• Refining & Chemicals (RC) encompasses refining and petrochemical activities, renewable fuel and plastics from biomass and Hutchinson’s operations. It also includes oil Trading & Shipping activities.

• Marketing & Services (MS) includes worldwide supply and marketing activities mainly of oil products and services , but also of renewables incorporated in oil products, and of gas used for mobility.

Energy is an essential resource for the development of human societies. In view of the major challenges faced by the world today, energy producers have a key role to play. It is by relying on the support provided by its governance and a diverse shareholder base that the Group will be able to fulfil its collective ambition to become a responsible energy major and to supply more reliable, more affordable, and cleaner energy to the greatest number of people. To reach this goal, Total leverages its integrated business model, which enables it to capture synergies between the different activities of the Group, its operational excellence, its technological expertise and its capacity to manage complex projects. Total is following a clear strategy that is based on four main priorities and that integrates the challenges of climate change, using as a point of reference the 2°C Sustainable Development Scenario of the International Energy Agency (IEA):

• drive profitable and sustainable growth in Exploration & Production activities, with priority given to gas (the fossil fuel that emits the least amount of carbon dioxide) and with strict investment discipline to only develop cost competitive projects.

• Improve the competitiveness of major integrated refining and petrochemical platforms. • increase the distribution of petroleum products, particularly in high-growth regions, and offer innovative solutions and services that meet the

needs of customers above and beyond the supply of petroleum products. • expand along the full gas value chain by unlocking access to new markets, and develop profitable low carbon businesses, in particular renewable

energies and biofuels. Total intends to strengthen its involvement in the circular economy and implement a program of innovative responsible actions, particularly in the following areas: purchasing, waste management, new ranges of polymers, solarization of its own industrial sites and service stations and improved energy efficiency. Total has committed since 2016 to contribute to the 17 SDGs and has endorsed the United Nations’ recommendations and works on better identifying the scope of its contribution. The increasing scarcity of water resources may negatively affect the Group’s operations in some regions of the world, high sea levels may harm certain coastal activities, and the multiplication of extreme weather events may damage offshore and onshore facilities. The Group’s activities, mainly those of Refining & Chemicals, and to a lesser extent those of the Exploration & Production, Gas, Renewables & Power segments, may potentially have an impact on, as well as be dependent of, water resources. This is especially true when an activity is located in a water resources sensitive environment. Total uses the ground surface that it needs to safely conduct its industrial operations and, in 2018, did not make extensive use of ground surfaces that could substantially conflict with various natural ecosystems or agriculture.

Fresh Water is critical to Total’s activities. Total's RC activities represent 87% of Total 's freshwater withdrawals (excluding open cooling and rainwater). At refineries and petrochemicals sites, water is mainly used to produce steam and for cooling purposes. Water availability and quality are essential and will remain so for business continuity, as exploration and refining activities are by nature water dependent. Freshwater is also necessary for Total’s solar operations. Total’s supply chain doesn’t include water intensive products such as agricultural or mining commodity products. However, indirect water use’s importance is expected to rise with the development of new environmental norms and Total remains attentive to understand the dependence regarding current and future needs for fresh water of its direct operations and from its value chain. We strive to reduce reliance on freshwater sources.

Sufficient amounts of recycled, brackish and/or produced water available for use

The extraction of hydrocarbons produces large volumes of water. Smart, safe management of this produced water is both a business opportunity (treatment and recycling/reuse) and a regulatory necessity (compliance) to ensure a responsible approach towards local communities. The volumes of produced water and their discharge destination are accounted by the Exploration and Production branch, including the share that is immediately reinjected as part of the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process, and the share that is discharged to other water bodies. Total’s use of non-fresh water primarily occurs in once-through cooling processes, and for maintaining reservoir pressure in EP activities. As to Exploration & Production activities, brackish and saline water are mainly used for maintaining reservoir pressure in addition to produced water reinjection These types of waters are also used for once-through cooling purposes. It is therefore important for Total to access sufficient amounts of recycled or brackish water to pursue its activities. For the Refining & Chemicals activities, brackish water is also mainly used for once-through cooling purposes. As EOR and RC activities will remain core to Total’s activities, the availability of non-fresh water will remain important. There is no specific dependency to recycled, brackish or produced water identified in Total’s supply chain, as Total sources most of its materials internally. Supplied liquids (chemicals, feedstocks, water) are limited in quantity and are commodities available from different places. In 2018, nearly no vegetable oil was purchased.

Water withdrawals – total volumes

All the activities use the group-wide reporting system (HARPE) and environmental reporting covers all activities, sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. Data collection is planned annually at Group level and for few indicators on monthly/quarterly at Bus. Units. Total water withdrawal volumes, including breakdown by source, are measured and monitored at all our operated facilities, a requirement from our Group rules and a regulatory requirement in many countries. This indicator is subject to continuous monitoring. Water data at site level is managed through our group-wide (up to corporate level) HARPE system. HARPE allows to monitor 32 water quantity (source type, discharge recipient, for both freshwater and brackish) and 80 quality indicators. The system collects 95% of the indicators value. The 5 last % are available at site level. Future withdrawal volumes are not expected to change significantly since mostly coming from a stable business sector (Refi. & Chem).

Water withdrawals – volumes from water stressed areas

Total monitors water stress at all operated facilities through the Aqueduct tool. Areas with a BWS (Baseline Water Stress) equal or superior to 40% are considered exposed to water stress. AQUEDUCT Water Risk determines different levels of water stress, the BWS is the annual yield/availability ratio of the renewable resource. Overall water risk identifies areas with higher exposure to water-related risks and is a measure of the Physical Quantity, Quality and Regulatory & Reputational Risk categories. The volume from water stressed areas is therefore monitored for Total’s entire operations and those analysis are refreshed annually to provide a continuous monitoring. All the facilities use the group-wide reporting system (HARPE) and environmental reporting covers all activities, sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. These indicators are subject to continuous monitoring. Withdrawals volume in Stressed Area are not foreseen to change significantly as per today.

Water withdrawals – volumes by source

All relevant business units measure and monitor the breakdown of water withdrawals by sources, consistently using the water sources categories available in the Group’s reporting system (HARPE). The information reported annually on withdrawals is either directly measured or estimated by source, by fresh, brackish waters. More than 95% of Total’s water withdrawals is monitored. The 5 last % are subject to local information systems. However the Marketing and Services (MS) that is not directly involved in raw materials extraction, monitors its withdrawal (1% of the Group’s total) but does not specify source breakdown. Thus MS isn't integrated in the scope of this indicator. All the activities use the HARPE and environmental reporting covers all activities, sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. These indicators are subject to continuous monitoring. Data collection is planned annually at Group level. No significant change in the sources is expected in the near future.

