makes the stickers more versatile (can even be used for a parent's gym shoes). News From The Before And After School Program !Looking Back On September:
We survived back to school! The children have adjusted well to their new routines and the Grade Ones are enjoying being in Eagles.!
We had a busy and fun September enjoying a lot of time outdoors with the nice weather…aside from the snowstorm we endured! We talked about the rules and expectations in Eagles as well as devoted some time to discussing Kindness and recognizing our friends for their kind acts.!
Coming up in October:
Fall is coming and with it Thanksgiving and Halloween….the children’s favourite! We will be doing some fun fall crafts and talking about what we are thankful for as well as a Halloween Party on Halloween! It will be a busy month.!

October 10th – ERS/OLS ½ Day October 13th – Closed for Thanksgiving Day October 24th – ERS/OLS ½ Day October 31st – Halloween!!
New Cell for The Marmots !If you need to get a hold of the Marmot program during program hours, please use the Marmot phone. You can call or text this number (403) 678-7570.! !The Eagle phone remains the same (403) 678-7755! !We would like to ask that you use only these numbers and not the personal cell phones of the program staff. ! !Also, please use these numbers and email if you have any information regarding your child's attendance in the Before and After School Program.! !I have also set up a new email account which I will start using this week. It is [email protected] so please respond to that email and send to that email as I phase out the hotmail account.!

News From Junior Kindergarden
We are so thrilled to have spent a few weeks with our new friends, in snow and in sunshine! !
The Junior Kindergartens are already developing their personalities in the classroom, making new friends and showing us all they can do. In the coming weeks, we will be exploring new outdoor areas and celebrating the offerings of Fall. !

Kathy, Alvin and Nathan continue to be our Angels and now their family needs Angels to shroud them with love and hope.!
Friends of the family have begun a trust fund to help the children of Kathy and Alvin Liknes, and the parents of Nathan O’Brien help cope with their sudden, tragic loss.!

Kathy and Alvin Liknes at The Canmore Ranch
Kathy and Alvin had a large family of 6 children that they were absolutely, devoted to and 12 grandchildren that were the center of their world.
On behalf of the O'Brien and Liknes families, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support in helping them cope with this tragic event. In moving forward, there are a number of expenses the families will incur. The expenses may range from memorial services to legal fees. This fund will help the Liknes and O'Brien families deal with these types of expenses.
Thanks for those who have already contributed to the Superheroes are Real Trust Fund at CIBC for the O’Brien/Liknes family. Your support is greatly appreciated.
