Applications to the Chairman’s Trust must be submitted via a CLSA employee, who is the key point of contact with the funded organisation. CLSA requires staff sponsors to be actively engaged and ready to commit a level of personal time into the project and organisation being proposed.The sponsor must: � Visit the organisation before submitting an application to the Chairman’s Trust

Advisory Committee � Conduct a site visit once per year for duration of funding � Assist the organisation with the Chairman’s Trust application process and

reporting requirements � Remain in close contact with key staff members

The staff sponsorship program ensures accountability, active engagement and involvement in the broader community.

Criteria for fundingAll prospective Chairman’s Trust grant recipients must demonstrate the following:

� Be located in Asia, or in countries in which CLSA operates

� Active support and involvement of a CLSA staff member (the ‘staff sponsor’)

� A clear track record of activity

� A clear capacity to expend grants wisely

� A delineated, accountable plan for success

� Sustainable, measurable results

� Where possible, a level of self-sustainability

� Strong leadership and on-the-ground, local resources

� Clear evidence of support from the local community
