CCH Practice Management
Every year it seems we face more regulations, growing client expectations and lower
margins on our compliance work.
It’s a tough time for an accounting practice, so our practice
management system has to do more for us than simply record
chargeable time and print bills.
Partners and managers need to be able to plan ahead, assigning
work so we can avoid bottlenecks and meet deadlines. Staff
have to be able to keep on top of jobs, capturing chargeable time
quickly and accurately even when they’re out of the office.
Everyone needs information but no one wants to drown in data.
We want to be able to control what’s displayed on our screens,
so that each person sees exactly and only what they need for their
own work.
In short, our practice management system has to do much more
than just keep track of where we’ve already been; it has to help us
get where we want to go.

CCH Practice Managementthe solution from Wolters Kluwer
Allocate resources and manage workflow
Staff are the most important asset in any practice, but they’re also its greatest cost, so it’s vital they’re used
as efficiently as possible.
n Intuitive interface – A wallchart-style planner makes it easy to see where staff are working and what
they’re doing.
n Load balancing – Proper planning and resource allocation ease the strain during peak periods of activity
and allow the practice to respond to temporary bottlenecks caused by illness and absence.
n Reduced risk – Because staff and managers can continually monitor their progress, it becomes much easier
to manage and meet deadlines. Unexpected job overruns and unnecessary overtime can be avoided and
client satisfaction is improved.
n Skills matching – Staff can be allocated to client work according to the requirements of each job.
n Budgeting – Periodic budgets can be set for both chargeable and non-chargeable items, such as training.
Staff can measure their progress against budget, encouraging responsibility and increasing productivity.
n Bill approval – Bills awaiting approval can appear as workflow items on a user’s personal ‘home page’.
By simplifying the billing approval process, CCH Practice Management helps to improve practice cash flow
and profitability.
Use the wallchart-style planner to quickly spot resource conflicts and bottlenecks

Straightforward data entry encourages staff to keep timesheets up to date
Capture maximum chargeable time
You can encourage staff to keep their timesheets accurate and up to date by making it as easy as possible for them
to enter this information. CCH Practice Management offers a range of data entry options for both office-based
and mobile staff.
n Simplified entry – Simplified data entry encourages staff to keep timesheets up to date. Accurate and up to
date information means quicker billing and fewer write-offs.
n Outlook integration – Appointments entered in Microsoft Outlook can be turned directly into timesheet
entries. Staff can continue to use familiar, existing systems and the information only has to be entered once.
n Mobile staff – CCH Practice Management offers a range of data entry options to capture time and expenses.
For example, users can update information via the web browser on their smart phone or other mobile device.
n One-click entry – Appearing throughout the CCH ProSystem Suite, the Create Timesheet Entry button
instantly creates a timesheet entry for the current client, helping staff to capture even the smallest parcel
of chargeable time.
n Data synchronisation – CCH Practice Management supports intelligent inter-office data synchronisation so
that multiple offices can work as one. With information replicated across all locations, decision makers always
have up to date practice information
Generate bills quickly and easily
The Billing Wizard simplifies this all important task by guiding users through the entire process. The attention
to detail in this mundane but vital area speaks volumes about our commitment to improving the everyday working
lives of our clients.
n Simplified billing – The Billing Wizard steps you through the entire process and makes sure that nothing
is missed.
n Flexible billing – It’s possible to drill right down to the task level to allocate fees and write-offs. This allows
for complex billing scenarios and ensures that profitability is correctly allocated and recognised within the
practice. Different companies and offices within the practice can have their own billing templates.
n Professional billing – Bill templates are maintained using Microsoft Word, giving you full control over
formatting and layout. Spell checking and the option of single-click billing make it easy to produce professional
looking bills.
n Foreign currency – You can bill in foreign currencies and record receipts in the same or another currency,
saving time on foreign currency calculations.
n Accounting links – CCH Practice Management links to CCH Accounts Production or to a nominal ledger of
your choice so you can carry on using your existing practice accounting system
The Billing Wizard ensures easier, quicker and more accurate billing

practice managementcustomer perspectives
The home pages help me keep track of what’s
happening in the practice. I can keep an eye on
WIP, debtors, what people are working on and how
long they’ve spent on each job. Many of our clients
have been with the firm for a long time and they
don’t expect their fees to fluctuate too much, year
on year, so it’s important to avoid excessive
over-runs and write offs.
I’m solely responsible for the billing but there are
five other fee earners in the firm, so it’s very useful
to have this kind of information at my fingertips.”William McAdam

If timesheet entry is easy and quick it
encourages staff to keep them up to
date; late or inaccurate timesheets will
affect debtors days and write offs. With
CCH Practice Management, appointments
entered in Microsoft Outlook can be turned
directly into timesheet entries so the
information only has to be entered once.”Susie Liman

CCH Centraldelivering a competitive advantage
CCH Practice Management is part of the CCH software suite.
At the heart of this integrated software suite is CCH Central which combines
information from multiple applications on customisable ‘home pages’.
CCH Central redefines the meaning of
‘integrated software’. Data from across
the practice can be extracted, reported on
and used for CRM, business development
and practice management.
The intuitive, browser-style interface
makes it easy for everyone – even
occasional users – to use the software.
Because CCH Central operates across
the entire software suite you only have
to learn a function once to be able to
use it anywhere.
Data management
CCH Central eliminates wasted effort and eradicates errors with a single, central database so you only have to enter and update information in one place. And because CCH Central works across your software suite, you get a complete picture of your clients and your practice without constantly swapping between applications.
Reporting
Using CCH Central Reporting, even non-technical users can construct complex reports, simply by dragging and dropping fields. Data can be drawn from multiple CCH applications and presented in a single report. Simplified cross-client and cross-application reporting enables rapid data mining, opening up new markets and opportunities.
CRM and business development
CCH CRM powered by Workbooks is integrated with CCH Central so you can grow your practice and engage with your clients using the information and skills you already have. The cloud-based CRM system improves the efficiency of the entire marketing and business development process, from running events and capturing web queries to managing your new business pipeline and measuring the return on your marketing spend.
Managing KPIs
CCH KPI Monitoring enables you to manage business-critical events, deadlines and tasks occurring across all your applications. When a trigger condition – such as overdue information, excessive WIP or a completed tax return – is met, the software sends out an alert email which can include a report on the exact status of the key performance indicator being monitored. You can also use it to automate the production and distribution of regular practice reports.
Workflow
CCH Workflow allows you to manage tasks across your entire software suite. Workflows can be triggered by an event – such as setting up a new client – or by the completion of another workflow, and can be extended to interact with third-party systems. CCH Workflow helps you monitor deadlines, avoid resource bottlenecks and focus on managing end-to-end client relationships rather than just individual jobs.
