PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES
CENTER FOR INSURANCE POLICY & RESEARCH (CIPR) SESSIONS
VINCE BODNAR CHIEF ACTUARY LTCG
Vince Bodnar is recognized as one of the leading long-term care insurance experts
in the country. He was recently named one of the 20 most creative people in
insurance by LifeHealthPro.com. He has 31 years of experience with life and health insurance
products, with a concentration in long term care since 1990. He has led projects related to in-force
management, experience analysis, strategic planning, financial analysis, projections, reinsurance,
reserve valuations, product design and pricing.
Mr. Bodnar joined LTCG from Towers Watson. Prior to that he was with DaVinci Consulting Group
LLC, which he co-founded. Prior positions include principal with Milliman, Inc., chief actuary for one
of Genworth’s strategic business units, and consulting actuary for KPMG. Projects led by Mr. Bodnar
in the area of long-term care include: long-term care morbidity, lapse and mortality experience
studies; development and implementation of first-principles long-term care projection models;
preparation of independent claim and gross premium valuation reserves; reconciliation of client
projection model assumptions to emerging experience; premium rate increase filings; life and
annuity long-term care combination product development; and actuarial appraisals of insurance
companies and blocks of business.
Mr. Bodnar is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of
Actuaries. He is currently the Vice-Chair and was recently the Chairperson of the Society of
Actuaries Long-Term Care Insurance Section. He was the Chairperson of the 2007 and 2011
Intercompany Long-Term Care Insurance Conferences and currently serves on the conference’s
board. He frequently speaks at insurance meetings and has published papers on the topic of long-
term care.

BARBARA F. COX SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF LEGAL & REGULATORY AFFAIRS NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF INSURANCE GUARANTY FUNDS (NCIGF)
Since 1993, Barb Cox has served as a staff attorney for NCIGF working on drafting
of model legislation, and acting as a technical resource for promoters of legislative
efforts. Currently, she serves as senior vice president of legal and regulatory affairs, overseeing the
NCIGF legal operations.
She works with a number of NCIGF committees and coordinates guaranty fund activities related to
large, multi-state insolvencies. She has offered expert advice to the NAIC, NCOIL and other groups
in developing model insolvency laws.
Barb earned her BA degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and her law degree from Indiana
University. She holds the designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).

ROBYN CROSSON ACA CENTER OF EXCELLENCE AND COMPLIANCE EXECUTIVE ADP TOTALSOURCE
Ms. Robyn Crosson, J.D., F.L.M.I., joined ADP TotalSource in August 2011 as
senior counsel. In August 2015, she accepted a position as ACA Center of
Excellence and Compliance Executive in the ADP TotalSource Benefits Division. Prior to joining
ADP TotalSource, Ms. Crosson served as chief deputy commissioner at the Indiana Department of
Insurance (IDOI). In this capacity, she reviewed all rate and form filings for life/health and property
and casualty for the state of Indiana. In addition, she served as the chief legislative liaison with the
Indiana General Assembly, as well as the IDOI representative for the Governor’s Health Care
Reform Task Force.
Ms. Crosson’s 20+ years in insurance experience is broad and across several types of insurance.
She began her insurance career at Golden Rule Insurance Company, now a subsidiary of United
Healthcare, focusing on claims review. Subsequently, she focused on compliance at American
United Life and small group health insurance pricing in the actuarial department of Anthem. From
2002 until joining the IDOI in September of 2009, Ms. Crosson, as senior associate at Proskauer,
represented corporations and individual policyholders on coverage matters relating to general
liability, fiduciary liability, workers’ compensation, fine art/collectible, directors’ & officers’, health, life,
captive and reinsurance policies. She is admitted in New York, Illinois and Indiana (2003, 2009 and
2010). She is a graduate from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and the Indiana
University School of Law.
Ms. Crosson served as the first chair of the NAPEO Health Care Reform Task Force – Best
Practices Committee, drafting much ACA guidance for the industry, serving on NAPEO panels and
multiple webinars. She also has been a panelist discussing ACA and PEO issues at the American
Payroll Association, the National Conference of Insurance Guaranty Funds, the American Bar
Association Section of Taxation, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the
National Conference of Insurance Legislators.

