Accelerating% & works in the opposite manner from retarding admi"tures+ decreasing the set time of concrete. )his helps to counteract the effect of cold weather+ which causes hardening at a slower rate. 3. Water reducing% & this can 'e use to increase the set time in hot weather+ similar to retarding admi"tures+ 'ut there main role is to allow for a more fluid mi" with lower water content. 4. Air accelerating% & are another additi,e used to enhance concretes dura'ilit( in relation to free$e&thaw c(cle+ which is especiall( important in colder weather. )hese admi"tures disperse small air 'u''les in the mi". 5. temperature range. )he main importance is to increase the strength. /t0s also a ke( factor inmigrating cracks in the concrete+ which se,erel( impacts dura'ilit(.

a. The t"o different methods that are utili#ed in the construction industry are:

• )his is '( spra(ing water onto the formation. a simple wa( to ust keep water spra(ed onto the

sla' with garden sprinklers or '( ust hand held hose.

• Another method is '( using a plastic shield which 'asicall( a plastic laid on top of the sla' to stop

the e,aporation process. As this is one of the most effect methods of curing the concrete.

  )his is usuall( refer to as a 'uilding with a skeleton frame work of ,ertical steel column and

hori$ontal / 'eams that are constructed in a rectangular grid to support the roof+ floor and walls of a

 'uilding which are all attached to the frame work structural design.