Produced water associated with your oil & gas sector activities - total volumes

Water withdrawals quality

Total monitors, at site level, the relevant parameters of its water withdrawals to ensure that its human health and process requirements are matched. The indicators are consistently monitored through site level measurements and include standard suit biophysical parameters such as pH, water hardness, pollutant loading, salt content etc. These indicators are thus covered across all of Total’s relevant operations. According to the evolutions of drought events particularly in France, it is anticipated that the quality of withdrawn water could decrease.

Water discharges – total volumes

100%

All the activities use the group reporting system (HARPE) and environmental reporting covers all activities, sites and assets in which Total is the operator. Data is collected annually at Group level and monthly/quarterly at some business units. To optimize impact on water resources, Total’s units monitor their water discharges, except the MS segment where water discharge is monitored at key sites only, notably water injected to the ground. Water discharge is monitored with HARPE for 100% of relevant sites thus for 98% of discharges and is mostly subject to daily monitoring. MS Water discharge is judged not to be material as these activities represent a very limited share of the water withdrawal, (< 1% in 2018) and the water withdrawn is discharged to either surface water bodies or municipal water networks. However for two relevant MS sites (bitumen sites), water discharge data are accounted. No significant change in the total volume of discharge water is anticipated at the moment.

Water discharges – volumes by destination

Total’s business units report their volumes of water discharges by destination for each operated facility, except in the MS. However, the two most relevant sites in the MS segment (bitumen) report their water discharge by destination. For other MS sites, the water withdrawn is discharged back to surface freshwater bodies or municipal water networks. This indicator is thus monitored for 100% of relevant sites, for more than 98% of water discharge and continuously monitored mostly daily. Water discharge is monitored through the Group reporting system HARPE. The water discharge destinations in the HARPE include: fresh surface, municipal/industrial wastewater treatment plan, seawater, groundwater, wastewater to other organization. HARPE covers all activities, sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. Data is collected very frequently at site level (up to continuous basis) but aggregated annualy at HQ level. No significant change in the breakdown is anticipated so far.

Water discharges – volumes by treatment method

All water discharges are systematically treated as per Group requirement. The two most relevant sites in MS sector (bitumen sites) report water discharge by treatment. At other MS sites, the water withdrawn is discharged back to surface freshwater or municipal water. All activities use the group-wide reporting system HARPE that covers all sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. These indicators are subject to continuous monitoring on a daily basis. Data collection is done annually at Group level for more than 95% of indicators value and monthly at units level. Treatment typology depends on branches, water fluxes types and activities thus the treatment methods are directly or indirectly monitored through classification of water fluxes by activities available in HARPE. It is easy to analyze however not required for our Water Security Strategy setup. According to investment forecast, no significant change in the repartition by treatment is anticipated at the moment.

Water discharge quality – by standard effluent parameters

In accordance with its public targets to reduce the hydrocarbon content of water discharge at on and offshore sites, Total monitors this aspect. It is monitored in 100% (>95% of ind. value) of the group’s significant sites and aggregated at corporate level. For the sites representing le least 5% of the indicator, the data are kept at site level. The Group defined in 2016 a new set of environmental targets aligned with the 2010-2020 period of which to maintain hydrocarbon content of water discharges below 30 mg/l for offshore sites and below 15 mg/l for onshore sites. Total monitors to 80 quality indicators and those are subject to continuous monitoring up to a daily basis. All the facilities use the group-wide reporting system (HARPE) that covers all activities, sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. Data collection is planned annually at Group level and monthly/quarterly at business units. No significant change in the quality of our effluents is expected so far.

Water discharge quality – temperature

100%

The temperature of discharged water is monitored at Total’s operations when used for cooling but this indicator is not consolidated at Group level in the reporting system (HARPE), it is nearly systematically required by local regulation and even to comply to IFC monitoring programs for certain sites. Due to the heterogeneity of the requirement in line with different regulations and mixing zone definitions, this information is not consolidated at Group level and is kept at local level. This is one of the most closely monitored parameters. We are not expecting major non conformities on this parameter in the near future.

Water consumption – total volume

76-99%

All Total business units report their total volumes of water consumption for each operated facility in the group-wide reporting system, except in the MS segment where the water consumption is not significant. MS activities account for a marginal share of the Group’s withdrawal (1.9%), and the water withdrawn is discharged back to surface freshwater bodies or municipal water networks (which does not generate any water consumption). The two most relevant sites in the MS segment (bitumen sites) report their water consumption. Consumption is thus measured for more than 95% of the value of the indicator. All the activities use the group-wide reporting system that covers all sites and industrial assets in which Total is the operator. These indicators are subject to continuous monitoring up to a daily basis. Data collection and calculation is annual at Group level. Of note: Water Consumption is difficult to monitor very precisely due to the difficulty to measure accurately Rain Water income.

Water recycled/reused 100%

The vast majority of the water recycled/reused reported by Total in this questionnaire corresponds to produced water reinjected to the ground for reservoir pressure maintenance purposes and the water recycled at RC. These volumes are accounted for at group level. All the activities use the group-wide reporting system (HARPE) based on ENABLON technology and environmental reporting covers all activities, sites and industrial assets in which Total, or one of the companies it controls, is the operator. These indicators are subject to continuous monitoring on a daily basis. Data collection is planned annually at Group level and monthly/quarterly at some business units. As per today, there is no announced major investment planned that woud significantly increase the quantity of water recycled or reused at Total.

The provision of fully-functioning, safely managed WASH services to all workers

Despite the lack of a quantitative indicator on the proportion of sites providing all necessary water, sanitation and hygiene services, Total does have strict internal industrial hygiene rules on health risks management, including the provision of these services. Total’s global activities make the provision of services aligned with WASH guiding principles extremely relevant for its workforce, and therefore these aspects are closely monitored and part of the group’s annual audit processes. Total is committed through its code of conduct and the 2015 Industrial agreement signed by the CEO to respect the ILO convention which requests employers to provide employees with adequate work conditions, including access to potable water, toilet facilities. The audits conducted with Goodcorp since 2002 on this aspect have never revealed any issue. As a consequence, this aspect is closely monitored beyond WASH standards, across 100% of Total’s operations. These aspects are continuously monitored.