JOHN CUTLER SENIOR FELLOW NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SOCIAL INSURANCE
Over the last 25 years, in both the public and private sectors, John Cutler has
developed and applied unique expertise in the areas of health care, Medicare,
long-term care insurance, disability, aging, and insurance benefit design. Since his retirement from
the federal government he has maintained a consulting business and is a senior fellow for the
National Academy of Social Insurance as well as a special advisor to the Women’s Institute for a
Secure Retirement (WISER). He is also active in several Society of Actuary committees and was
one of the award winners for his paper for the SOA’s monograph series on “Managing the Impact of
Long Term Care Needs and Expense on Retirement Security” in 2014.
Until July 2015, he served in the new National Healthcare Operations health care reform office of the
U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). His work on the Multi-State Plan Program at OPM
helped stand up insurance products on the health care Marketplaces (Exchanges) nationwide. Prior
to that he was a senior policy analyst at OPM (2006-2011) and was the architect and project leader
for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (2000-2003).
From 2005 to 2006, Cutler was detailed to the Center for Planning and Policy Development with the
U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA). He was responsible for assisting with the re-authorization of the
Older Americans Act and Long Term Care Awareness Campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS). He was involved in the development of the National
Clearinghouse for Long-Term Care Information (found at www.longtermcare.gov) which is the
mechanism by which Congress and the Administration help educate Americans about long term care
planning.
Cutler joined the federal government in 1997 as a health policy analyst in the Office of the Assistant
Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) at HHS. His responsibilities for policy and research
included long term care financing and insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, aging, and disability issues.
Prior to that he worked for 8 years at AARP, with responsibility for regulatory and compliance
matters involving AARP's long term care and Medigap insurance as well as other products.
Prior to that, he was a partner in MacMeekin, Cutler & Woodworth, a small law firm in Washington,
DC dedicated to Pacific and territorial legal matters. Cutler holds a BA degree from the University of
Virginia in government and foreign affairs and a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia. He is a
member of the Bar in the District of Columbia.

TRACY DOLIN-BENGUIGUI DIRECTOR, INSURANCE RATINGS S&P GLOBAL RATINGS
Tracy Dolin-Benguigui is a director in the North American Practice of Standard &
Poor’s Insurance Ratings. She has analytic responsibilities for a portfolio of the
largest property casualty insurance and reinsurance companies in North America and Bermuda. She
also is the analytical lead for publication of commentaries related to the U.S. personal and
commercial lines sectors, including the semi-annual P/C insurance sector & economic outlook and
topical research including cyber, G-SII/US SIFI, M&A trends and TRIA. In addition, she chairs the
Americas analytical oversight consistency council, North American standing research council, and
co-chairs a focus teams covering the global multiline insurance market and global regulatory &
accounting developments. Tracy has spoken on property casualty insurance industry and ratings
trends at numerous conferences and maintains a regular dialogue with investors, media, industry
groups, intermediaries, and rated insurers.
Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s in 2005, Tracy was an insurance broker at AON Risk Services.
Her responsibilities included client relationship management and insurance placements for middle
market, healthcare and Japan based clients.
Tracy holds a B.A. from Brandeis University with a double major in Economics and Health, Law and
Society interdisciplinary program. Tracy acquired a New York Property & Casualty Insurance
Brokerage License during her tenure at AON.

ELIZABETH KELLEHER DWYER SUPERINTENDENT OF INSURANCE RHODE ISLAND DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS REGULATION
Elizabeth Kelleher Dwyer was appointed Deputy Director and Superintendent of
Insurance and Banking on January 11, 2016. Prior to this appointment, she had
been employed by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation for 15 years, first as
general counsel to the insurance division and later as associate director. Prior to government
service, Dwyer was engaged in private law practice in California and Rhode Island, specializing in
insurance regulation and litigation.
Dwyer is a past president of the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association and served on the Rhode
Island Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Gender in the Courts. In 2010, she was awarded the
Rhode Island Attorney General’s Justice Award for Consumer Protection. She has served as chair of
a number of NAIC working groups and has achieved the designation of Professional in Insurance
Regulation from the NAIC.
Dwyer was admitted to practice law in California in 1985, Rhode Island in 1994 and Massachusetts
in 1996. She is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts of California and Rhode
Island and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science
and public administration from Providence College in 1982 and a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine
University in 1985.

RAYMOND G. FARMER DIRECTOR SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE
Raymond G. Farmer was appointed by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to serve as Director for the South Carolina Department of Insurance on November 13,
2012. With more than 40 years’ experience, Farmer earned his bachelor’s degree in insurance from the University of Southern Mississippi and earned his law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.
Farmer served as the deputy insurance commissioner of the Enforcement Division for the Georgia Department of Insurance and more recently as vice president for the American Insurance Association. As a part of his service, Farmer has served for more than 30 years on the board of directors of the Georgia Arson Control Program, an organization aiding firefighters and prosecutors combating arson. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and a member of the Tort and Insurance Practice section, as well as the Workers’ Compensation section.
In 2012, Farmer was awarded the Herman Hass Award by the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia for service to the insurance industry. Also in 2012, he received a Presidential Citation for Outstanding Service to the insurance industry from the Professional Insurance Agents of Georgia. Recently, Farmer received the 2014 Industry Person of the Year from the Independent Agents and Brokers of South Carolina.

JOHN FINSTON GENERAL COUNSEL AND DEPUTY COMMISSIONER CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE
On July 6, 2015, Mr. Finston was appointed by California Insurance Commissioner
Dave Jones to the position of general counsel and deputy commissioner. In this
position, he supervises 160 attorneys and staff in nine legal bureaus, and is responsible for advising
the Insurance Commissioner on all legal issues and litigation pending before the Department. Prior
to being appointed general counsel, he was deputy commissioner for corporate & regulatory affairs
since January 17, 2012. In this position, he was responsible for supervising the Corporate and
Regulatory Affairs Branch of the California Department of Insurance, which evaluates regulatory
applications, reinsurance agreements and trusts, holding company act filings required by insurers
doing business in the state of California, the conservation and liquidation of insurers and oversight of
surplus lines insurance issues. He also represents California as the chair of the NAIC Receivership
and Reinsurance Task Forces.
On January 13, 2013, Mr. Finston was appointed to a four-year term as a member of the Board of
Directors of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to fill the board position set aside for an
individual with reinsurance and regulatory experience.
Prior to his appointment as a deputy commissioner, Mr. Finston was a senior partner in Denton's
insurance practice and was chair of the firm’s Insurance Regulatory Practice Group. His private
practice spanned over thirty years and included representing companies on reinsurance,
transactional, insolvency and regulatory issues.

NICK GERHART COMMISSIONER IOWA INSURANCE DIVISION
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad appointed Nick Gerhart to serve as Insurance Commissioner beginning February 1, 2013. Gerhart serves on the NAIC Executive
(EX) Committee, Life Insurance and Annuities (A) Committee, Financial Condition (E) Committee and International Insurance Relations (G) Committee. In addition, Gerhart is a board member of the NIPR.
Gerhart was named by the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury Department) in 2014 to serve on the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (FACI), which advises the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) on domestic and international policy. He has represented the NAIC at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and at the EU-U.S. Insurance Dialogue Project.
Gerhart is a recognized thought leader on health care matters and has been at the forefront during the implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA). He also led the team that created and hosted the Global Insurance Symposium in Des Moines, IA, an event that attracted more than 350 people from all over the world to discuss emerging issues in insurance. Gerhart is passionate about educating Iowans on insurance and investment matters and created Iowa Fraud Fighters, a statewide initiative that aims to educate seniors on how to protect themselves and not fall prey to fraudulent investment scams.
Prior to being appointed Insurance Commissioner, Gerhart worked at Sammons Financial Group and American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company. Gerhart is active in the Des Moines community and currently serves as vice chair of the Iowa Homeless Youth Centers. He earned his law degree and health law certificate from St. Louis University School of Law and a Masters of Health Administration from St. Louis University School of Public Health. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

