What is cerebral Palsy?

• Cerebral palsy is a permanent and irreversible crippling condition affecting the brain and the central nervous system of an infant or a young child.

• At birth:• decreased level of consciousness • seizures • shrill cry • jaundice or yellow skin pigmentation • weakness in the limbs and face • meconium (dark green fecal matter) was

on the baby

3 types of CP

• Spastic CP is the most common, the patient's muscles are stiff and constantly contracted

•Dyskinetic CP is characterized by movement difficulties in the hands, feet, arms and legs, and it can effect the facial muscles.

• Ataxic CP is more rare and causes problems in balance and depth perception. There can also be tremors as these patients attempt to initiate movement

• Physical therapists help children with cerebral palsy learn better ways to move and balance.

A person who takes care of another in the general sense or in the sense of a caregiver or looks after someone who is mentally ill and is not stable to care for themselves

• Cerebral Palsy is a malfunction in the brain, doesn’t kill. They cant do much without a care taker.