According to the questionnaire’s accounting principles (which includes produced water and non-fresh water as water withdrawals), Total’s total water withdrawal has been quite stable in 2018 compared to previous year, with a 3.6% increase in absolute terms (516,014 in 2017). This change is mainly driven by the rise in produced water volumes, due to variation in assets’ operations. Of note, this data is different from the water withdrawal indicator followed in Total’s annual registration document, which only accounts for the total fresh water withdrawal (Fresh water withdrawals excluding once-through cooling water and rain water = 116 million m³). Produced water is indeed fossil water and thus its cycle (either released in the environment or reinjected) is not linked to actual water ressource.

Total discharges 494,027 About the same

The total water discharge from Total’s activities has been quite stable in 2018 compared to previous year: +3.8% (vs. 475,918 In 2017), even though it covers different realities among the differents branches of Total as discribed in the next paragraphs.

The total water consumption from Total’s activities has been quite stable in 2018 compared to previous year: +1.8% (vs. 40,096 In 2017). This evolution mainly comes from a higher water consumption from the RC Sector, and is calculated as the difference between total withdrawals and discharges.

Total withdrawals - Upstream 233,998 Higher

The EP segment encompasses upstream activities. Its water withdrawals have been higher compared to previous year by +9.8% (213,065 in 2017). This increase is due to a higher volume of produced water, especially in relation with the recent inclusion of newly acquired Maersk assets in the perimeter. It is important to note that freshwater withdrawals, that represent the actual issue regarding water resource have decreased over the same period. No significant variation is foreseeable in the near future except those related to announced portfolio changes with increased production water.

Total discharges - Upstream 226,015 Higher

The EP segment encompasses upstream activities. Its water discharges have been higher compared to previous year by 11.9% (202,048 in 2017). This is mainly due to a higher volume of volume of produced water, which is either discharged to water bodies or reinjected. Total considers that the definition of reinjected water as a discharge is not appropriate for its EP activities, since this water is reinjected in a fossil reservoir, replacing oil, and thus not causing any harm of any nature to the environment. For these reasons, Total discharges indicator should not include water reinjected in oil reservoirs. Taking into account CDP definition, it is likely that the upstream discharge will increase due to new assets entering in production phases and announced portfolio variation.

Total consumption - Upstream 7,983 Much Lower

The EP segment encompasses upstream activities. Its water consumption has been much lower compared to previous year by -27.5% (11017 in 2017). This is mainly due to a lower freshwater withdrawals for reinjection purposes. An increase could happen in the future due to announced portfolio changes.

The figures provided relate to the RC segment, which includes both refining and chemical activities. Its water withdrawals have been stable compared to previous year (295,755 in 2017 - no evolution), in line with stable production volumes. We anticipate that the trend will remain stable.

The proportion of water withdrawn for sites located in water stressed basins is stable in 2018 compared to previous year. In order to identify the priority facilities, Total records the withdrawal and discharge of water on all of its sites and assesses these volumes on the basis of the current and future water stress indicators of the WRI Aqueduct tool (currently 9.83% of fresh water withdrawals take place in a global water stress area - 9.74% in 2017). The tool’s threshold to determine water stress level is widely internationally accepted as a standard. This corresponds to a “medium to high” level of water stress or higher. In addition, Total assesses water resources risk levels of priority facilities which are those that withdraw more than 500,000 m³ per year and are located in areas potentially exposed to water resource risks, using the Local Water Tool (LWT) for Oil & Gas from the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI). This tool also helps to guide the actions taken to mitigate any risks in order to make optimal use of water resources on these sites. Globally, the sites operated by the Group are not particularly exposed to water risk. By the end of 2018, out of the 24 priority sites identified, the level of water risk was assessed on 16 priority Group sites (11 Refining & Chemicals, 3 Exploration & Production, 2 Gas, Renewables & Power). Following this assessment, two sites were identified as being at risk and were reported to the CDP. This analysis process is expected to be extended to other current priority sites, including eight additional sites that have been identified.

Fresh water withdrawal from any source is important for Total primarily to meet domestic needs of employees, particularly in remote areas, but also for different industrial uses like open cooling loops or steam production. Total’s fresh surface water withdrawal was higher in 2018, with a 12% increase (49,479 in 2017). The vast majority of the fresh water withdrawals were taken by the Refining & Chemicals segment in 2018. At refineries and petrochemicals sites, water is mainly used to produce steam and for cooling. Following Total’s calculation, in 2018, 61,150 megaliters of water (including cooling processes) have been re-used (Upstream 58,917 megaliters + Downstream 2,051 megaliters + Other 182 megaliters). This represents an increase of 9.3% of total water reuse (53,907 in 2017). Through Wat-R-USE tool, Total is able to improve Water footprint and adapt reuse or recycling processes, especially in water stressed areas, where a need for water recycle/reuse is higher. For water issues we focus on 2 objectives: Limit fresh water use and protect water resources. We strive to validate Medium-Long Term strategies and alternatives for reuse of water during project development. Pilots in Argentina - Produced Water Reuse in Fracturing Operations: two pilots were completed in 2017 and 2018 in Argentina. The objective is the reuse of thousands of m3 of produced water in slick water phase and we are able to use 3% of produced Water in Fracturing Operations with a planned Increase of Produced Water Reuse and adaptation to local constraints. The foreseeable trend is thus an increase in reuse in non-conventional activities for example.

POLLUTANTS: Total places strong focus on water pollution risk management, especially potential contamination by hydrocarbons, chemicals and cuttings. Total’s potential pollutants are Hydrocarbon (HC), COD, COT, heavy metals, phenols, BTEX and PAHs. Potential impacts of pollutants mismanagement could include the alteration of local ecosystems and health impacts on local communities like direct toxicity to Human Being and fishes (high HC content) or eutrophication induced by high nutriment content (chemicals) in discharge water. ANALYSIS: The approach implemented to identify and classify potential water pollutants relies on the Dose Related risk and Effect Assessment Model (DREAM), which was developed as part of the E-RMS project involving Norwegian authorities, the Sintef and several O&G companies (including Total). This technology has been implemented since 2001 to model the EP segment discharges and identify potentially harmful pollutants for which impact has to be reduced. This model is subject to regulatory monitoring is some countries such as Norway, and its wider application to Total’s activities has resulted in corrective measures being implemented (e.g. a disperser installed at the Djeno site in Congo). This approach is applicable to both chronic and accidental pollutions (water discharge contents, accidental spills etc.), and take both human health and environmental impacts into account.