JAN GRAEBER DIRECTOR AND CHIEF ACTUARY, LIFE AND HEALTH ACTUARIAL OFFICE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE
Jan Graeber is director and chief actuary of the Life and Health Actuarial Office of the Texas
Department of Insurance (TDI). Ms. Graeber graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with
a Bachelor of Business Administration in actuarial science. She is a member of both the Society of
Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries.
Ms. Graeber joined the Texas Department of Insurance in 1994 and has extensive experience in the
review analysis of life, accident, and health policy forms and rates. She also represents TDI on
various National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Subgroups and Task Forces,
including serving as chair of the NAIC Long-Term Care Pricing Subgroup. In addition, Ms. Graeber
provides comments and recommendations regarding legislative implementation, rule and bulletin
development, and assistance to TDI’s consumer protection and government relations sections with
the resolution of consumer and legislative inquires and complaints regarding rating issues.

ADAM HAMM COMMISSIONER, NAIC IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT NORTH DAKOTA INSURANCE DEPARTMENT
Adam Hamm was appointed Insurance Commissioner in October 2007. He was elected to a four-year term in November 2008 and again in 2012. Hamm has a
strong and varied background that includes experience in public service and in the private sector. Hamm’s dedication and desire to serve the public was in part borne out of his experiences seeking justice for personal crime victims as a prosecutor for the Cass County State Attorney’s Office.
Hamm also worked as an attorney in private practice, advocating for North Dakota businesses and individuals. He specialized in a number of areas, including commercial litigation and administrative agency law.
Hamm is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and earned his Juris Doctor degree, with distinction, from the University of North Dakota School of Law.
Hamm is very active in the NAIC, the association made up of the chief insurance regulators from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories. He is a past president of the NAIC, serves as the chair of the Cybersecurity (EX) Task Force and is on numerous committees.
In September 2014, Hamm was appointed by the NAIC to the U.S. Financial Stability Oversight Council as the state insurance commissioner representative. In this role, Hamm represents the interests of all the nation’s state insurance regulators. The Council was created by the federal Dodd-Frank Wall Street Protection and Consumer Protection Act in 2010 to monitor the safety and stability of the nation's financial system and coordinate a response to any threats.

JENNIFER WOLF HOREJSH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS (IAIABC) As the executive director of the IAIABC, Jennifer Wolf Horejsh works with the
IAIABC community to advance the efficiency and effectiveness of workers’ compensation systems
throughout the world. She connects with industry professionals from around the globe to identify
emerging issues, develop resources, and reinforce the social purpose of workers’ compensation
programs.
Ms. Horejsh is in danger of becoming a work comp wonk. She has authored numerous articles on
workers’ compensation management and regulatory topics. She has also presented on the history,
foundations, and structure of workers’ compensation in the United States. You can hear her
perspective on workers’ compensation during the IAIABC’s monthly podcast, Accidentally. Even
though Jennifer accidentally fell into workers’ compensation, she appreciates the important role it
plays in our health, safety, and security at work.
Ms. Horejsh manages five staff and works closely with the IAIABC Board of Directors and other
association leaders. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in chemistry. Her
degree is put to good use with baking experiments in her free time.

RICK LACAFTA DIRECTOR OF INSURANCE SERVICES FINANCIAL SERVICES INFORMATION SHARING AND ANALYSIS CENTER (FS-ISAC) Rick Lacafta has over 40 years of experience in information technology,
information security and legal compliance management with Travelers Insurance, Citigroup,
Primerica and CitiFinancial and most recently, FS-ISAC, on diverse assignments. Mr. Lacafta was
chief information security officer for Travelers Insurance from 1999 to 2011, and senior legal
compliance officer from 2008 to 2011.
Mr. Lacafta has served on several committees on the FSSCC (Financial Services Sector
Coordinating Council), the Threat and Intelligence Committee of the FS-ISAC (Financial Services
Information Sharing and Analysis Center), the Independent Insurance Agents Council on
Technology, IBM Privacy Council and AT&T Technical Advisory Committee.
He currently serves as director of insurance services for the FS-ISAC, a Washington, DC based non-
profit organization providing cyber intelligence to leading financial services companies. He is
managing the Insurance Risk Council and Compliance and Audit Council for the FS-ISAC.
Mr. Lacafta is a frequent presenter at information security and business conferences, as well as
managing content for FS-ISAC’s U.S. and international information security summits. He also works
with several businesses as an information security advisor.

