Identify Company ID

During the installation process, you will be required to enter a unique four-digit Company ID. If you area branch of a larger company, this ID must be identical to that used for all other Cencon installationsby your company. It is helpful to determine what the four-digit number is before you begin the installa-tion process. Once chosen and input into the sytem, the number cannot be changed.

For security purposes the Company ID, along with the unique identification code that has beenassigned to the company’s PCI Adapter Card(s), is written to any locks or keys that are added to yourCencon 2 system.

Note: Locks that have been initialized in a different company’s system can only be activatedin your company’s system after having been “shelved” in their original system.

Record Current Authorization Level Settings

If you are upgrading from a previous Cencon system to Version 3.1 and if you changed yourdefault authorization settings in the previous installation, you must capture your current authori-zation settings before proceeding. When Version 3.1 of the software is installed, all authorizationlevels will be reset to the default settings as defined for a new install.

11. Enter the data for the following fields in the Cencon Update Configuration Data window:

Note: Some of the information on this screen can be updated at a later time. Once set, theCompany ID can never be changed. See the section on Update Configuration File underthe Special Supervisor Functions in the Reference Manual for further detail.

• Company ID - The value entered for this field can be any four-digit number you wish toidentify your company. You should choose a number that is, in some way, meaningful to yourcompany.

Caution: Once this ID is set, you cannot change it. If you are a branch of a larger company, you must enter the Company ID that has already been chosen for your company. If youare planning to activate locks from a remote PC, the Company ID must be the same onall systems involved in the process.

• 1st Line Open Time Allowed (mins) - This field designates the time period allowed for a 1stline FLM call to be open. When an FLM service call is dispatched, you must specify if it is a1st line or a 2nd line call.

Note: Typically, 1st line service calls are for basic maintenance or problems that are easilyresolved.

The open time is measured from the point that a combination is issued for a lock to the time thata close seal is entered for the call. If a combination has been issued but the close seal has notbeen entered within this amount of time, a message will be displayed on the screen to notify theuser that the time has expired. This message only serves as a reminder to the dispatcher tocheck on the status of this call. Entering "0" means that the open time will not be checked for 1stline maintenance calls.

• 2nd Line Open Time Allowed (mins) - This field designates the time period allowed for a2nd line FLM call to be open. When an FLM service call is dispatched, you must specify if it isa 1st or 2nd line call.

Note: Typically, 2nd line service calls are for more involved service calls where the the ATMis expected to be out of service for a longer period of time.

The open time is measured from the point that a combination is issued for a lock to the timethat a close seal is entered for the call. If a combination has been issued but the close sealhas not been entered within this amount of time, a message will be displayed on the screento notify the user that the time has expired. This message only serves as a reminder to thedispatcher to check on the status of this call. Entering "0" means that the open time will not bechecked for 2nd line maintenance calls.

• Open locks check interval (mins) - The field determines how often (in minutes) the systemshould check outstanding FLM Service calls: i.e., calls that have a combination issued but noclose seal entered. If you do not wish to use this feature, enter 0.

Caution: If the value is set too low, it can affect system performance.

When the system checks for open calls, it uses the 1st and 2nd line allowable open times todetermine if a call has been open too long. The system will notify you with a message if acheck is performed and there are outstanding calls that exceed the allowable open timesdefined. A record will also be written to the Activity Log. The following message will display ifno locks have exceeded allowable open time.

• Region Control - This field indicates whether or not you want to use the Region Controlfeature. The Region Control feature allows the grouping of users, locks, and routes intospecific regions. Global data access can be given to some users while data access can belimited for other users to only the users, locks and routes in a specific region.

Page 92: Cencon 2 System 2000 Software Getting Started Guide...2 Getting Started Guide Document Number 2058.075 Rev. D - 02/08 System Requirements Important Note: The minimum system requirements

88 Getting Started Guide Document Number 2058.075 Rev. D - 02/08

• Close Attempts with S Key - This value defines the maximum number of close attempts thatcan be made up through the security level of a Supervisor. Without an S or SS key present, the system will allow a Dispatcher 3 attempts to enter a close seal for an open lock. If thecorrect close seal has not been entered after 3 attempts, the Supervisor key may be placed inthe key reader to allow additional attempts. The number defined here should reflect the 3attempts that are automatically allotted for a Dispatcher plus the number of additionalattempts you would like to allow with a Supervisor key in the reader. If the Supervisor key is inthe reader from the time of the 1st attempt, the maximum number of close attempts will be thisdefined value.

Example:The defined number of close attempts is 7. The Dispatcher, without the Supervisor key inplace, could use 3 attempts, leaving 4 available attempts once the Supervisor key is placedin the reader. Or the Supervisor, with the S key in the reader, may use all 7 attempts if theDispatcher has not made any attempts. Also, a Dispatcher could make only 2 attemptswithout the S key in place, not using the 3 that he is normally allotted. This would leave 5available attempts with the S key in the reader.

After this maximum limit is reached, only the Special Supervisor, whose number of attempts isunlimited, can attempt to close the call. If you do not wish to use this feature, you should setthe number of attempts to 0 which gives the Supervisor an unlimited number of tries whenattempting to close an open call.

• Days to Nickname Expiration - This field designates the number of days allowed to passbefore a nickname for a user expires and must be changed to a different nickname. Nick-names can be designated for FLM and Route personnel for added security purposes. If notusing nicknames in the system or you do not wish to define an expiration time for nicknames, set the value to 0.

• Use Lock Groups - This field indicates whether or not you want to use the Lock GroupsFeature. This feature allows a Lock to be assigned to a group that can only be serviced byFLMs and RSPs who are assigned to service that group. A group is defined by a six characterfield called a Group I.D.