POLICIES: The Group’s activities may potentially have an impact on, as well as be dependent of, water resources. To manage the operational risks, the Group adopted a preventive and remedial approach putting in place centralized HSE and security management systems. The One MAESTRO reference framework has been rolled out since 2018. In addition, a Group directive defines minimum requirements:

• systematic identification of environmental and health impacts related to possible ground and surface water contamination

• assessment of groundwater contamination

• management of health or environmental impacts identified based the risk acceptability criteria recommended by the WHO and the Group. FRAMEWORKS: Total refers in its water pollutants management both to regulatory and industry best practices. Regulatory frameworks can be national/supranational (REACH or SEVESO) or international conventions (Barcelona Convention or OSPAR). Total refers to industry best practices in terms of water pollutants management, from organizations including the IOGP, IPIECA, CONCAWE. When regulations in place are less stringent than industry best practices, Total would refer to the latter. PREVENTION PROCEDURES: Total internal requirements state that environmental management systems of its operated sites important for the environment must be ISO 14001 certified within two years of start-up of operations or acquisition: 100% of these 71 sites were in conformity in 2018. And a total of 264 sites operated by the Group were ISO 14001 certified. Remediation operations are conducted by specialized entities created by the Group. At the end of 2018, 123 industrial sites that were no longer in operation (excluding service stations) were in the process of remediation. HYBRID BIOREACTOR: Since 2017, we made an evaluation of key parameters for the BIOMEM hybrid bioreactor design for an implantation on several facilities of Oil&Gas industry to reduce Hydrocarbon, COD and micro pollutant concentrations. We succeeded in higher removal performance of COD in presence of packing material. Total has made a BIOMEM technology assessment through PROQUAL with positive results. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: In terms of emergency preparedness for potential oil spills, the Group companies can call on in-house human and material resources (FOST) and benefit from assistance agreements with the main third-party organizations specialized in the management of hydrocarbon spills (OSRL, GI-WACAF, CEDRE, etc.). METRICS: Total’s target is to maintain hydrocarbon content of water discharges below 30 mg/l for offshore sites and 15 mg/l for onshore and coastal sites. Since 2016, 100% of the Group’s oil sites meet the target for the quality of onshore discharges and in 2018, 96% of the Group’s oil sites have met the target for the quality of offshore discharges. VALUE CHAIN: As to its value chain, water pollution risks are part of the parameters integrated in Total’s suppliers’ assessment, especially through the identification of those with production sites in Ramsar (wetland) protected areas. Total engages with its clients on water pollution risks through environmental labelling/information on its products, by providing regulatory end-of-life information, thereby helping to prevent leakage to the environment (petrochemical products for instance). Total has tools in place to manage potential stakeholder conflicts: Stakeholder Relationship Management (SRM+) to build relevant action plans, during projects’ complete lifecycle. 48% of entities have run an SRM+ in the past 5 years.

Hydrocarbons are organic compounds that naturally occur in crude oil. If massively released to the environment (during production, transport or refining) through water discharge or accidental spills, hydrocarbons can significantly impact natural environments (both fauna and flora). The scale of impacts generated can vary depending on the volume of hydrocarbons discharged and can go from very localized impacts for minor spills to major environmental impacts for large oil spills. Chronic potential impacts related to hydrocarbon releases in effluents are possibly reaching an Environmental Impact Factor (EIF) above 10,000 according to Norwegian Continental shelf (NCS) standards. Among potential impacts it can noted: fishes, benthic fauna, plankton, invertebrates mortality, reproduction adverse effects, physical contamination of sediments including river banks, shoreline ans soil, long term chronic effects on endocrine systems or reproduction.

The risk of having a significant detrimental impact over the natural environments is monitored through a yearly target of maintaining the hydrocarbon content of the water discharge below certain thresholds (15 mg/l for onshore/coastal sites and 30 mg/l offshore). Total had 100% of its onshore sites meeting the 15 mg/l target and 96% of its offshore sites meeting the 30 mg/l target in 2018. 1 site was not compliant since recently acquired. Measures are taken to solve this issue This is a worldwide group objective, which is complemented by risk analysis based on the DREAM model (Environment Impact Factor), in order to go beyond those objectives in mg/l by implementing extra treatment measures (ex: static mixers installed in Congo to improve effluent dispersion). The performance is actually much better than the objective for coastal downstream sites: 1 mg/l. Total’s approach combines thresholds and risk analysis and, on this basis, treatment systems are adapted to pollution risk reduction. In terms of emergency preparedness, the Group companies can call on in-house human and material resources (Fast Oil Spill Team) and benefit from assistance agreements with the main third-party organizations specialized in the management of hydrocarbon spills (OSRL, GI-WACAF, CEDRE, etc.). As to oil spills risks, the Group reports the number of Tier 1 and Tier 2 events as defined by the API and the IOGP. and has put in place trained personnal and equipments able to deal with tier 1 and 2 events. In accordance with industry best practices, Total also monitors accidental liquid hydrocarbon spills of more than one barrel. In 2018, 86% of the sites concerned by an oil spill risk on surface waters had carried out at least one exercise with equipment deployment to test their preparedness and readiness to intervene. The 14 other % pertain to site s that have engaged the procurement of new equipments and are delaying the tests waiting for delivery. HC possible effects is a clear concern at Total both for safety and environment concern (mostly impacts related to water). HC are also central in Total expertise and thus all risks related to HC are under detailed scrutiny and full control.

For the management of chemical products, Total refers to both relevant regulatory norms (such as the CLP and REACH at European level) and industry best practices. The ISO 14001 principles have been implemented at group level in company rules (for toxic products storage and confinement for instance) and cascaded at site level as well. Total implements Environment Mangement Systems taking chemicals into account from the selection/supply step until the disposal step. For the latter return to the supplier is even considered as priority. These principles are set in the environmental management system MAESTRO, which details the HSE management principles (ISO 14001 standards). This is completed by specific documents for the management of the different categories of potential pollutants (sludge, drilling fluids, chemicals storage, guide on polluted sites and soils, accident management, guide to prevent local population water pollution etc.) DREAM modelling is also applied to maintain Environmental Impact Factors (EIF) related to the discharge of certain chemical through produced water as low as possibe and anyway at an acceptable level. Total is also applying a very stringent policy in terms of formulation for the drilling fluids, in order to avoid detrimental chemical discharge. Chemicals are also present in hydrotest water (water used to test pipelines). Total has put in place specific procedures to limit as much as possible the use of chemicals during those tests and based on a risk approach, to achieve zero harmful impact related to the discharge of those fluids. For its chemical supply, Total applies environmental criterion pertaining to ecotoxicity, bioaccumulation and biodegradation to select the most environmentally friendly chemicals and at the end of the value chain, ensures a proper disposal of chemicals with the lowest environment impact.

