At CES students are expected to be SAFE,

be RESPECTFUL and be RESPONSIBLE

Robotics is basically this thing in which children make and program Mbots. The CES robotics has multi-

ple competitions such as jousting or following tracks. Within robotics you use a program based on “scratch’’. While you program you are told the motion of your Mbot. Classes take place in the library, robotics is a more quiet activity for a thinking mind. Robotic club consists of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, 24 students. CES Robotic Club will compete at the district level on May 24th.

Mrs. Valle, coordinator says that STEM is good to be incorporated into our

campus, we need more stu-dents to graduate in Sci-ence and Math. Mrs. Rodri-guez , coordinator says that it is a great opportuni-ty to try and learn new things related to technolo-gy. Zaida says she is learn-ing Math and Science. Vivi-an says she enjoys the building process. Israel says we get to build and program the robot which is fun. In my opinion robotics is a fun and engaging expe-rience to the mind.

Glorious Easter by Cody Villegas

Easter is celebrated around

the world by many Christians.

Easter was made to remember

the day Jesus was resurrected.

The Friday before Easter is

called “Good Friday” this day is

usually a sad day. The bunny

on Easter usually signifies the

only living animal in the cave

with Jesus. In Mexico people

celebrate Easter by telling the

story of how Jesus died, they

have a parade and they have a

play. Emily from 1st grade said

that during Easter she plays

with toys with her family and

eats in some cases potatoes

and macaroni.

Mrs. Vargas spends Easter

with her husband four chil-

dren, her sisters’ family and

her two brothers’ families. Li-

brarian, Mrs. Escobar said she

went to New Mexico to a family

farm. Victoria in the front office

said she celebrates Easter be-

cause it’s the resurrection of

Christ. Mrs. Ramirez said her

favorite part of Easter is

spending time with her family.

In my opinion Easter is a fun

holiday because there are lot

activities to do.

a pensar.

G/T or Gifted and Talented is a program for students with a high level of potential in school. These students are expected to work hard and do well in school. Stu-dents who are in G/T most of the time exceed in school. G/T is where students develop products and high performances outside of the classroom. Gifted and Talent-ed is a term for special students who have high levels of accom-plishments when compared to others and exhibit high perfor-mance capabilities.

5th grader Joaquin said that he

does the news letters for the school and robotics in class. 4th grader Armida said she does Pow-er Point slides about a country that she picked. A 3rd grade stu-dent Chance told me that he is learning about tessellations. 2nd grader Aidean told me he does poster presentations about help-ing the environment. Alex who is in 1st grade told me that he re-searches about animals.

Dr .Seuss was born on March 2, 1904. His real name is actu-ally Theodor Seuss Geisel also known as “Ted” to friends and family. Theodor wasn’t a doctor but he signed his children’s books Dr. because he had earned his PhD in English. He died on September 24, 1991.

school as a student teacher and everybody is very support-ive.

Ms. Patino has two dogs, a Puddle and a Boston terrier. Her favorite pastimes are

watching movies, cooking, and spending time with her family. Her mom and dad are very lov-ing and are always pushing her to be the best she can be. Her favorite movies are come-dies like Princess Bride and The Outsider. Mrs. Patino fa-vorite restaurant is Olive Gar-den for its salads and bread-sticks.

I think Ms. Patino is a great new teacher that helps CES 2nd graders to be the best they can be.

Ms. Patino came in the middle of the year and it was a hard-ship but she was able to comply with the school standards. She got her education from Austin Community College and Univer-sity of Texas at El Paso. The reason she became a teacher was because when she was young she looked up to her teachers and she also loves kids. Her favorite subjects are Reading and Science. She loves to reading stories to her stu-dents especially about those special characters. Science is special because it is very inter-active. She likes teaching here because she is familiar with the

No Place for Hate is a place were they help the schools with bullies to be safe. For about one hundred years they try to help schools. They sometimes try to have parades to get the students happy. They help schools with mostly bullies who hate, sometimes its because the bullies feel small. They really just want to make a student feel important in the school. In my opinion is that No Place for Hate is a re-ally to help schools’ children.

Jacob likes NPFH because they get to work together to stop bullies. Mrs. Cossio said we got the community involved to help with the NPFH parade to be against bullies. Third grade teachers said it promotes student to work together to fight against the bullies. Dead-ra a NPFH student said she liked the parade from all the activities. Mrs. Cossio said that the program has been in place for seven years. We need to earn a star on a banner every year by doing three activates

that all students participate.

I think bullies feel unsure of themselves so they attack stu-dents that don’t de-fend them-selves.

Students need to pass an IQ Test with 118. An average stu-dent has an IQ of 100. The highest IQ in CES is 146. There are 51 G/T students in CES.

I think GT is amazing and cool and it is also challenging to get into it.

Dr. Seuss Continue

Librarian Dora Rodriguez said her favorite book from Dr. Seuss is The Lorax because it’s about saving trees and earth. Mrs. Melendez said she recommends Dr. Seuss books be-cause they’re funny, repetitive and colorful. Gloria from the front office said her favorite part of the Grinch is that at the end his heart grew. I personally love Dr. Seuss books be-cause he’s such a talented writer who writes beautifully. We celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday because it’s the day a wonderful writer was born.
