The depth of learning has been fantastic!” YEAR 2 CYM STUDENT The CYM endorsed Cert HE in Theology, Ministry and Mission provides a flexible first stage qualification for children, youth and mission work. Designed for full and part-time workers with limited experience or no formal qualifications, this qualification provides the understanding and skills needed to lead and develop quality provision. It enables you to learn from your on-going work with children and young people, and apply what you are learning directly back to your work. Study days include lectures and seminars with expert tutors; specialist small groups to apply teaching and learning to youth, children’s and schools work; and one-to-one mentoring with experienced practitioners. OVERVIEW COURSE STRUCTURE A typical CYM Endorsed Pathway will include the following: Introduction to the Bible Introduction to Christian Doctrine Introduction to Theology and Human Development Information learning with Children and Young People Spirituality and Discipleship Youth work or Children’s work Values, Policy and Practice BASIC INFORMATION: Title: Cert HE in Theology, Ministry and Mission Validated by: Durham University Endorsed by: CYM Foundation Certificate Cost: location dependant Duration: 2 years TIME COMMITMENT This Cert HE can be undertaken as a stand alone qualification or as a part time course studying alongside degree students. Stand alone Essentials programme will take 2 years to complete and will include 21 study days per year. You can join the course in June, October or February. Other part time routes will vary. Your employer must agree to release you for all the study days - 21 in total per year. Minimum of 10 hours per week ongoing direct involvement in youth, schools or children’s work. COST Stand alone Essentials programme: £4,800 Degree based programme: up to £6,000 Costs will depend on the you are based at but we recommend that employers/supporting churches contribute to fees. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must: Your employer must agree to release you for all the study days - 21 in total per year. Minimum of 10 hours per week ongoing direct involvement in youth, schools or children’s work. Previous qualifications 2 A levels or equivalent (mature students may demonstrate ability to study through an assignment). Previous experience of children’s work, youth work or schools work. DBS and references. Fees - £285 initial registration, and £200 per month for 24 months (£4,800). We recommend that employers / supporting churches contribute to fees. EXIT OPPORTUNITIES On successful completion you will receive a Certificate of Higher Education from Durham University in Theology, Ministry and Mission. You will also gain a Foundation Certificate in either Christian Youth Work or Children’s Work from the Institute for Children Youth and Mission (CYM). Continued studies with CYM could lead to this qualification. This will demonstrate to your current or future employer your capacity and competence in Youth work practice or professional Playwork.

The CYM endorsed Cert HE in Theology, Ministry and Mission provides a flexible first stage qualification for children, youth and mission work.