Cuttings ● Upstream Drill cuttings are the broken bits of solid material removed as part of O&G wells drillings. Improper disposal of the resulting waste can lead to water pollution, especially at offshore sites. The scale of impacts generated can vary depending on the volume and nature of mismanaged cuttings, and the sensitivity of the sediment community (benthos). Shannon-Winner indexes (an indicator of local biodiversity) could be significantly affected and get much lower than 2 by improper release of high hydrocarbon content drilling wastes or if the chemical content of released cuttings is inappropriate. Cuttings are subject to the same risk assessment approach as chemicals and Hydrocarbons. In certain countries Total applies a “zero discharge” policy, particularly for drilling waste (drill cuttings) which are brought back to shore and treated appropriately to avoid any discharge to the sea. In 2018, no significant incident pertaining to cutting discharge to water was recorded. When a part of drilling waste is released to the water column (mostly water based mud cuttings) Total implements a water column and sediments monitoring program every 3 years in order to monitor possible impacts during the whole life of the field. As an example, in Angola Total was leader in the organisation of the regional monitoring survey in close collaboration with Ministry of Petroleum. At this occasion, Total brought experts from other affiliates like Norway to share the experience acquired for years on cuttings effects measurements. Total also uses the PARTRACK model that modelizes the impact of the cuttings particles on the water column and this is used to design properly the drilling sequences and reduce the impacts on water column as much as possibe. Given the integrated nature of its activities, the group mainly focuses on its direct operations with a comprehensive company-wide risk assessment approach, but also looks at suppliers’ exposure where relevant. The Executive Committee, with the assistance of the Group Risk Management Committee (GRMC), is responsible for identifying and analyzing internal and external risks that could impact the Group’s objectives. Total considers this issue as highly relevant across all of our operations and value chain as water supply can be crucial for certain operations like open loop cooling. Total continuously monitors its water resources use at site level. We use information gathered by our operational and EHS managers using the Total’s reporting system (HARPE). Current water availability is annually reported at Group level to fulfil Group’s annual reporting requirements. The same process is conducted at site level to meet local regulatory requirements. This allows the identification of priority sites that are environmentally sensitive in terms of water resources (> 500,000 m3/year, threshold set by Total). Total sets up dialogue with its stakeholders at all level of its organization. Our water-related risk assessment considers supplies of raw materials. The most significant input to be impacted by water is our energy consumption. Present in more than 130 countries, Total currently works with more than 100,000 suppliers of goods and services. In 2018, Total’s purchases of goods and services (excluding petroleum products and vessel chartering by Trading&Shipping) represented about 29 billion USD worldwide. The allocation of expenditures on the Group level is approximately 32% for goods (products, materials, etc.) and approximately 68% for services (in particular consulting services, work with supply of materials, transport, etc.). Total’s main commodities are oil and gas, which are essentially supplied internally by its EP segment. The application of risk management processes such as the Global and Local Water tools and the use of internal company knowledge thus directly assesses the current implications of water on Total’s key commodities or raw materials. The existing and potential regulatory frameworks for water withdrawals, discharges, tariff changes, water costs, licensing of operations and drought management plans are all key for our activities. Total’s activities are subject to laws and regulations pertaining to the environment, health and safety. In most countries where the Group operates, particularly in Europe and the United States, sites and products are subject to stringent laws governing the protection of the environment (incl. water) and health (occupational safety and chemical product risk, etc.). Product quality and consumer protection are also subject to increasingly strict regulations. Total’s entities ensure that their products meet applicable specifications and all applicable consumer protection laws. Failure to do so could lead to personal injury, property damage, environmental harm and loss of customers, which could negatively impact Total’s financial condition, including operating income, cash flow, and reputation. Local regulations and water tariffs are likely to affect the continuity of Total’s operations and are tracked and monitored by affiliates (in particular for the refining and chemical segments, which are generally located in developed countries with water pricing). For the sites identified as priorities, the risk assessment performed through the Local Water Tool includes current water regulatory frameworks and water tariffs parameters. Total monitors potential regulatory changes at corporate, affiliates and sites levels. It is expected that local legislation will be reviewed to reflect the growing need for strong water management in these areas. Status of ecosystems and habitats

As per our water policy, it is essential as good water stewardship to incorporate the impacts on local water dependent ecosystems into risk assessments. The impact of Total’s activities on ecosystems and habitats are systematically assessed by Environmental Impact Assessment studies. Improper discharges of water could create ecosystems imbalance, reduce the availability of ecosystems services and finally create relationship issues with local communities making our operations unsustainable. Thus Total identifies risks levels for sites withdrawing more than 500,000 m³/year which are located in areas exposed to water resource risks using the Local Water Tool (LWT). LWT includes current local ecosystems and watershed ecosystems parameters with focus on protected wetlands (Ramsar). Estimates of potential changes in the status of ecosystems and habitats at local level are parameters included in LWT assessment for priority sites which are defined as sites that withdraw > 500,000 m³/year and located in areas exposed to water resource risks. In addition, Total’s Geographical Information System (HSEQ maps) provides monthly updates on ecosystems and habitats status and some future protected areas, through a Memoradum Of Understanding with UN-Environment -WCMC program PROTEUS (annual costs: 100 KUSD). Additionnaly Total has developed its own leaking well head capping system (“Subsea Emergency Response System”) to stop potential eruptions in drilling or production operations as quickly as possible. Since 2015, equipment has been installed in Angola, then the Republic of the Congo, potentially covering the entire Gulf of Guinea region. other specific arrangements covers all regions in the world where Total operates drilling operations. In 2018, with regards to discharges to aquatic environments, all of the operated sites met the onshore discharge quality target set to restrict the impact on receiving environments thus ensuring an optimal ecosystems protection.

