Senate Recommendation IV§ “Create a CSU \Center for the advancement of
instruction in quantitative reasoning". As soon as possible, the CSU should create a Center for Advancement of Instruction in Quantitative Reasoning to act on the Task Force's current and subsequent findings, and to support the high-quality instruction in high schools, community colleges, and public universities that will better serve the state.”

§ Review the 12th grade mathematics offerings currently in place by various CSU’s for possible adoption as a transition course.
§ Review the quantitative reasoning offerings currently in place (G requirement in mathematics or one of the sciences and make recommendations for moving forward) for possible adoption as a 4th
Year quantitative reasoning offering.

Five sites have been funded by the state to develop a 12th grade math course and to disseminate their work. The Center will be working very closely with the 4 CSU funded sites in developing and promoting 12th grade course options.

Three sites have been funded previously by the state to provide in-depth professional learning opportunities in mathematics and science for collaborative teams of elementary educators, teachers, and their school-site administrator to improve instructional practice and leadership. The Center has invited these sites to an August 2018 convening to discuss best practices in teaching and learning PK-8 mathematics.
