Central Glass was founded in 1936 with the aim of manufacturing and selling soda products. With subsequent changes in its business structure including launching into glass business and expansion to fine chemicals business, Central Glass has established the solid business base by covering both “commodities & fine” and “glass & chemicals”. The Company has concentrated its efforts on development of innovative products on the basis of flat glass and chemical products. In the glass business, we offer flat glass for architectural, automotive, information and electronic industries fields. In the chemicals business, in addition to existing chemical products, fertilizers, and glass fibers, Central Glass is now focusing on fine chemicals business taking advantage of our own fluorination technologies and has yielded noticeable results in the field of fluorinated compounds for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and electronic industries. Central Glass Group intends to pursue steady growth and aims to become a globally competitive group that continues to contribute to the prosperity of society through the further development of fine products and environmental and energy-saving initiatives. The Central Glass Group, the sole Japanese manufacturer of ammonium chloride-based fertilizers, offers various fertilizer products including those for rice paddy. Additionally, we focus on the enviromentally friendly coated fertilizer “Ceracoat-R” and we are also developing useful microbial pesticide and microorganism materials for the enviromentally friendly agriculture by using the microorganism that exists in the natural world.

川崎工場は神奈川県川崎市の浮島地区に位置し、1964年に操業を開始しました。社会環境の変化とともに既存の化学品事業から医薬原料や半導体用フォトレジスト樹脂材料などファインケミカル製品の生産拠点に変貌を遂げつつあります。 The Kawasaki Plant started operations in 1964 in the Ukishima district in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. With changes in the environment surrounding our company, the plant has been shifting out of existing chemical product business and emerging as a production foothold for raw materials of active ingredients for pharmaceuticals, photoresist resin materials for semiconductors, and other fine chemical products.

堺製造所は大阪府堺市の臨海工業地帯の中央に位置し、当社ガラス事業発祥の地として1959年に板ガラスの生産を開始しました。現在は松阪工場に統合され松阪工場堺製造所となっています。 The Sakai Manufacturing Site, was established and started operations as a producer of sheet glass in the center of the coastal industrial zone in Sakai, Osaka, the birthplace of our glass business, in 1959. The plant has since been organizationally integrated into the Matsusaka Plant.

松阪工場　Matsusaka Plant松阪工場は三重県松阪市の臨海工業地帯の中央に位置し、1963年に操業を開始しました。現在は当社ガラス部門の主力工場として、建築・住宅用ガラス、自動車用ガラス、各種機能性加工ガラスの生産を行っています。 The Matsusaka Plant was established and started operations in the center of the coastal industrial zone in Matsusaka, Mie, in 1963. As the main facility in our glass division, the plant produces glass for buildings, houses, and automobiles, as well as various functional processed glass.

宇部工場は1936年に山口県宇部市に設立された宇部曹達工業株式会社からスタートし、ソーダ灰・苛性ソーダの生産から、化学肥料、無機化学製品へ事業を拡大してきました。現在は医農薬原薬、ファインガス等のフッ素系ファインケミカル製品の生産も行っています。 The Ube Plant was established in Ube, Yamaguchi in 1936 by Ube Soda Industry, a predecessor to Central Glass, and it has expanded its operations from the production of soda ash and caustic soda to the production of chemical fertilizers and inorganic chemical products. The plant also produces active pharmaceutical ingredients for medicinal drugs and agricultural chemicals, as well as fine gasses and other fluorine-based fine chemical products.

宇部工場に隣接している化学研究所（宇部）では、独創的な技術により、非常に高純度な半導体材料、リチウムイオン電池用電解液等のエネルギー及び環境関連材料などの開発を行っています。新しい時代の市場ニーズにマッチした商品開発に取り組んでいます。 In the Chemical Research Center (Ube) adjacent to the Ube Plant, we are developing the semiconductor related materials with extraordinary high purity and energy-saving, environmentally friendly materials such as Lithium electrolytes for Lithium-ion battery by utilizing our original technologies. We endeavor to develop the materials which will match the market needs of new age.

化学研究所（宇部）　Chemical Research Center（Ube）

埼玉県川越市にある化学研究所では、医農薬中間体・原薬、フォトリソグラフィー用モノマー・ポリマー等、フッ素の特質を活かした化合物の開発を行っています。また、地球温暖化係数（GWP）の低いフルオロ化合物や化学農薬の代替と して使用される微生物農薬の開発等、「地球環境に優しい製品の開発」に焦点をあてた研究開発などに取り組んでいます。 The Chemical Research Center in Kawagoe, Saitama is engaged in the development of chemicals utilizing the specific property of fluorine. The main areas of research are the development of active ingredients and intermediates for pharmaceutical & agricultural compounds and monomers & polymers for photolithography. We are making sincere efforts to focus on the development of environmentally friendly products such as our fluorochemicals which have low GWP (Global Warming Potential) and the development of our microbial pesticides to be used instead of chemicals.

The main areas of research are the development of active ingredients and intermediates for pharmaceutical & agricultural compounds and monomers & polymers for photolithography. We are making sincere efforts to focus on the development of environmentally friendly products such as our fluorochemicals which have low GWP (Global Warming Potential) and the development of our microbial pesticides to be used instead of chemicals.

松阪工場に隣接している硝子研究所では、建築用・自動車用ガラスなどコモディティー分野で培った基盤技術を応用した継続的な商品提案、及び情報・電子産業分野での新規事業の創出に取り組んでおり、高機能ガラス製品の研究開発を進めています。 The Glass Research Center adjacent to the Matsusaka Plant continues to propose new types of glass by applying basic technologies we have accumulated in the commodity fields for architecture, automobiles and others. Their R&D activities are also focusing on high-function glass products for the information and electronics industry.