Total ensures the health and safety of all our employees, and also as part of our corporate responsibility to respect and ensure implementation of the human right to water and sanitation. This is the baseline expectation of the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights. The Group ensures that it complies with strict safety, security, health and environment standards in the performance of its Activities. The Safety Health Environment Quality Charter sets out the principles that apply to the conduct of its operations in all of the countries where it operates. Main employee-related risk would be discontinuity of operations (lack of freshwater availability for instance). Through the ISO14001 EMSs, employees are able to report on water-related risks. The identified risks are then assessed internally via the EMS management to determine best management solutions. The compensation structure of the Group’s employees is based on a base salary and on a merit-based salary to compensate employees’ individual performance according to targets set during the annual individual review, including at least one HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) target; and an individual variable compensation starting at a certain level of responsibility intended to compensate individual performance and the employee’s contribution to collective performance evaluated among others according to HSE targets which represent up to 10% of the variable portion. In 2018, 86.7% of the Group’s entities included HSE criteria in the variable compensation. In addition to CDP disclosure, Total’s Registration Document contains a specific chapter on water management that provides transparent information on the Group’s most material subjects including water. Total implements local grievance mechanisms to engage with local communities and anticipate conflict risks. Through Total’s group-wide stakeholders’ relationship management system (SRM+), trends analysis are conducted to identify potential stakeholders conflicts. Local communities are a key stakeholder (e.g. farming and livestock, fishing neighboring activities). This approach then permits to define action plans to manage possible water related impacts in order to build a long-term trusting relationship. Possible issues have been identified in accordance with the criteria set out in the UN Guiding Principles Reporting Framework, namely the scale, scope and remediability of the impact. The process included in particular workshops with representatives of key functions within the Group and Subsidiaries operating in sensitive contexts in series of interviews with independent third parties (GoodCorporation, International Alert and Collaborative Learning Project). As a result, were identified risks generated by the activities that might have consequences for the health of local communities, their means of subsistence and their access to vital services such as drinking water. For certain projects, a net positive water impact has thus been generated through the production of extra quantities of desalinated water that is then given for free. In the communities in which the Group operates, Total pays particular attention to vulnerable populations, particularly women: as part of the community dialogue, Total employs Community Liaison Officers (CBOs) from local communities. For example, in Papua New Guinea and Bolivia, women have been recruited to facilitate the expression of the expectations of the female population and contribute to its emancipation and inclusion. Given the important volumes of water required for Total’s activities (especially in the RC segment), maintaining a constructive a constructive dialogue with other water users at a local level is essential. It wishes to act in a way that ensures the vitality and sustainability of the territories in which the Group is present by favoring actions that benefit young people first. As coordinators of local water resources, river basin management authorities are relevant stakeholders to Total’s projects. The associated risk would be that Total loses its license to operate. Where relevant, Total engages with river basin management authorities through direct dialogue, in order to ensure the compliance of its operations with local water management rules, and thus adequately manage water-related risks (water quotas or environmental permits). For example, in the Mahakam delta (Indonesia), Total has maintained a constant dialogue with the local government in charge of river basin management. An environmental and social risk appraisal for our supply chain was conducted and focused on human rights, sustainability, energy efficiency, resource efficiency (water, minerals, utilities, waste). To date, Total’s suppliers are not deemed to include significant users of water, namely none are providing the Group with raw agricultural products / by-products (that are by definition water intensive). GROUP RISK MANAGEMENT Total’s activities are carried out in adherence to laws and Group’s Code of Conduct within the framework of compliance and risk management procedures. Increasing scarcity of water resources may negatively affect Total’s operations, high sea levels may harm coastal activities, and the multiplication of extreme weather events may damage facilities. Climate risk factors are continually assessed in the risk management and prevention plans. Total has developed safety, health and environment risk assessment procedures and tools applicable to operate its activities. EXTERNAL TOOLS Total records the withdrawal and discharge of water on all of its sites and assesses these volumes on the basis of the current and future water stress indicators of the WRI Aqueduct tool. In addition, Total assesses water resources risk levels of priority facilities which are those that withdraw more than 500,000 m³ per year and are located in areas potentially exposed to water resource risks, using the LWT for Oil & Gas from the GEMI. Globally, the sites operated by the Group are not particularly exposed to water risk. Total also use the Water and Biodiversity working groups of IPIECA to perform benchmarks of the Best Available Practice in the industry and ensure internal practices are up to speed. Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is a key methodology used to assess on a global manner all the aspects of the Water strategy that is defined at Group down to local level. The internal Geographic Information System (GIS) that is used to asses Water risks in general (risk to surface water like lakes, rivers, pounds, etc.… and Wetland particularly RAMSAR Area) is updated on a monthly basis using the PROTEUS database run by UN Environment – WCMC through a multi-year cooperation agreement. Any investment, sale or financial commitment is subject to different levels of decision-making based on financial thresholds. Financial expenditures associated with water-related risks are the indicator used by Total to define substantive change. Substantive financial impacts defined as the amount of CAPEX involved in the particular project under analysis. Based on “financial significance” thresholds, the environmental risks will be assessed through different processes and undergo different levels of validation. These thresholds are segment-specific, but the general rule is that decisions on water-related risks with minor CAPEX implications are taken at site level. Then, decisions with significant CAPEX implications are taken at branch level, while decisions with very significant CAPEX implications will be discussed and approved by the Group’s executive committee. Total operates along the entire oil and gas value chain, and therefore has integrated its raw material supply within its perimeter: water-risks mainly occur in its direct operations and not in its value chain. The Total Group’s Vigilance Plan covers the risks for the activities of suppliers of goods and services under Article L. 225-102-4 of the French Commercial Code. The initiative One R&D Plan Vision 2019+ federates pioneers committed to providing impactful solutions to our customers for a cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy. FOR WATER R&D, we focus on industrial performance (viscosified water treatment, produced water reinjection and new technologies – salt removal) and on environmental performance (effluent characterization and monitoring, water usage analysis, water treatment, water management and Life cycle analysis). The risks associated with water management are anticipated through the Long-Term Plan (LTP), which is a prospective exercise undertaken annually. It includes water production/injection/discharge analysis over the next 10 years. It analyses the CAPEX risks associated with water management, notably taking into account potential changes in the regulatory contexts to which the Group is exposed. From an investor’s point of view, this prospective approach provides a competitive advantage to the company in terms of risk management. Being able to maintain an A- level at CDP Water Risk Questionnaire is considered as a proper answer to investor’s questions pertaining to water risks for Total’s operations.

Due to a better water-related risks anticipation, it can be estimated that the LTP prevents the quantified water-related risks (costs of water supply and their evolution, costs related to regulation evolution and CAPEX needed to meet compliance). Total’s corporate water policy is publicly available on its 2018 Registration Document and verified by external auditors. Since 2016, Total engaged in a “ONE Total” project on a 20 years horizon in order to uniformize standard practices and levels of expectations. It is important that all entities share the same ambitions, thus Total Water Policy does apply worldwide. On page 195 (5.5.3 Limiting the environmental footprint), we disclose commitments related to the water issues: DISCHARGED WATER QUALITY 100% of the operated sites met the discharge quality target set to restrict the impact on receiving environments. FRESH WATER The Group’s activities may potentially have an impact on, as well as be dependent of, water resources. Total implements the following water risk management actions: 1. monitor water withdrawals to identify priority sensitive sites and carry out a risk assessment; 2. improve the water resources management depending on identified needs adapting the priority sites’ environmental management system. Total records the withdrawal and discharge of water on 100% of its sites and assesses these volumes on the basis of the current and future water stress indicators of the WRI Aqueduct. Total assesses water resources risk levels of facilities withdrawing more than 500,000 m³/year located in areas exposed to water resource risks. The LWT developed by GEMI is used to perform Total’s site water risk assessments. The WRI Aqueduct is used for water risk screening and climate change projections. The most important sites operated by Total fir water withdrawals and consumption have been assessed by LWT. The objective is to assess 95% of the priority sites by end of this year. The number of priority sites (as fresh water withdrawals up to 500,000 m3 per year) are twenty-three. We have made a commitment to support the SDGs, particularly SDG6. Board Chair

