Celebrating our #LocalHeroes

Member Pioneer Lindsay Milnes has worked with a local Facebook group Scrub Hub to supply sewn PPE uniforms for Manchester NHS hospitals and carers. The group has since grown to over 160 stitchers and was an offshoot from the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury Scrub Hub Lindsay identified and signposted volunteers to on Facebook. Lindsay helped share requirements for fabric donations ( a local company Belledorm donated 500m of fabric this week), she has stitched gowns, scrub bags, scrub hats and Scrub Suits for Bolton and Manchester Hospitals and also helped to secure hair clips for a personal request from a head nurse friend deployed to the Manchester Nightingale Hospital by putting them in touch with a local group Lindsay had made connections with. The connections and networking of the Member Pioneer Co-ordinator role has created the platform for great impact. Lindsay was also given an opportunity to do a Vlog about making Scrub Bags for the BBC which should air in a couple of weeks as a new, Ross Kemp: NHS Responders documentary and she was able to highlight her MPC role and volunteering (without being able to specifically name the Co-op brand).
