OBJECTIVE
A VILLAGE ROAD
1 LONG LASTING (Permanent asset)
2 LOW INITIALCOST
3 MAINTENANCE FREE
4 EMPLOYMENT GENERATION
( Labour component can be 40% of total cost worked out by M Pradesh for MGNAREGS)
What is a Flexible‐Concrete(cell‐filled) pavement?
GSB/CTB/WBM
Cells filled with Compacted CC
formwork of Recycled HDP,LDP 150mmx150mmx100mm/ 200mmx200mmx100mm
Limited rotation at the interface of two blocks takes place
If foundation settles, the flexible –rigid pavement conforms to the shape of the foundation
MATERIALS FOR CELL FILLS
1. Grouted concrete(GC)
2. Roller compacted concrete(RCC)
3. Cement concrete(CC)
4. 50% M10 and 50% M30(Karnatka)
CELLS FILLED WITH SINGLE SIZE AGGREGATES
AFTER LEVELLING, AGGREGATES ROLLED BY 6‐8TON ROLLER
CEMENT‐SAND MORTAR(1:1 BY VOLUME) IS VIBRATED INTO THE AGGREGATES BY PLATE VIBRATOR
PAVEMENT AFTER ROLLING
CELL WALLS GET DEFORMED
AFTER GROUTING OF MORTAR, PAVEMENT SURFACE CAN BE OPENED TO LIGHT TRAFFIC AFTER 24 HOURS. CURING CONTINUES

Subbase
water vapour
Gap between blocks due to shrinkage is 10 to 20 micron. Water can not enter from top. Water vapor can escape from bottom releasing pore water pressure.Fines can not be pumped up
