• Primary objective is the development of viable communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of LMI
• Program priorities developed by ECD, local governments and citizens
What is CDBG?
• “Small Cities” program administered by the state began in 1982
• Funding based on population, poverty rates, age of housing, housing overcrowding, etc.
• More than $542 million in funding to local communities since 1996
• More than 1300 projects in 370 communities since 1996

FY 2012 Schedule• January 30, 2012
– Last day to have local public meeting• February 3, 2012
– Submit final change orders• February 10, 2012
– Submit complete final budget revisions, final pay request from prior year grants
• February 17, 2012– Close-outs due from prior year grants
• February 29, 2012– Deadline for receipt of FY 2012 applications
How do we apply for 2012?
• November training for Administrators and Engineers
• Online applications??• Changes to the Environmental Review
process• Improved process for contract approval• More contact with the slow projects
What is coming up?
• 2008 projects that are already awarded are almost all cleared by HUD
• 2008 and 2010 applications that have been submitted are on hold
• Currently in the process of choosing an administrator to assist our office with the 2010 funds
• Expect progress again this month!
What about CDBG-D?
• Don’t forget about ARC and DRA• Very few changes for those programs for this
year• Call our office with any questions
