Have you or a loved one had
surgery at our hospital? What a
blessing it is to have such critical
health care right here in our
community. Each December,
the Victoria Hospital Foundation
hosts their annual Give a Little
Life Day radiothon to benefit
one major area of our hospital
to further advance, expand
and upgrade equipment and
services.
This year is an Operation of Care as we support our
surgical units.
Our 31 skilled surgeons perform over 300 different sur-
geries each year including:
Mastectomy, tracheostomy, colonoscopy, hernia
repair, appendectomy, colostomy, ulcer perfora-
tion, varicose veins
Cataract s , g laucoma, la ser , neuro -
ophthalmology, carpel tunnel syndrome, knee ar-
throscopy, shoulder surgery
Pediatric, geriatric and adult dental surgeries in-
cluding extractions and restorations and emergen-
cies
We want to provide the very best care to those who
come to us. New equipment is safer in design and in
reliability. It allows for a wider scope of practice within
our facility (less travel to Saskatoon) and it sends our
medical staff the message that their efforts are appre-
ciated and that the communities are standing behind
them.
And with 6,000 surgeries performed annually in our
hospital and more each year, the time has never
been more critical to support our surgeons and their
patients.
Please help us on December 2 and Give a Little Life.
Surgery is often the only therapy that can alleviate
disabilities and reduce the risk for death from common
conditions. It’s an Operation of Care on December 2
and we invite you to please listen. Then, please give.

A Message from our New Board Chair
The last 3 years as a board member of the Victoria Hospital Foundation has been an excellent
opportunity to get involved, make a difference, and support our local Hospital Foundation. I
am now honoured and excited to have been invited to Chair our Board for the next two
years.
Our Foundation has shown tremendous growth and has matured over the last 30 years as we
have continued to grow and establish a strong hospital foundation. Beginning in September
we will be also welcoming 4 new board members! Greg Sproat, Marc Poulin, Colette Harnett,
and Mo Chaudhary had expressed an interest in joining the board and we really look forward
to having them as part of our team – new people bring new ideas which we welcome and look forward to.
The Victoria Hospital Foundation has been in existence for over 30 years. We have only been able to grow and remain
strong because of the strong support we receive from the individuals, businesses, and organizations in Prince Albert and
surrounding communities. As board members and staff, we are passionate about supporting our hospital and health re-
gion. This is extremely important to us, and evidenced by the support we have received over the years, important to our
communities as well. For this, we truly thank you and look forward to your continued support.
Angelo Minier, Board Chair

Marie Antoinette Houle ‘Toni’, knew in her heart that years from now, it
wouldn’t matter what kind of car she drove or how big her house was. Toni
knew our legacy is what we do; the difference we make in the lives of oth-
ers. Marie enjoyed a long and dedicated career as an elementary school
teacher in the Prince Albert area. She inspired and enlightened her young
students and taught them a love of learning through her love of teaching.
She was passionate about supporting those who supported her, including
her church, her family members who she cared for and her community.
When Toni passed away on March 12, 2016 in Prince Albert, she left a gener-
ous gift in her will toward the Victoria Hospital Foundation. She knew years
ago that this decision would impact and help her community for genera-
tions …. long after her community lost her.
As a result of Ms. Houle’s gift, our Foundation was able to meet an urgent
need for our hospital and purchase two pieces of expensive yet vital equip-
ment. A mobile c-arm was purchased which will provide high-resolution X-
ray images in real time, thus allowing our surgeons to monitor progress at any
point during the operation and immediately make any corrections that may
be required. Consequently, the treatment results are better and patients recover more quickly. In addition,
until recently our opthamology and dental surgery units have been sharing the use of one surgical bed. Our
hospital has purchased an additional eye/dental surgical bed in order to ensure both units are now operating
independently and efficiently.
Thank you Marie Antoinette Houle. Your generosity will touch lives in our hospital for many years.
There are a number of ways you can give to the Victoria Hospital through the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
Your gift will aid in the ability for Victoria Hospital to purchase new equipment, upgrade equipment and facili-
ties, and much more to maintain the excellence of patient care.

Our Foundation has reduced our expenses and purchased more equipment! See our
2015 annual report online at www.helpthevic.ca or call 765-6105 for a hard copy.
The residents at Herb Bassett Home needed help! Updated room furnishings, fall mats, tub lifts, blood
pressure machines and mattresses were desperately needed. In particular, a great need for ceiling
lifts and tracks which would mean lessening pain, reducing falls, maintaining skin integrity, and pro-
moting safety. Thanks to Redhead Equipment and their partners, the proceeds from 2016’s Field of
Future which saw 140 acres seeded with Canola, will see to it that HBH residents and staff can pur-
chase many of these important items. Stay tuned to for the final total donated!
