Creative experiences
The accommodation is in a self-catering home with a premium breakfast included.
Guests will be staying in shale houses with all the comfort and convenience of a modern home. The accommodations are independent and are fully equipped for long stays.
All homes are different from each other and are being decorated by some of the best artists of the Portuguese Craft.
The houses were recovered using environmentally friendly materials and traditional methods of construction, giving preference to local suppliers, as well as keeping the traditional façade and the architectural heritage of the village, in total harmony with nature.
Breakfast
The premium breakfast is made of several regional products: rustic-bread, honey from the Lousã mountains, homemade sweet jar, biological tea “Planta do Xisto”and goat cheese. You also have tea, coffee, milk and butter available inside the house.
You will find the breakfast inside your kitchen and a basquet with bread hanging on your door at 8am.

An inspirational hike on the Mountain to find inspiration for the workshop’s personal project.
Workshop de Talha em madeira de castanho
After an introduction to the techniques and raw materials, each participant will develop their own project, accompanied and supported step by step by the course tutor. In a friendly environment of cooperation and mutual assistance among all participants.
The course will germinate in pieces inspired by your experience and stay in this special place: small bas-reliefs that tell us stories in wood.
At the end you will be able to take your finished project with you.
Workshop coordinator: Kerstin Thomas
Kerstin Thomas was born in 1964 in Germany. After taking visual arts, she learned woodcarving in a wood-designing studio. She studied Social Sciences and completed a degree in Portuguese Language and Culture at the University of Coimbra. Settled in Portugal and lives in the village of Cerdeira where, since 1990, has a workshop herself. Although her work in the woodcarving field has different approaches, she has a preference for native wood.
Participated in several national and international fairs and exhibitions in Portugal, Spain and Germany, especially Eunique, the International Fair for Applied Arts & Design.
Won several awards and distinctions.
Mentors and organizes the annual event in Cerdeira “Elementos à Solta” (Elements on the loose), since 2006 with exhibitions and artists of Portuguese Craft.
Dinner “Awakening flavors”
After an exhausting day of work, nothing better than a dinner with several regional flavors.

Cancellation policy
A 50% deposit of the total room cost including taxes is required to secure the reservation. Up to 30 days before check-in: We will refund 80% of the deposit paid. Up to 15 days before check-in: 50% refund of deposit paid. Less than 15 days: No refund.