• Use fixed ODBC Connection - This field indicates whether or not you want to use a fixedODBC connection so that the database connection will not have to be defined via the “GetDatabase Connection” screen every time that the Cencon 2 software is loaded. If checked, this option also serves as a security measure so that all logon users will not have access tothe database connection information. It is recommended that this option be selected.

• Path for Route Definition Files - This field defines the directory path where your RouteDefinition Files are stored. The default value is the location of the Cencon 2 installation asdefined during the installation process.

• Data Source Name - This field defines the data source name for the Cencon 2 data files.

For New Install of Cencon 2

To start the Cencon 2 System, you must add at least a Supervisor and a Special Supervisor ID tothe system. Because this is a new installation and this procedure has not yet been performed, thefollowing prompt window is displayed.

1. Click on the OK button. The Add a new User ID window is displayed.

Page 95: Cencon 2 System 2000 Software Getting Started Guide...2 Getting Started Guide Document Number 2058.075 Rev. D - 02/08 System Requirements Important Note: The minimum system requirements

2. Add a Supervisor ID and a Special Supervisor ID to the system by entering data for thedisplayed fields for each ID type. Instructions for adding these two IDs are included in thefollowing “Initialize Special Supervisor” and “Initialize Supervisor” sections. Ensure that theappropriate key is in the reader at the time that the user is added.

Initialize Special Supervisor2a. Ensure a black SS key is in position 3 of the Key Reader.

Page 96: Cencon 2 System 2000 Software Getting Started Guide...2 Getting Started Guide Document Number 2058.075 Rev. D - 02/08 System Requirements Important Note: The minimum system requirements

92 Getting Started Guide Document Number 2058.075 Rev. D - 02/08

Note: Position 0 is next to the cable end of the key reader. From the cable end the positionsare numbered 0, 1, 2, 3 as shown below. You may have a key reader that has the keysinserted from the side instead of placed in the reader from the top.

2b. Enter a User I.D. for the Special Supervisor (maximum of 64 characters). Keep in mindthat this field is case sensitive and recognizes spaces as well as characters.

Note: Suggested User IDs: User IDs are very critical in the Cencon 2 System. They are casesensitive and can be up to sixty-four (64) characters in length. However, if you are usingCenTran 2 in conjunction with your Cencon 2 system, you need to consider that the CenTranUser I.D. field is limited to 20 characters. Using “Bill” as a user ID is valid, however, you mayhave more than one “Bill” in your organization. Using “98709003” as a user ID is also validbut may get confusing. Additionally, in dispatching a person we know as “Bill” using thenumber “98709003” as the user ID can also be confusing. It is suggested that user IDs bealpha or alphanumeric. It is also suggested that you use “Nicknames”. For example, a usercan be identified as “FLM1” and use “Bill N” in the Nickname field. Another example couldbe a user identified as “Tom1” and use “Flemming” (last name) in the Nickname field.Spaces are allowed in ID fields so “Bill Jones” is valid. However you choose to identifyusers, some thought should be given to it before you begin.

2c. For Nickname, enter a nickname for the Special Supervisor, if desired.

Caution: Nicknames can be up to sixty-four (64) characters in length. However, if you are usingCenTran 2 in conjunction with your Cencon 2 system, you need to consider that the CenTranNickname field is limited to 10 characters.

2d. For User Type, click on down arrow. Select SS - Special Supervisor.

2e. For User Password, enter a password that will be used for logon to the Cencon 2 System2000 Software in conjunction with the user key.

Caution: User Passwords are case sensitive and can be up to sixty-four (64) characters inlength. Since the User Passwords for Software Users (black SS, S, and D keys) are used aslogon passwords for the software, they should be kept secret.

2f. For Lock Group, leave the field blank. This field will only apply to FLM technicians andRoute Personnel who will be accessing the locks.

0 1 2 3

2g. Window Opening Information - The next group of fields is used to define a time slot, or aseries of time slots, during which the user is authorized to access the Cencon PC systemor to the locks. If this group of fields is left blank, the user will have unrestricted timeaccess. Otherwise, users are assigned specific time windows in which they haveauthorized access to the PC system, if they are a logon user, or to the locks, if they are anFLM or Route technician. There can be different times for different days of the week ormultiple windows on particular days. Up to three sequences of days and times can beentered for each user.

Warning: If you define time access windows for your system users, be sure to take intoconsideration time orientaton changes if applicable (i.e., Standard Time to DaylightSavings and vice versa). Your PC system will automatically adapt for these time changes, but the time windows carried in the keys will be off by an hour when your PC systemgoes to a different time orientation. To alleviate this problem, you can have a +1 hourand -1 hour allowance in your time window. If security measures will not tolerate thistype of allowance in the window, each user’s key must be brought back to the systemfor updating when the time changes. The function in the PC Software that is used toupdate the time windows in the keys is Change A User ID and is found on the User ID/Key Maintenance Menu under the Special Supervisor’s functions. For more detail seethe section on Change A User ID in the Cencon Software chapter of the ReferenceManual.

There are three fields used to define the user’s access windows:

Days Window in Effect - This defines which days of the week the user is authorized toopen locks. It can be from one to all seven days. Place the cursor on each box you wantto select and press the spacebar to select that day or just click on the box with the mousepointer.

Start Time - This is the time the authorization time slot starts. The time can be entered ina twelve hour, am/pm, format, such as “02:30 p”, or in 24 hour format, such as “14:30”.

Duration - This field is the length of the time period (in hours and minutes) that the useris authorized to access the locks. This is not the “end time” for the authorized accessperiod.

For a Special Supervisor, it is recommended that the Window Opening Information be left blankto allow unrestricted access to the system.

2h. You can click on the Extended Data tab for optional information that can be entered forthe user.
