LA 90077. Extracting 4800 cubic feet of earth is far in excess of what would be safe and appropriate on a residential street in Bel Air, a neighborhood of family homes, even large homes. 4800 cubic feet might be needed for a small hotel on a major public street or boulevard. The impact of this excavation requires many months of daily caravans of heavy machines and trucks, which would impede traffic and prevent passage of emergency vehicles for fire and ambulance services. In addition, it will make it difficult, and at times impossible for residents to enter ana exit their own street, or to reach schools, hospitals and doctors. Dear Councilperson Paul Koretz

We are writing to you to express our grace concern regarding proposed constructions in Bel Air. In this case, we as specifically concerned regarding the planned construction for 1047 Somera Road, LA CA 90077.

During the construction, the site is expected to undergo mayor excavation and the reported exorbitant amount of dirt that is supposed to be transported down the hill in some estimated 565 dump truck loads of earth poses a risk to the safety of our neighborhood. Our children bike or go for a run in these streets, we walk our dogs in these streets, or go for an early morning walk. Worsening traffic and construction vehicles jeopardize our safety. The recent horrific accident on Somera and Chantilly is a tangible illustration of the problem, where a large truck ran into a property. This case thankfully did not result in any injuries or deaths.

In addition, long-term, we are concerned that this specific construction will result in an unreasonable amount of excavation of the hillside along a relatively narrow ridge with consequent increase in the risk of landslides jeopardizing all of our safety.

In the big picture, we are severely concerned about what these many disproportionate mega constructions do to our neighborhood.

It is our understanding that a meeting of the Planning and Land Use Management committee is scheduled for November 21, 2017. We wish to bring above concerns to your attention prior to that meeting and would greatly appreciate if you were willing to meet with our neighborhood association representatives prior to the PLUM meeting so that you are fully aware of our concerns.

With many thanks in advance for your concern.

RE; Somera Road Dangers

I'm a resident on Somera Road and dearly very concerned about the dangers to persons and property via the massive amounts of grading being and to be done on our street and the equipment needed for that work. You are all aware of the bullet that was dodged recently when earth moving equipment cascaded down our street and nearly into a home. It is truly a miracle that nobody was hurt, this time.

We need your help to avoid a catastrophe

I urge you to look deep within your hearts and consider your position if indeed an entire family, including young children would have been killed recently and pursue your actions based on that very scenario instead of simply taking a deep breath, kicking this can down the road and doing little or nothing to address the dangers of heavy equipment traveling on one of the steepest roads in our canyon.

Your prompt attention to this is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

K
