Dear Parishioners, 1. Being Blameless The First Reading and the Gospel talk about a time when the Lord comes, for justice, as the First Reading says, and for judgment, as the Gospel implies. In the Gospel, Jesus warns people not to be overcome with the pleasures and anxieties of the world but to be ready for his coming. Those who are not ready will practically die of fright when they see him. Well, then, what do we need to do to get ready? The Second Reading in effect explains it. At Christ’s coming again, we are to be blameless in holiness. And what is that? If you are blameless under law, then no one can blame you for any violation of the law of the land. You weren’t speeding, for example, or cheating on your income tax, or violating any other law of the city or country in which you are. If you are morally blameless, then no one can blame you for any violation of the moral law. You weren’t lying, for example, or cheating on your spouse, or violating any other command of the universal moral law that applies to all people no matter where they are. But what is it to be blameless in holiness? The answer is in the Second Reading: in order to be ready for Christ at his coming, Christians need to increase in love and abound in it. So here’s the thing to see. You can keep all the laws of your land and still be a real jerk. And the same truth holds for the moral law. You can be a priggishly righteous jerk too. Something more than having a great record for keeping the laws is necessary to be ready for the Lord. That more is love. If you want what is bad for your neighbor, if you curse him in public or even in your heart, if you wish he would just go away, if you tell him in your thoughts or to his face to go to hell—you do not love him. And you are blameworthy with regard to holiness if you don’t. It doesn’t matter how moral or legal your conduct is otherwise. To be blameless in holiness, then, takes being loving. And being loving is what makes us ready for the return of the Lord. 2. November Memorial Book For the month of November, the November Mass Book will be present in the Church, containing the names of all the people we will be praying for this month.
Please keep all the Holy souls in your prayers.

Night Patrol Goodies
As a special donation, at Christmas time we ask our community to help others by donating a few items which are a little bit more of a treat than just the usual toiletries. So, with this in mind over the
coming weeks if you are thinking of what to donate, the following items would be most appreciated.
Please keep to the list if you can as it facilitates packing.
⇒ Home Brand Fruit Cakes (They slice easily as we cut them into 4 individual little fruit cakes and decorate them)
⇒ Boxes of Chips ⇒ 6 Packs of Poppers ⇒ Bars of Cadbury Chocolates (Any Size) ⇒ Packets of Tim Tams
As always, please keep the toiletries coming as we can never have enough of these as well.
Shampoo, Black socks, Conditioner, Bath towels, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Shaving
cream & Packet Razor Blades
New Books for Children in Detention If this year you would like to do something a little different or in addition to Night Patrol Donations,
you can join in our New Books for Children in Detention Drive.
Simply buy a book for child aged between 5-12 years. You may like to write why you like the book
in the front cover, or a little message of love or hope, before finishing off with your name.
A Christian name is OK. Then wrap it and leave it in the box next to Mini Vinnies in the Gathering Space.
I look forward to a great response as I know what an awesome parish All Hallows is!

Honouring Humanity
Following the human tide of refugees into Europe and
the dreadful massacres in Beirut, Paris and Mali,
members of our parish will be praying the Rosary on
Thursday 3rd December at 9.30am
for this special intention.
We are offering the Rosary for “Those who have been
killed, injured or fleeing terror in their homelands. We
hope, trust and pray that terrorists be de-radicalised and
learn to value humanity"
We invite social justice groups, parishes, schools, work-
places and individuals to do the same. We also invite
people from other religions, non-religious and those
who believe in the value of humanity to observe three
minutes silence.
Our hope is that many people will join with us on this
day and at the same time from wherever you are to pray
to Our Lady and/or observe 3 minutes silence.

Overseas volunteer opportunities Communities in East Timor, Ethiopia, Kenya, Kiribati, PNG, Samoa and elsewhere seek teachers, health and community development workers, administrators, agricultural workers and others. You can assist to mentor local workers in your field of expertise. This will provide opportunities for individuals and improve the operations of organisations in vital sectors of local communities and so assist poverty reduction.
For 55 years Palms Australia has assisted such communities to recruit, prepare and support Australian Catholics who volunteer to share their lives and skills. We have increasing numbers of
requests from communities who believe this approach, more than anything else, assists their self-reliance and sustainable development.

POPE’S COLUMN
Ecumenism is essential, not a luxury. Reflecting on having the opportunity to meet the leaders of other Christian
communities and religions, Francis expressed his hope that their time together may be a sign of the Church’s esteem for the followers of all religions and may strengthen
the bonds of friendship already among them.
"To be honest, this relationship is challenging; it makes demands of us. Yet ecumenical and interreligious dialogue is not a luxury. It is not something extra or optional, but essential, something
which our world, wounded by conflict and division, increasingly needs."
Religious beliefs and practice, the Pope observed, condition who we are and how we understand the
world around us. He also stressed that they are a source of enlightenment, wisdom and solidarity, and
thus enrich the societies in which we live.
"By caring for the spiritual growth of our communities, by forming minds and hearts in the truths and
values taught by our religious traditions, we become a blessing to the communities in which our people live. In democratic and pluralistic societies like Kenya, cooperation between religious leaders and communities becomes an important service to the common good." In this light, and in an increasingly interdependent world, we see ever more clearly the need for interreligious understanding, friendship and collaboration in defending the God-given dignity of individuals and peoples, and their right to live in freedom and happiness. By upholding respect for human dignity and rights, Pope Francis said, religions play an essential role in "forming consciences, instilling in the young the profound spiritual values of our respective traditions, and training good citizens, capable of infusing civil society with honesty, integrity and a world view which values the human person over power and material gain." Recalling this year marks the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Council, at which the Catholic Church committed herself to ecumenical and interreligious dialogue in the service of understanding and friendship, the Pontiff reaffirmed this commitment. The world, he observed, rightly
expects believers to work together with people of good will in facing the many problems affecting our
human family. "As we look to the future, let us pray that all men and women will see themselves as brothers and
sisters, peacefully united in and through our differences," the Pope said, "Let us pray for peace!"