The Chairman of the Board and CEO of Total, is responsible for water inclusion in the Group’s strategy on the long-term. The chairman of the board is the highest level of the organization, and Group strategy is most significant for the success of the business, this role has therefore been assigned the oversight of these most critical responsibilities, whereby water-related issues are fully integrated into. In 2016, Total’s CEO has taken a decisive step by announcing the creation of a ONE HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) department because HSE concern, must be fully integrated into the Group’s overarching strategy. The Charmain ensures that the board is informed of the market developments, the competitive environment and the main challenges facing the company, including water issues. The Chairman of the board also chairs the Group Performance Committee which gathers the Business Sectors VPs and the HSE VP among other members and meets on a monthly basis.

Director on Board

The Board of Directors is a collegial body that determines the strategic direction of the Company and supervises the implementation of this vision. With the exception of the powers and authority expressly reserved for shareholders and within the limits of the Company’s legal purpose, the Board may address any issue related to the Company’s operation and make any decision concerning the matters falling within its purview. Total’s Board of Directors ensures that water-related issues are incorporated into the Group’s strategy. The Lead Independent Director ensures efficient governance of the company in accordance with current practice, is the Chairwoman of the Governance and Ethics Committee, member of the Strategic & CSR Committee and member of the Compensation Committee. The latter implies that she monitors the definition of sustainability criteria of the compensation schemes including water-related aspects.

Every year, the Board of Directors reviews the main issues related to climate change and environment in the strategic outlook review of the Group’s business segments, which are presented by the respective general management structures. Also, the Audit Committee, a subset of the board, does more specific work on the climatic and environmental reporting processes in the review of the performance indicators published by Total in its annual reports and audited by an independent third-party organization. Since 2016, the Compensation Committee also decided to introduce changes to the variable compensation of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer to take better account of the achievement of Corporate Societal Responsibility (CSR) and HSE targets. The importance given to these aspects in the remuneration keeps growing, and the Compensation Committee of the Board reviews these criteria every year. The Board of Directors is fully mobilized by the Climate issue in order to support the development of Total, and it approved the publication of the first Climate Report in March 2016. This report is updated every year. All these points of information and decisions were made during programmed Board’s meetings along the year. Significant CAPEX decisions related to water are for instance part of board’s discussion (Water major investments at RC sector, R&D programs etc.). The integration of water related issues also relies on the CORISK approach, whereby any significant modification to Total’s operational perimeter is presented and analyzed by the Group Risk Management Committee, including all HSE risks. This analysis is then presented to the Executive Committee (COMEX). Through 2018, the Chief Sustainability Officer has submitted full information and documentation related to the compliance with the Grenelle II environmental law in France to the Board, and, moreover, full information and documentation. This process ensures the Board’s information and ability to take decision, based on the actions defined during CSR reviews.

IEA Sustainable Development Scenario

The transition towards a low-carbon economy will have impacts on the demand for the different sources of energy, including fossil-fuel products. The evolution of Total’s activities to take this fact into account may affect its impact and dependency on water resources. At certain places, the risk of draughts is increasing. Similarly, decreasing amounts of rainfall are forecasted and therefore deficient hydrological year. For example, according to the vulnerability to climate change of the department of Seine-et-Marne (ADEME), it is estimated that by 2050 to 2080 (scenario A2) cumulated rainfall over a year will decrease by 100mm to 200mm to reach 650 to 750 mm/year (the average rainfall is currently 750 to 850 mm/year).

As part of its adaptation to a low carbon future, the company has engaged into new activities with new water-related implications, such as the production of biofuels (with potentially high upstream water impacts). This is also applicable to solar power activities. In order to promote a new industry in the field of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), the Group is examining the possibility of developing new businesses to enable its industrial, domestic or electricity producing customers to capture, store, utilize or neutralize their CO2 emissions. Total is particularly interested in the development of new business and industrial models associated with this value chain. At local level, on the River Seine Watershed, Total has considered production reduction in order to face drought periods during summer time.

The promotion of water security for all is supported when companies: 1. reduce their dependency on fresh water sources and track their progress; this is additionally important where fresh

water scarcity may pose water quality risks and impacts. 2. collect and share volumetric data on their interactions with water resources. 3. consider water throughout their value chain, beyond the fence-line of their direct operations.

To address its challenges, Total relies on the HSE strategy and policies of the Group. Total’s water-related ambitions are organized around 3 pillars, as defined in the group’s HSE chart: protect water resources, protect wetlands and setting water-related performance targets. Environmental indicators have been monitored for many years in order to constantly adapt the Group’s environmental protection measures. Since 2005, we have assessed water and performance in a holistic way and our targets are to maintain hydrocarbon content of water discharges below 30 mg/l for offshore sites and 15 mg/l for onshore and coastal sites. Targets are reported at group level but are applicable and implemented at site level. In 2018, 100% of the Group’s oil sites have met the target for the quality of onshore discharges since 2016 and 96% of the Group’s oil sites have met the target for the quality of offshore discharges. Those objectives are cascaded for specific activities based on local conditions, such as hydrocarbon contents for refineries located in coastal areas. Moreover, the Group has committed to systematically developing biodiversity action plans for production sites located in protected areas (IUCN I to IV or Ramsar convention protected areas), hence a significant focus on protected wetlands. Those objectives are defined based on the nature of Total’s activities and the materiality of those different parameters. Targets are validated by the Executive Committee, in order to ensure the company’s alignment with the industry’s best practices. To sustain a circular economy including water issues, Total today participates in the creation of an alliance of global companies from the plastics and consumer goods value chain to advance solutions to help end plastic waste in the environment, especially in the ocean. The cross value chain Alliance to End Plastic Waste, currently made up of nearly thirty member companies located throughout the world, has committed to investing $1.5 billion over the next five years to help end plastic waste in the environment. The Alliance will develop and bring to scale solutions that will minimize and manage plastic waste and promote solutions for used plastics by helping to enable a circular economy. A project aiming to generate lithium resources from production water using the concepts developed by the circular economy at our petroleum production waters and all along the value chain has been launched.

