1/9/17 USA is a nationally recognized environmental construction contractor that provides services to Fortune 500 clients across the United States. Last year we booked just over $100MM in revenue and we currently have 340 employees across the U.S. Our major office centers are located in New Jersey, Colorado, and Deer Park (headquarters). We offer construction services on environmental projects that include remedial construction, ecological restoration, decommissioning/demolition, radiological material management, and waste management including transportation and disposal. Most of our construction projects have a heavy civil bias, and our project engineers typically come from the civil engineering disciplines. Their day to day activities include interface with design firms such as AECOM, CH2MHill, and ERM to name a few. In addition to working with the design firms, our list of work includes projects for British Petroleum (BP), Dow, and ExxonMobil. Our current need is for a major project in Freeport for a radiological materials management job that will continue on into 2017. The job has been underway for well over a year now, and the additional work just released to us will require us to add a project engineer’s position to our current staff. That position has just now been approved/funded, and we would like to fill this slot with a civil engineer that is interested in heavy civil construction. I’ve asked my Project Director to put together a more formal job description, and we should have that info to you early this week. It’s really exciting to start adding younger talent to our team, and I’m looking forward to working with you through that process. Hello Lee, I hope that you had a good holiday season and that the new year is starting off well for you. Since another semester is beginning, I figured it is a good time to let you know that we are still looking to add new and/or recent civil engineering graduates here in our Dallas, Texas office. Attached is both our flyer and Bridge Designer opportunity position description for your use and distribution (same as what I sent at the beginning of last semester and I just attached them for easy reference).

Your assistance in distributing this information in the past has been very helpful. We have talked to a lot of Aggies over the past several months, and are looking to bring on at least one or two in the spring. Additionally, with our office expansion finally being completed last fall, if any other students are interested in a summer internship position we would be happy to review their cover letters and resumes.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, but here's the intern job description. I really appreciate you being willing to send it out to the engineering students. We have really enjoyed all the A&M students we have hired as interns. I think we will require at least 2 interns this year because one of our big projects under way is the McKinney ISD football stadium - LOTS of concrete and steel!

I don't know if I have shared this with you in the past or not, but whenever the kids are getting ready to leave at the end of the summer, I have a short exit interview with them. I always ask them what is the one thing that surprised them about their experience on the sites where they worked. To a person, they ALL answered something to the effect of "I never knew there were so many problems that come up on job sites every day!"

I worry sometimes that engineering students today in the construction-related fields whose only exposure is the classroom and computers think that's all they have to do - create a model/design of some sort and it will just automatically be done correctly. So I am glad that our interns get some real-life exposure to construction sites and experience in the frequent adjustments that often have to be made AFTER the designs are done.

Hope all is well with you - and thank you again! Marci KawalekGME Consulting Services, Inc. 2526 Manana Drive, Suite 109Dallas, TX 75220http://www.gmeconsult.com/

From: Matt Baacke [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2017 3:22 PMTo: Lowery Jr, Lee L <[email protected]>Subject: Goodwin & Marshall Co-op Opportunity Summer-Fall 2017

Dr. Lowery,

Please post the following job opportunity to the C.E. Listserve and send to anyone that might be interested. Goodwin & Marshall, Inc. attended the recent Engineering Career fair at A&M and met some excellent co-op prospects, but we would like to meet a few more. We are interested in Aggies in the Civil Engineering program that were unable to speak with us at the Career Fair and would like to pursue a Co-op opportunity with our company.

Goodwin & Marshall, Inc. (G&M) is currently seeking undergraduate civil engineering students that are interested in a Cooperative Education Opportunity for the 2017 Summer and Fall semesters. G&M has a well-defined college cooperative education program and for the last 20 years G&M has worked with co-op programs and students from several universities, particularly Texas A&M University. We are looking for civil engineering students that have a superior work ethic, a great attitude, and the desire to gain actual design experience before graduation (Freshman through Seniors are welcome to apply, Seniors must be willing to delay graduation until May 2018 if planning to graduate in December). G&M maintains a full-time staff of professional engineers and surveyors that work closely with the Co-op students to provide what we feel is the best hands on civil engineering design experience available to them. Co-op students at G&M are integral to the design process and will be working on real projects with real deadlines and budgets.

The secondary purpose of the co-op program with G&M is to establish long-term relationships with the highest caliber of engineering student. Most full-time members of our staff began their careers as co-op students, including a handful of Aggies. Since G&M implemented the co-op program, over 80 college students have gained invaluable experience that they have utilized to begin successful careers in civil engineering. The primary benefit to the co-op student is the experience gained before graduation, but the co-op students that work for G&M are also paid an hourly wage plus time and a half for overtime. Additionally, G&M provides free housing for our co-ops!

The G&M office is located in Grapevine, TX which is centrally located within the DFW Metroplex. Additional information can be found on our website at www.gmcivil.com.

Undergraduate civil engineering students interested in this Co-op opportunity can apply by sending their resume to [email protected]. There is also a job posting on the A&M Career Center website. Feel free to email me any questions you might have about the co-op program, as a former A&M civil engineering co-op student, I’ve been in your shoes before.

