2018 CHAASE BanquetEvery year outstanding students, preceptors and friends of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire HealthCare Administration Program are recognized at the annual spring banquet hosted by the UW-Eau ClaireCenter for Health Care Administration and Aging Services Excellence (CHAASE). Four-hundredparticipants attended this year’s event which was held April 26th at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire, WI.

2018 Care Classic Golf Tournament

This year's CareClassic is on July 16, 2018 at the Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove. The year’s annual forum will discuss the importance of hospitality practices in the field of health and agingservices. There is an opportunity for academics and practitioners to help inform and influence the agingservices field during this changing landscape of care and services about the potential impact of hospitalityapproaches. Promoting the advancement and implementation of effective hospitality practices across thecontinuum of senior care requires progressive leadership and a commitment to improving services forindividuals and the broader field. The quality and sustainability of hospitality approaches and new modelsof care delivery and service depends on good evidence and high impact practices to chart the futurecourse of the field. A panel of respected experts will discuss the impact and upside of hospitality practices for residents insenior care and housing today, and the future possibilities leveraging evidence, existing practices and newperspectives.

Panelists and participants will explore the following questions:• What is the current environment and use of hospitality practices in the field today?• How do the use of hospitality differ across services and settings?• What is the impact of these practices on care and services, and organizational performance?• What are the challenges and opportunities ahead and how might we address them? • What are the new skill sets and talents required for advancing quality of life for leaders? Our current panelists include: David Miller, Executive Director at Friendship Village of Bloomington, a LifeSpace CommunityBrook Hollis, Associate Director, Sloan Program & Institute for Healthy Futures, Cornell UniversityRichard Deahn, Culinary Services Corporate Director, Benedictine Health System Kevin Hansen, an Assistant Professor in the HCAD Program at UW-Eau Claire, will serve as themoderator. The UW-Eau Claire health care administration students have been involved in a variety of appliedresearch projects at their practicum sites, which has led to some interesting findings. This year's practicum



students will be focusing on exploring the hospitality practices across the senior care continuum, includingskilled nursing, rehab services, assisted living, senior housing and home and community based services.

UW-Eau Claire’s Center for Health Administration and Aging Services Excellence is sponsoring this eventwith the support of UW-Eau Claire’s Economics Department and College of Nursing. We are also invitingmembers of LeadingAge Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Health Care Association to join us, along withother interested aging service providers in this region.

New CHAASE CoordinatorCHAASE is pleased to welcome Libby Fandry, the new coordinator for the center. Libby will serve as thekey administrative point of contact for CHAASE, and will assist with marketing, outreach, and funddevelopment for CHAASE and the HCAD program.
