Dear Young Families, Welcome Back! We look forward to another year of growth and learning for Young students and staff. Staff at Young have planned exciting grade level and family activities throughout the school year. In addition, Young School has an active and involved PTA organization that provides many wonderful programs for Young students and families. We welcome you and invite you to join us! This year 3rd grade students are piloting chromebooks for use at school and home for the district’s 1:1 technology initiative. We can’t wait to see how the implementation of this technology impacts and enhances student learning and teacher instruction. The pilot of chromebooks at 3rd grade will help Young staff prepare for the implementation of 1:1 technology during the 2018-19 school year for second – fifth grade students. We are privileged that you entrust us with your children. Young staff believe that all students have the right to be treated with respect. If you or your child has concerns with teasing, bullying, or any other inappropriate behavior please reach out and connect with your child’s classroom teacher via phone or email so that the teacher can immediately address the issue. If after connecting with the classroom teacher, you still have concerns, please contact Young’s building administration (Dr. Bell, Student Service Coordinator or Ms. Morgan, Principal). All students are valued members of our school community and we want all of our children to feel that their learning environment is safe and caring. Our staff is dedicated to the educational success of Young children. We are most appreciative of the

support that we receive from Young families. We are thrilled to continue partnering with the Young

community to help Young children become their best self.

Dear NYE Families

Hello to our new families and welcome back to all our returning families at Nancy Young Elementary. My name is Melissa Anargyros and I am excited to be the PTA President. I have 2 children Jake in 5Th grade & Emma in 1st grade. We also have a Co-President, Sherri Nugent, who has been on the PTA Board for many years. She has a son Andrew in 5th grade & we love being part of such an amazing school.

Every year the PTA board selects a theme and this year’s theme is You are a Rainbow of Possibilities. Make it Count!

We are so lucky to have such an active PTA here at Young and there are so many ways that you can get in-volved. First, sign up and join the PTA. We have a lot of fun programs and events planned for this year. Thanks to Kim Philo for kicking off the school year with an exciting “Back to School” welcome. Ice cream was enjoyed by all, and it was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to meet their fellow classmates and teachers for the 2017-2018 school year.

Thank you to the Staff Appreciation Committee for the Welcome Back breakfast on Friday, August 25th. The Young staff really enjoyed it. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers & Bakers & Cooks R Us Committee for all the wonderful donations.

I would also like to introduce the theme for this year’s Reflections program. It is Within Reach. We are excit-ed to have Priti Amin as our Reflections chair this year. Young students will have an opportunity to submit an entry representing the theme through literature, dance choreography, photography, film/video production or visual arts.

One of our favorite things about Young is the parent, staff and teacher involvement. Please make the time and get involved to help our students and staff have a wonderful school year.

We are looking forward to another fun and exciting year at NYE!

Thank you to all of the NYE parents and guardians, who have dedicated their time to helping make NYE the incredi-

ble school that it is. Here are some volunteers that we would like to salute!

A special thanks to Adam Faber, Pallavi Potdar and Suini Liang, who served on the Audit committee this year!

Thank you all so much for your commitment of time for picture day. You were an incredible volunteer to help our kids look their best. I greatly appreciate your help. A special thanks to Trishia Ogden for being there throughout the day with me and helping me out. (PTA Board member: Shubhra Sharma) Additionally, we’d like to salute the following volunteers for their help in the lunchroom and at picture day. They are: Melissa Anargyros, Trishia Ogden, Kim Aumick, Kelly Howard, Josh Cox, Akin Kasai, Tsukasa Tsunoda, Jen Sester, Katie Keagle, Madhavi Suram, Lavanya Boddu, Sailaja Kapila, Jennifer Lester and Shannon Bschor The Staff Appreciation Committee provided the Staff with breakfast on Friday, August 25. Thank you to Blueberry Hill Pancake House located at 405 N Eola Rd. in Aurora for the breakfast. Thanks to Sherri Nugent for coordinating the bakers.

A special thank you to Kim Philo for Back to School Ice Cream social and to all the high schoolers and middle school students that were able to help out at the ice cream social!
