Before installing and using CCTV and similar surveillanceequipment, we need to establish the purpose orpurposes for which the intend to use the equipment.

These usually fall into four (4) broad categories:

1. SAFETY: Emergency Management & Building Maintenance

In general, there are no national legislative law related toCCTV in the Philippines (be it PD or RA). But there arelocal ordinances on a local level and by industry (ex.Banking, Critical Infrastructure, etc.)

1. Iloilo City – they have a CCTV Council that regulates and no business permit is issued unless comply with their city ordinance.

� Have I receive training about cumulative trauma?

� Do I know the telltale signs of repetitive stress and other workplace injuries?

2. Is there a law that governs the use of CCTV in the Philippines? What about your present workplace?(nationwide there is none, but locally there are municipal ordinance and by industry there is, and at my present workplace its none.)

3. What is the most important single document that you must have inside your control room? (the CCTV Code of Practice or CCTV Security Manual)

4. Which government agency regulates the CCTV operators?(CCTV Operator is a security job by profession, and therefore it is covered by RA 5487, it is PNP-SOSIA)

5. How would you know if the CCTV camera will be admissible to court as evidence? (CCTV video is produce upon request by use of court order and its integrity must not be compromise.)
