Library Membership
Students, Faculty members, Non-teaching Staff and other members of the staff of the
University are entitled to become member of the Library.
Library Resource
s/ Services
General Rules
i. Every user entering the Library shall sign the Visitor’s Register for the purpose of
records for office use.
ii. Entry is permitted with ID- cum- Library Card only.
iii. The ID- cum- Library Cards are not transferable and must be produced whenever
requested by Library staff. The loss of ID card should be immediately reported to
the Library, so that a duplicate card may be issued.
iv. No personal belonging except wallet and notebook shall be allowed in the library.
All other belongings shall be kept in cloak room at the Library entrance.
iii. Students are required to be properly dressed while coming to the Library. The
library staff has the right to ask users to leave the library if they are inappropriately
dressed or are causing a disturbance.
v. Refreshment of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises.
vi. Users should observe strict silence and switch off their Mobile phones in the Library
premises.
vii. Books and other reading materials must be treated with honor, so that it is prohibited
to underline, write notes or pull out pages there from.
viii. Reading material taken out of the shelves must be kept on the reading tables.
Replacing the documents on the shelves by users is not encouraged as the
documents may get misplaced.
ix. No reading material from the library should be taken out without proper issuing/
recording.
x. Students are liable for punishment and fine, if they either misbehave or damage
Library books or any other property.
xi. Strict discipline must be maintained in the library.
xii. Smoking, spitting and talking in the library is strictly prohibited.
xiii. Violation of library rules or misconduct by a member may invite discontinuation of
the library privileges.

* No books will be issued if fine is above Rs. 50/-.
a. Borrowers must produce their valid ID—cum-Library card when borrowing the books.
b. In case of loss of card (s), the user shall report such loss immediately to the Library In-
Charge, failing which he/she will be responsible for any misuse of his/her card or books
issued against such lost card.
c. New card (s) will be issued by Registrar Office only against a payment of Rs. 200.00
per card.
d. Borrowers must check to see that all library materials in their possession have been
properly checked out to them before leaving the library.
e. The borrower is fully responsible for this books issued against the I-card issued to
him/her.
f. Borrower will be held responsible for any mutilation (including defacement) found in
library materials when returned. They must check and report any mutilation found at
the time of issuing the book.
g. Any book not returned in response to a final overdue notice would be considered as lost
and the member would be asked to pay compensation for the lost book.
h. Dictionaries, Magazines, Reference documents, reserved books, Journals and Print out
of books are not permitted to be drawn. However in case of urgency, the reference
books can be drawn by faculty members for overnight after taking due permission of
the authority. (Form for special permission is available in the reference section of
library).
i. In case only one copy of a particular book is available, it will not be issued to any
faculty member. They are requested to refer the same in library (Reference Section)
only.
j. Each student shall surrender his/her ID-cum-Library card temporarily to the concerned
staff before obtaining ‘Reference Books’. Two ‘Reference Books’ may be provided at
a time.
k. The Librarian will have the power to refuse the issuance of a book to any member or
recall any book without assigning any reason thereof.
l. Students are required to return all the books {including book bank} issued to them
within three days after the semester exams are over. However, final year students will
return all the books issued to them & obtain a NO DUES certificate before examination.
Rules for Faculty Members:
a) The faculty member can draw maximum of 3 books per subject. However, if the
faculty member is teaching more than one subject, total number of books, which
can be drawn is restricted to 6 books at a time.
b) Out of the above one text book per subject can be issued for the whole semester
and remaining books will issued for a period of 15 days only. Faculty members
are requested to approach Librarian for re-issue, if the book is required for
beyond 15 days.
c) If any faculty member desire to draw more than 6 books as permitted above,
faculty members can draw the books after taking permission through respective
Dean – Director – Vice-Chancellor. The duration of such books will not exceed
more than 7 days in any case.

Re-issue:
a) Books shall be re-issued to the same borrower at once only. But, if there is a
demand for the book, the request for renewal may be turned down by the
library.
b) During the examinations, books and publications issued for due period will not
be renewed even if there is no demand for the said books.
c) The librarian can recall books and publications at any time, if need arises.
Reservations:
1. The reservation service can be availed using the reservation form or through
WebOpac
2. Reading material ready for pickup will be kept for 3 days from the date of
return
3. Each member can reserve only one book at a time. All materials on hold must
be collected personally.
RULES FOR LOST AND DAMAGED LIBRARY RESOURCES
The borrower is obliged to compensate lost or damaged items as under:
i. If any, student is found tearing, stealing or defacing books/journals/magazines, a fine of triple the cost of the book will be imposed on him/her.
ii. If any, book issued is lost or not returned within four weeks after due date, the
amount of penalty is as under would be charged along with replacement charge
i.e. Rs. 20/-
a) If the price of the book, is less than 100/- the recovery will be equal
to the cost of the book plus 100/- as penalty.
b) If the price of the book, is equal or more than Rs. 100/- the recovery
will be double the cost of book.
iii. In case of un-reserved publication, the replacement cost {Xeroxing, paper etc.} and
the binding charge may be recovered along with Rs. 100/- as penalty. The final
decision in such case will taken by the Library committee with due approval of the
Vice-Chancellor.
Loss of Card In case of loss of card, the user shall report immediately to the Library In-Charge, failing
which he/she will be responsible for any misuse of his/her card or books issued against such
lost card. New card will be issued by Registrar Office only against a payment of Rs. 200.00
per card.
Book Bank Scheme
i. In Book Bank scheme, any student can choose the books from the list of the book
bank books for each course, Books will be issued to the student after paying the 50%
cost of the book, for the whole semester.
ii. At the end of the semester examination, student will have to return the books to
library, within 3 days of the end of current semester examination and student will be
refund 50 % of the amount of deposited. In case the student returns the books late,
fine will be charged from the students as per library rules.
iii. The procedure for placing demand of the books, payment of money and issue of the
books will be as under:-
a) The books available in the book bank scheme are listed and copy is placed
with the Librarian & also in the library notice board, along with the cost of the
books.
b) Student will note down the details of the book and put up a requisition to
Library In-Charge for the books, he requires to be issued. Librarian will issue
a letter giving detail of the cost of the books.
c) Student will deposit the 50 % cost of the books in account office and will
receive a letter in duplicate authorizing him to collect the books.
d) The student will produce the letter and collect the book from circulation
counter, duplicate copy will be retained at the counter for office record &
original copy will be retained by the student for his record.
Some general information for the book bank scheme is as under:-
e) The books, which have been chosen from the book bank scheme, are the
selected books, which cover maximum syllabus of concerning subjects.
f) Books will be issued for the whole semester.
Students Suggestions & Recommendation
Students can suggest/recommend books of his/her respective subjects to the Central Library
through their concerned course Coordinators/suggestion register.