PATRICK H. MCNAUGHTON CHIEF EXAMINER, COMPANY SUPERVISION DIVISION WASHINGTON STATE OFFICE OF THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER (OIC)
Since joining the OIC in 1999, Patrick McNaughton’s primary duties have been to direct and lead staff in the financial solvency examinations of domestic insurance companies. He was recently appointed chair of the OIC Executive Management Team’s Cybersecurity Task Force. He has also represented Washington State as the chair of several NAIC working groups and task forces as follows: Information Technology Examination Working Group; Financial Examination Coordination Working Group; NAIC Chief Financial Regulators Forum; Financial Examination Coordination Regulator Issues Subgroup and Health Industry Subgroup; Blanks Working Group Schedule T Subgroup; Financial Examiners Handbook Technical Group-Risk Retention Subgroup and Examination Reporting Subgroup; and the Health RBC Working Group. He has also served or serves as a member of the following groups: Cybersecurity Task Force; Financial Examiners Handbook Technical Group; Financial Condition Committee; Examination Oversight Task Force; Risk Assessment Working Group; Risk Assessment Implementation Subgroup; Capital Adequacy Task Force; Reinsurance Task Force; Valuation of Securities Task Force; Solvency Modernization Initiative Working Group, and the Corporate Governance Working Group. In 2008, he was named as the Western Zone representative as a member of the Board of Directors of the NAIC Professional Designation Advisory Board. Mr. McNaughton has also been an instructor at the Insurance Regulator Program at the Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services at Illinois State University since 2006. He has also taught numerous courses on Risk-Assessment for the NAIC and has been invited to teach at the annual Society of Financial Examiners Career Development Seminar, the annual Insurance Regulators Examiners Society Career Development Seminar, and the National Council of Insurance Guarantee Funds annual conference. Prior to his employment in Washington State, Mr. McNaughton served as the chief examiner for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, DC. He supervised the internal control reviews and financial assessments of Federal Reserve System’s nationwide banking, accounting and computer operations. He also provided operational best-practice consultation to CEOs and CFOs of all Federal Reserve Districts including extensive risk assessments of all Federal Reserve investment portfolios, corporate governance and effectiveness of control compliance, and problem management of Reserve Bank practices and reporting mechanisms. Mr. McNaughton has provided consultant services through the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Treasury Department to the Directors of the National Bank of Russia, the National Bank of Kazakhstan, and the National Bank of Kirgizstan, on corporate governance, internal audit best practices, IT audit processes, and risk assessments of accounting and payments systems. In 2012 and 2014, he also provided consultant services to the Federal Financial Services Authority in Albania in the development of an insurer solvency early warning system. Mr. McNaughton has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, with majors in accounting, computer science and economics. In 2014, Mr. McNaughton received the Governor’s Award for Leadership in Management as one of the top managers in Washington State.

DEBAPRIYA MITRA SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS STRATEGY GENWORTH FINANCIAL – U.S. LIFE DIVISION
Deb serves as the senior vice president of business strategy for Genworth’s U.S.
Life Division and is also responsible for leading the IncomeAssurance business
venture.
Mr. Mitra joined GE Financial Assurance, the predecessor to Genworth, in 2001 and led the North
American Audit function. He then served as the business development leader for Genworth’s Long
Term Care business. Prior to Genworth, Mr. Mitra held various risk management leadership roles for
GE Capital’s Commercial Finance business in India.
Mr. Mitra holds an M.A in Economics from JN University, India and an MBA from Faculty of
Management Studies, University of Delhi, India.
Mr. Mitra resides in Richmond, VA with his wife and two daughters and is a long distance caregiver
to his mother who resides in India. He has a keen interest in issues of senior care and developing
comprehensive solutions for the growing Long Term Care need in the United States. He is actively
engaged with multiple philanthropic organizations in the Greater Richmond community.

ANGELA NELSON DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF MARKET REGULATION MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE
The director of the Market Regulation Division and chief industry liaison, Angela Nelson has been with the Missouri Department of Insurance since 2002.
Before leading the Market Regulation Division, Angela was the director of the Consumer Affairs Division. In that position, she led the department’s recovery efforts on behalf of victims of the May 22 Joplin tornado. Through the efforts of her division, Missouri consumers recovered an additional $19.2 million dollars in 2011, a record amount for the Department. Angela received the Graduate College Award in 2012 from William Woods University in recognition of her efforts on behalf of Missouri insurance consumers. Angela is active within the NAIC, serving on numerous committees and task forces. She currently serves as chair of the Transparency and Readability Subgroup (C Committee), Consumer Information Subgroup (B Committee) and the Consumer Outreach and Assistance Post-Disaster Subgroup (C Committee). Angela graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in management and earned an MBA from William Woods University.

ROBERT A. PARISI, JR. MANAGING DIRECTOR & NATIONAL PRACTICE LEADER FOR NETWORK SECURITY & PRIVACY RISK MARSH Robert Parisi is a managing director and national practice leader for network
security & privacy risk in Marsh’s New York City headquarters. His current responsibilities include advising clients on issues related to intellectual property, technology, privacy and cyber related risks as well as negotiating with the carriers on terms and conditions.
Prior to joining Marsh, Mr. Parisi was the senior vice president and chief underwriting officer (CUO) of eBusiness Risk Solutions at AIG. Mr. Parisi joined AIG in 1998 as legal counsel for its Professional Liability group and held several executive and legal positions, including CUO for Professional Liability and Technology. While at AIG, he oversaw the creation and drafting of underwriting guidelines and policies for all lines of Professional Liability. Mr. Parisi was also instrumental in the development of specialty reinsurance to address aggregation of risk issues inherent in cyber, privacy and technology insurance. In addition to working with AIG, he has also been in private practice, principally as legal counsel to various Lloyds of London syndicates. While at Marsh, Mr. Parisi has worked extensively with Marsh clients in all industries, assisting them in analysis of their risk as well as in the placement of coverage for cyber and privacy risks. Mr. Parisi holds a JD from Fordham University School of Law and a BA in economics from Fordham College.

WALT POWELL SOLUTION ARCHITECT OPTIV SECURITY
Walt Powell is a seasoned security professional with over ten years of technical
leadership experience. As a solution architect he provides a variety of Fortune 100
and governmental clients with architectural and design support for security solutions. Mr. Powell
delivers his clients product engineering, compliance, audit and assessment expertise to securely
enable their businesses by aligning business goals with their security programs.
Mr. Powell began his sales engineering role in the Silicon Valley / San Francisco Bay area where he
had the opportunity to work with many of the top security companies as both a vendor and a client.
Walt has had the opportunity to visit EBCs for most of the top security control manufacturers.
Prior to joining the FishNet team, Walt served as the program director for the associate of
networking security degree program at Wright College. In 2012 he brought his talents to Fishnet as a
security training consultant, where he performed Security Governance, Management and
International standards certification consulting in addition to delivering on site and classroom based
instructor lead corporate security training. Walt has delivered and developed curricula, courseware
and content for dozens of cyber security courses including CISSP, CISM, Security+, Checkpoint and
F5 Networks.
Mr. Powell is a subject matter expert in security architecture but has additional focused expertise in
application delivery and security. He heads the national Optiv Application Security SME Team and is
a member of the F5 Certified Speaker’s Bureau. Powell holds over 50 professional, technical,
training, engineering and sales certifications including CISSP, CISM, F5TS, CCSA, etc. He is an
active member of several industry and professional organizations including ICS2, ISACA, ONF and
CSA where he participates in exam development committees. Walt has also delivered several
keynote and guest speaker engagements in addition to writing several technical papers and solution
briefs.
