Therapeutic effectAs the centrepiece of the CelonENT system, the innovative CelonLabENT serves to control the bipolar RFITT applicators, the CelonProCutsystem as well as the bipolar forceps.

CelonLab ENT monitors and regulates the entire soft-coagulationprocess automatically. Prior to treatment, it is only necessary to setthe power recommended for the selected application and the desiredtreatment result.

Automatic dosimetry control and 3D impedance feedback controlensure reproducible results. An acoustic signal provides continuousinformation on the progress of treatment and puts the doctor indirect control, without becoming distracted from the treatment itself.

Once the defined lesion size has been reached, the power controlunit CelonLab ENT automatically reduces the power output. Thesoft-coagulation is completed and CelonLab ENT informs the doctorwith an acoustic signal.

Therapeutic effectThe bipolar RFITT applicator CelonProSleep plus generates preciseand reproducible thermo-lesions in the tissue of the soft palate, thepalatine tonsils and root of the tongue. The patients body graduallybreaks down the coagulated tissue following treatment, resulting in a reduction in volume. Tightening and stiffening of the muscle of thesoft palate can also be achieved as a result of the formation of scartissue. Depending on the indication, combined treatment, e.g. of thesoft palate, tonsils, root of the tongue or also nasal concha, can beeffective.

ApplicationProcedures can generally take place under local anaesthesia.* This entails inserting the bipolar RFITT applicator CelonProSleep plusinto the tissue region to be treated:

The curved form of the CelonProSleep plus applicator allows thedoctor to easily reach the soft palate, the palatine tonsils and theroot of the tongue. Submucosal treatment of the deeper lying tissuelayers is also possible, thanks to the bipolar RFITT applicators specialconstruction. Tissue or organ surfaces remain intact and postopera-tive pain and the risk of infection are reduced. Treatment requiressuccessive puncture points to be applied close to one another.

CelonProBreath

Therapeutic effectCelonProBreath facilitates submucosal volume reduction of thehyperplastic nasal concha by deep coagulation. The ciliated epitheliumand mucous membranes, essential for the proper function of thenose, remain intact. After a few days the body breaks down thecoagulated tissue of the nasal concha thereby reducing the volumeof the nasal concha. The pathway available for the flow of breath isexpanded.

Note: A slight swelling and a temporary impairment of nasal breath-ing may initially occur after the procedure due to the decompositionprocess taking place, but this is only of brief duration.

ApplicationProcedures can normally be carried out under local anaesthesia. Theapplicator CelonProBreath is inserted and pushed dorsally into thehead of the concha, along the bone to the rear end of the concha.Stepwise retraction and repeated energy emission can generate acontinuous submucosal thermo-lesion along the entire length of theconcha body. The markings on the bipolar RFITT applicator makecorrect placement easier for each additional coagulation.

By virtue of the special construction of the CelonProBreath bipolarRFITT applicator, purely submucosal treatment is possible, in whichthe ciliated epithelium remains intact. As the entire puncture channelis coagulated right up to the point of insertion, there is little tendencyto bleed so that swabs are usually not required.

Therapeutic effectSoft tissue in the pharyngeal area can be efficiently and gently re-moved in an outpatient procedure using the CelonProCut bipolarRFITT cutting system. The combination of coagulation of the softpalate with the removal of excess mucous membrane around thepalatine arches (webbing) and the shortening of the uvula can beused to support the treatment of habitual snoring. Additional tight-ening and a significant expansion of the pathway for the flow ofbreath can be achieved. This multilevel RFITT enables increasedefficiency of the treatment results.

ApplicationProcedures can normally be carried out under local anaesthesia. Thedoctor holds the uvula with the forceps, which also serve as returnelectrode and provide the palatine arch with the stability required forcutting. The fine cutting electrode ensures fast and precise cutting.The current remains confined to the tissue area undergoing treat-ment; a neutral electrode is not required.

As the procedure is combined with tightening of the soft palate muscle,the removal of excess mucous membrane and the resection of thetip of the uvula can be carried out while leaving the muscle largelyintact.