We are hoping to hire a couple of engineering students as summer interns to assist with some projects that we are in the process of implementing. I understand you recently received a request from Austin Water’s Process Engineering Division to notify students of intern opportunities.

Could you distribute the information below to the Civil Engineering students that may be looking for a good engineering related internship?

3/22/17Dr. Lowery,

Thank you for taking my call today and helping me to find a potential intern from A&M for our summer job opening. Our Vice President, Tom Dayton, is an alumni of A&M!

We have a small firm of 15 employees. JVC has been incorporated for 7 years now and we have 2 locations. Our corporate office is located in Plano to take care of our Dallas clients and is managed by our president, Jay Volk. Our second office, managed by Tom Dayton, is in Southlake to take care of our Fort Worth clients. We have our own survey department with 2 survey crews. Our projects include both private and public, but our biggest projects are private residential communities.

The intern position would be at the Plano location working directly with our president’s team and being trained by our PE’s and EIT’s. The majority of the job would be working in 2017 AutoCAD Civil 3D, but there would also be opportunities to experience other parts of the engineering process such as collecting tax certificates and delivering submittals to municipals.

For any student interested in this position, please have them email me directly at [email protected].

Thank you again for your time. Have a great rest of the week!

Good evening Dr. Lowery –

I’m Texas A&M class of 2010, whoop! I’m a Civil Engineering Project Manager here at Alpine Engineering & Construction. Our website can be found below my signature line. We will take resumes for both Engineering or Construction degrees.

My current focus is to hire an E.I.T.. With that said, I’ll give a general synopsis of the work we do, bullet point reasons as to why I enjoy working for Alpine and what exactly we’re looking for in a New Hire.

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Alpine is ~7-8 years old, and is a relatively small, tight niched company but have doubled in size in the past year.

We deliver full construction phase and engineering design services for projects ranging from small residential improvements to large commercial/industrial developments.

Page 25: Web viewYou have been helpful in circulating this opening in the past so I’m hoping you won’t mind spreading the word about our ... Penta.docx . Thanks, Brian ... ASCE

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS

I thoroughly enjoy working for Alpine because we’re like family here. The Owners genuinely care about their employees and want to see everyone succeed.

With a large variation in project scopes, there is great opportunity here to grow knowledge within all aspects of the Civil Industry and uniquely to our company, get to see how the construction side of things are run as well.

Being that we are a smaller company, the E.I.T. will greatly benefit with much more hands on interaction and direct training than you may see at a larger company.

EXPECTATIONS

Hydraulics & hydrology is key to all Civil Engineering practices and we would like applicants to have at least general knowledge of those topics.

Experience in AutoCAD would also be helpful, but can be learned. An individual who is eager to get their hands on everything and learn more about the industry

and ultimately grow within the company.

Feel free to contact me directly by phone or e-mail to answer any questions and don’t forget to send me your resumes!

THANKS.

Hello Dr. Lowery,

We have our last position left to be filled, being advertising right now. Feel free to share with your December grads. If they have any questions you can have them contact me.

See https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/alaska/jobs/1794888/engineering-assistant-i-ii-iii-pcn-25-dot281

Unfortunately since we are “Government” we have a strict application timeline and the advertised period closes on 8/16/17. However, you can tell them that we can hold the position for 6 months if they are the selected candidate. So we can still grab those December grads.

Dear Mr. Lowery, it was a pleasure talking to you.Sir, as I mentioned, I opened my civil & structural engineering firm back on October 2011. Fortunately I’m getting enough work that I’m in the need of help.

I’m looking for a recent graduate civil engineer who really desires to work and is willing to learn. She or he needs to know how to work with AutoCAD software. I have the opportunity for two people. To: Lowery Jr, Lee L <[email protected]>Subject: Bridge Designer Opportunity at FIGG for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 Graduates

Hello Lee, I hope that you had a good summer and that you are not too severely impacted by Harvey. As another school year begins I wanted to let you know that we are still looking to add new and/or recent civil engineering graduates to our office in Dallas. I enjoyed talking with and meeting a number of students at last April’s SEAoT meeting, and I want to let them know that we are still looking to fill open positions either after the fall semester or the spring semester. Attached is both our flyer and Bridge Designer opportunity position description for your use and distribution.

See http://lowery.tamu.edu/announcements/Figg8.pdf and http://lowery.tamu.edu/announcements/Figg9.pdf

Again, thank you for your help in distributing this information. We just added another Aggie to our staff over the summer, and we are looking forward to adding more young engineers to help with the design and construction of our Texas projects, as well as other great projects around the country!

I hope that you have a good day and I will talk with you later.

Dr. Lowery,

Our company continues to grow and need to hire some more civil engineering aggies! If you could forward the attached recruiting brochure. See http://Lowery.tamu.edu/announcements/WGA2.pdf.

We are mostly aggies, but also have civil engineers from LSU, Rice, UTSA, UT, University of Houston, and Kansas State. The TAMU graduates continue to blow the other schools out of the water. Critical thinking, technical background, fast learners are just a few of the reasons we prefer to hire aggies!

I didn’t appreciate how difficult the TAMU civil program was until I got to the working world.

Thanks again,
