TASK TWO | RESEARCH
• Find 5 Examples of ILLUSTRATED ARTWORK that appeal to you.• Research designs that appeal to you. This should be ongoing as you develop
your ideas in the subsequent tasks. Practise using layers & effects in Photoshop.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
• What works and why? Record references for the images. Stick these into your work book. Have a look at http://www.cddesign.com/cd-design-portfolio.html
• 3 type faces that fit your song and target audience• 1 website with examples designs you like.
Example: The hand-rendered type used in this Mint Chicks album suits the illustration style of the cover. It is fun & suits their sound. The illustration, colours & type works well together >>
FIND a font that suits your image (or choose one similar to a font being used in the artwork of the musicians/ bands you have chosen) In this example I have downloaded
the font. Incorporate it into your design- one of the ways to integrate the type into your design is to take the eyedropper tool (Photoshop) and take samples of colour from your image & colour your typography the same. This creates a relationship between the image & the text.
LO 1 Apply a design approach to problem solving. LO 2 Demonstrate a number of design principles. LO 3 Demonstrate the processes of visual communication. LO 4 Demonstrate knowledge of typography.
