theappliquéoutlinesontoyourfusiblewebandfuse
themittoyourappliquéfabric.Cutouttheshapes,thenfusethefabricshapestothecorrespondingpiecesofthepattern.Thetwoeyesgoonoppositesidesofoneblackballsegmentwhiletheteethgoaroundtheedgesofoneredsegment.Whencomplete,youcaneithersewtheminplaceifyouusedlightweightfusibleweb,butifyouusedthetoughstuffjustironingisenough.
Pairuptheballsegmentsandpinthemtogetheralongonecurvedside.
Pairuptheeyesandteethtogetherandthe
lasttwoblankblacksegmentstogether.Sewuponecurvedsideofthesepairs,butbesuretoleaveasmallopeningintheblackpairforturningrightsideoutlater.

Withbothhalvesoftheballcomplete,putthemtogetherbyliningupalltherawedgesandsewingaroundthecirclethatitmakes.
Turntheballrightsideoutfromtheopeningtoleftinstep2andstufftheballreallyniceandtightwithbatting.Ifyouusedstretchyfleeceandfollowedthegrainlines,you’llfindthatitshouldtakeonaprettydecentsphericalshape.Tuckundertheseamallowancesintheopeningandsewthemclosedwithaladderstitch.Thatfinishestheball!

Upnextisthebaseofthechain.Firstup,sewthebasesidepiecetogether
intoaring,rightsidesfacing.
Usethatringtosewaroundthecircumferenceofthebasebottom.
Besuretoleaveasmallopeningwherethepattern
indicatesforturningrightsideout.You’llfindthatthefleeceshouldstretcharoundthepiece,makingiteasytoconformtothecurves.Whencomplete,repeatthiswiththeothersideofthebasesideandthebasetop,butwithouttheopening.

Whencomplete,turnthebaserightsideoutandstuffitsemi-firmlywithbattingsoitstillretainsitscylinder-likeshape.Tuckintheseamallowancesfromtheopeningandsewitclosedwithaladderstitch.
Allthat’slefttodoisaddittoyourball.Centeritinthemiddleofthepaneloppositetheteethandsewaroundtheperimeterofthebasewithaladderstitch.Ithelpstoholditinplacewithadabofglueorsomepinsgoingdownthetop.

thefinicky-nessofit.Startoffbymakingonechain.Folditinhalfwidthwisewithrightsidesfacingandsewittogetheralongtheshortedge.

trick.Layouttheringflatsotheseamisinthecenter.
Pinchthemiddleoftheseamsoitmovesoutofthewayofthetwolowersideedges.Wewanttobringthosetogethersowecansewthem.

Takeittoyourmachineandsewthoseedgestogetheralittleatatime.Whenyoucan’tsewanyfurther,pulldownthemiddleofthetubetofreethat“trapped”portionfrombefore.Nowyouhavemoretosew!Goingthisway,you’llonlybeabletosewaboutaninchortwoatatime,butyoushouldbeabletogetthroughthewholething.Stopshortabout2”fromthebeginningandthat’syouropeningforturning.

Whenyou’vereachedthestoppingpointandleftanopeningforturning,the
tubeshouldlooksomethinglikethis.Pulloutthe“trapped”
tubefromtheopeningyoulefttorevealacompletelysewnloop!
Justlikewithanyproject,sewtheopeningyouleftclosed.Simplytuckinthe
seamallowanceshereandcloseitupwithaladderstitch.

Now,toaddmorechainstothisconfiguration,wedothesamething,butwe’llhaveanotherchainattachedthewholetimesoit’salittlebitmoreofapain.Thenewchaininthenext4pictureswillberedtodifferentiateit.Startbywrappingthechainpiecethroughthelastchainyoucompleted,thensewtheshortedgejustlikeyoudidinstep9.
Repeatthesamethingasinstep10,pinchingthemiddleoftheloopandbringingtogethertheoutsideedges.Asyoudothis,remembertokeeptheattachedchainattheBOTTOM.Thiswillbecomeveryimportantinstep18.

youbringittothemachine.
Whenyouactuallysewit,you’llonlybeabletodoaninchatatimereally,but
bepatient!Whenyoucan’tgoanyfurther,pulldownthe
fabricfromthemiddleasinstep12bytuggingontheattachedchainlink.Keepdoingthisuntilyou’reabout2”awayfromthebeginningofyourseam,justlikewithstep12.Whenfinished,pullthecompletedchainoutoftheopeningforturningjustlikeinstep13,thensewtheopeningclosedlikeinstep14.Repeatsteps15-18threemoretimestomakeachainof5links.