The integration of hydropower as a source of low carbon electricity represents a clear linkage between water and climate change management. This impact of this measure can be done by observing the associated reduction in Scope 1 GHG emissions.

Total’s policy (group’s environmental charter) aims at managing its natural resources uses (including specifically water) and its impacts on these. Hydropower generates very limited GHG emissions to produce electricity and constitute the only form of electricity storage on a large scale. Its integration in Total’s electricity supply, where available, allows a reduction of the GHG emissions associated with its electricity consumption (scope 2) but also scope 1 GHG when electricity replaces fossil fuels. For instance, in the EP segment, the Martin Linge field in Norway is 100% powered by electricity coming from hydropower and thus have no associated scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gases emissions. The exposure to this linkage (measured through hydropower use in operations) has remained stable in the reporting year. Total is considering promoting the use of electricity powered offshore installation with hydropower as applicable.

Reducing our water footprint wherever is possible, taking into account every available approach, and prevent any harm to the human activities and environment at our sites locations. This is to avoid competition with local users like farmers or even ecosystems later providing ecosystems services to local communities. An indicator used is the quantity of water used per unit of production that must remain among the best performers in our benchmark.

Wat-R-USE: Total has developed a tool to ensure uniformization of water management performance assessment through a multi criteria approach that pushes the user to collect accurate data, validate the cost models, calculate direct but also indirect Water footprint and Carbon footprint (LCA approach), evaluate ecotoxicity at discharge point and get aware and take actions for limiting water risk and social impacts. An Ecotoxicity indicator (Usetox) is mandatory for discharge in fresh surface waters and we have integrated « direct Ecotox risk » indicator for discharge in seawater & freshwater. A social indicator has been added for internal reuse (Impact of discharged water on soil and plants). A friendlier industrial interface is in progress in collaboration with Greenflex.

Desalination process: new technologies for salt removal to reduce energy consumption and thus improve energy efficiency for the same amount of desalted water (kWh/desalted m3).

Total is conducting pilots to test desalination processes to ensure a better water management (recycling & external reuse). Desalination phase could be operated prior to bioreactor processes. The technical challenges are still linked to the desalting of very saline waters containing various impurities (salts, organics…). 3 projects in progress; Liquid-liquid extraction: We have developed a desalination project from seawater. The test started In April 2018 for a one-year duration. We anticipate 90% of desalination performance with an energy consumption below30 kWh/m3 A Proof of concept has been done in a lab with various real produced water. The pilot has provided with some first results. Water Desalting is a key energetic challenge for Total E&P Sector both for Waste Water treatment and for domestic water production in remote areas. This is also a key point to reduce dependency on third party water supply. Any gain in the energy consumed is a gain in term of business profitability.

Tradeoff Increased wastewater treatment

Certain activities related to water management generate volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions, especially water treatment. Within the EP activities, the water reinjection process requires the consumption of gas and energy, thus directly or indirectly generating greenhouse gases emissions.

The analysis of water treatment processes (conducted at the Gonfreville site using Total’s water reuse tool) has highlighted a potential impact transfers between a reduced water footprint opportunity and higher GHG footprint. Total manages this potential trade-off by conducting multi-criteria analysis of these technologies (including both water, GHG and VOCs emissions) in order to have a holistic approach to these problematics. The exposure to this trade-off has remained stable in the reporting year. PW TREATMENT IN EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) The environment roadmap of the project is to improve water quality and water treatment reliability. The objective is to propose the best media for oil. We assess the impact of back-produced polymer on produced water treatment. A project is in progress for the EOR deployment. Media filtration: Oil sorption decreases with increasing oil viscosity and interfacial tension and a higher removal of pure oil than oil on aqueous medium. Additives enhance oil removal efficiency. The objective of the project is to improve water quality and water treatment reliability with a decrease of CAPEX (more efficient and compact treatment) and to validate treatment for water flooding and polymer flooding. EOR and Pressure Maintenance are key issue to avoid surface water withdrawal and thus this improvement is closely linked to Total Water Strategy to preserve water resource.

Linkage Increased biodiversity

Total’s water management has a direct impact on local aquatic ecosystems. The responsible management of surrounding water sources and the constant monitoring of Total’s effluents is key to the preservation of local biodiversity on both offshore and onshore projects.

Total manages this linkage by constantly monitoring the quality of its water discharge, in order to minimize its impact on local biodiversity. With regard to marine biodiversity, the Total Foundation funds research programs undertaken to improve knowledge about marine species and ecosystems and challenges related to their protection and enhancement. For the 54 projects initiated in 2016, the Foundation ensures the sharing of knowledge through continued awareness and education campaigns. Moreover, Total runs a unique set of riverine aquatic mesocosms dedicated to testing products’ potential impacts on aquatic ecosystems. This installation is quite unique in the world. The exposure to this linkage has remained stable in the reporting year. Several projects are in progress regarding effluent characterization. We have screened existing technologies and developed a R&D roadmap. We follow The OSPAR Recommendations for the protection and conservation of OSPAR listed Species and Habitats. We work on toxicity tools for R&D studies, reactivity and environmental monitoring on site. In 2018 we have initiated Ecotoxicity monitoring tools for Different matrices such as water/soil/sediment and different receiving medium: freshwater /seawater/brackish water and we have made tests on reference substances and effluents. Results analysis are yet in progress. All these actions pertains to Total strategy of Water Resource preservation.

ISAE3000

Verification has been done by EY, a third party, accredited by the COFRAC. The full report on the consolidated non-financial statement is presented in chapter 5 of 2018 Registration Document. Their work has been carried out in accordance with the provisions of the French Commercial Code and according to professional standards as well as to the international ISAE standard 3000. The verification was carried out from corporate down to site level including a sample of contributing sites which cover between 5% and 28% of the consolidated data selected for these tests. The verification work mobilized the skills of nine people and took place between September 2018 and March 2019 on a total duration of intervention of about thirty weeks. EY conducted interviews with around twenty persons responsible for the preparation of the Statement including in particular the divisions Strategy & Climate, Legal Affairs, HSE, Human Resources, Civil Society Engagement, Support & Purchasing Performance. Based on the work that has been performed, they have not identified any significant misstatement that causes not to believe that the consolidated non-financial statement complies with the applicable regulatory provisions and that the Information, taken together, is fairly presented, in compliance with the criteria. The Group’s internal requirements state that the environmental management systems of its operated sites that are important for the environment must be ISO 14001 certified within two years of start-up of operations or acquisition: 100% of these 71 sites were in conformity in 2018. Beyond these internal requirements, at the end of 2018, a total of 264 sites operated by the Group were ISO 14001 certified.
