System requirements Requirements must be met for the:

Operating system

Windows 2003 SP1 or SP2, Standard or Enterprise Edition.

Note: Windows 2003 without SP1 or SP2 is not supported.

You can install on an English or Japanese operating system.

Operating system and hardware as specified by Oracle for one of the following:

• Oracle Server 10.2.0.3 with Patch 1 (5731535) or Patch 16 (6637237), Standard or Enterprise Edition.

• Oracle Server 10.2.0.4, Standard or Enterprise Edition.

Additionally, install the latest critical patch from Oracle.

Processor Minimum: 2.0 GHz or higher.

Recommended: Multiple processors, each 2.0 GHz or higher.

As required by the Oracle specification for the operating system.

Memory Minimum: 2 GB.

Recommended: 4 GB.

4 GB.

Disk space In addition to the space required for the operating system:

• Approximately 200 MB for the Central Designer software.

In addition to the space required for the Oracle installation:

• Approximately 100 MB tablespace for installation, plus additional space as required to accommodate the database.

Connectivity 100/1000 NIC. 100/1000 NIC.

Display • 1024 x 768 or greater resolution.

• 256 or more colors.

No requirements.

CD drive Required for installation, unless you plan to obtain software from the Phase Forward Download Center.

Required only if you need a CD drive to install Oracle Server.

Note: SP1 is highly recommended.

• Microsoft Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 2.0 SP3.

Oracle client components:

• Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 with Patch 1 or Patch 16; or Oracle Client 10.2.0.4.

• Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) 10.2.0.3.0 or 10.2.0.4.0.

• One of the following .NET 2.0 versions of Oracle Data Provider (ODP) for .NET:

10.2.0.3.03 (5916667), version 2.102.3.3.

10.2.0.4.0, version 2.102.4.0.

Note: If you are upgrading, you do not need to uninstall the 1.x version.

One of the following:

• Oracle Server 10.2.0.3 with Patch 1 (5731535) or Patch 16 (6637237), Standard or Enterprise Edition.

• Oracle Server 10.2.0.4, Standard or Enterprise Edition.

Mandatory database components:

• Oracle Text.

• Oracle Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

Services The Distributed Transaction Coordinator service must be running. The service provides transaction support for Central Designer database operations.

No requirements.

Operating system

One of the following:

• Windows Server 2003 SP2, Standard or Enterprise Edition.

• Windows XP SP2, Professional Edition.

Processor Single CPU Pentium 4, 700 MHz or higher.

Display • 1024 x 768 or greater resolution.

• 256 or more colors.

Memory Minimum: 1 GB.

Recommended: 2 GB.

Note: If the computer has less than 512 MB, you cannot install the client applications.

Disk space In addition to the space required for the operating system:

• Approximately 40 MB for both the Central Designer and Central Designer Administrator software.

Software • Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or later (for documentation).

• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5, all with or without SP1.

• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or SP2, or 7.0.

Services The Microsoft BITS Service is required to use the auto-update feature. If the service is not running, automatic updates are not performed, but the Central Designer software can still be used.

Bandwidth between the application server and client computers

Minimum: 1.5 Mbps (T1)

Recommended: 5 Mbps

Rights If the auto-update feature is used, users must have rights to write to the installation directories on their local computers so that they can install updates.

About anti-virus protection Phase Forward recommends that you disable real-time virus protection on the application server; it can have a marked, negative impact on performance. Instead of real-time protection, Phase Forward recommends that you run virus protection software nightly during periods of inactivity.



Oracle component and patch requirements

Minimum Oracle software components required for the database When you create the database instance in Oracle, you must include the following components:

• Oracle Text.

• Oracle Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

Minimum Oracle database patches required for the database

Note: The patches for the Oracle Database Server and the Oracle Client have been set so that both the database and the client use version 4 “TSTZ” (timestamp/timezone) files. The version of these files should always match. This needs to be taken into consideration when applying future patches to the database and/or client. If a future patch for either the database or client changes the version of these files, then the patches for both the client and database should be reviewed.

Note for Oracle Windows patches: When a physical machine is more than one type of server, you will need all the patches that are required for each type server. For example, in a single-tier Central Designer installation, the machine that both the Central Designer Server and the Database Server requires all the patches listed under both the Oracle database and the Oracle client.

Microsoft Windows 32-bit, x86-64, and 64-bit

Install the patches in the order that they are presented.

Notes for Oracle Linux/UNIX patches:

The 10.2.0.3 Patch Set has the same patch number for all platforms. Be sure to select the correct operating system when searching for this patch on Oracle’s Metalink.

The time stamp/time zone (TSTZ) patch has the same patch number for all platforms. Be sure to select the right operating system when searching for this patch on Oracle’s Metalink. After conducting the search on Metalink, multiple versions of Oracle are listed for this patch. Be sure to select version “10.2.0.3” (except for Red Hat Linux 64-bit – see patch table notes).

Phase Forward supports the Red Hat Linux AS/ES version 5 (32-bit, x86-64 and 64-bit) platforms for Oracle 10.2 as Oracle supports these. Installation of Oracle 10.2 on Red Hat Linux AS/ES version 5 has special notes and instructions available from Oracle. Contact Oracle support for installation details and instructions. The Oracle version for Oracle 10.2 on Red Hat Linux AS/ES version 5 (32-bit, x86-64 and 64-bit) platforms should be 10.2.0.3 (Patch Set 2 for Oracle 10.2) and version 4 TSTZ (timestamp/timezone) files should be applied to the Oracle software installation. The Windows Oracle client contains version 4 TSTZ (timestamp/timezone) files, thus the database server software should also have version 4 TSTZ (timestamp/timezone) files.



Red Hat Linux 64-bit (versions 3 and 4)



For 10.2.0.3:




3 10.2.0.3 5632264 Time stamp/time zone patch with version 4 files. Patch 5632264 for Oracle 10.2.0.3 for Red Hat Linux 64-bit is not available. Use patch 5632264 for Oracle version 10.2.0.2 (per Oracle Metalink note 413671.1. In that note see "Manually install patch for 10.2.0.2 using <Note:396387.1>" on 10.2.0.3 on Linux Itanium. See note 396287.1 for installation instructions on Oracle 10.2.0.3.

For 10.2.0.4:
