Chairman's StatementDear Members,
It is my privilege to welcome all members to the 96th Annual General Meeting of theBeldih Club.
It is with a very heavy heart that we inform all members that we lost our General Manager,Abhishek Banerjeein a tragic road accident on 17th May-16. Abhishek Banerjee was atremendous asset to the Club and had built a very defining equityamongst the clubmembers.His positive attitude and commitment enabled the club to implement severalimprovements and build cooperative relationship with all the stakeholders. Abhishek issurvived by his wife, a 11 year old son and his parents. On behalf of the committee Iconvey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May I request all members torise to observe a 2 minutes silence as a mark of respect and to remember Abhishek.
The Annual Report for 2015-16 reflects the efforts made by the management of BeldihClub to provide the members with an excellent experience. The focus has been on executingthe basics well, and to be even more responsive to feedback from our members. This hasreflected in larger no of members' participation in the various club events throughout theyear. We would like to thank all the members for their patronage and support.
The financials of the club have shown an improvement. While the topline has been stable, cost remainsan area of continued focus. The club has managed to generate a surplus of Rs 2 lakhs in2015-16 as opposed to a deficit of Rs.9 lakhs thereby recording a positive swing of Rs 11lakhs over last year.
The salient features of the audited annual report are as under.

The Operationalhighlights of the year are as follows
MEMBERSHIP
Total membership of Beldih Club as on 31st March 2016 was 1367 as compared to1318 as on 31st March 2015. (for details please refer to page 16 of this report).
HIGHLIGHTS
Beldih Club this year bagged the 1st Prize for Overall Best Garden in Jamshedpur in theInstitutional category.
Car parking norms within the club premises were revised to provide convenience to memberswith self-driven cars.
FOOD & BEVERAGE:
Weekend Brunches have been introduced at the Tahiti Café - while initial response has beenslow, attendance has been gradually improving. Members are urged to take advantage of theoffer.
Several new dishes have been introduced, based on suggestions made by our members.A diet menu has been introduced for the more health conscious among us.
BAR SERVICE
A new range of Imported drinks has been introduced at the club.
BLUE GINGER RESTAURANT
The Blue Ginger has been totally refurbished to the satisfaction of the members.
MOVIE AREA
Keeping in mind the popularity of movieweekends, the Club introduceda covered structuretoprevent disruption of movies due to rain.
The Club has made significant efforts to screen the best of the Hollywood as well as Bollywoodfilms.
SPORTS
The Club has introduced badminton and table tennis for the members. We some emergingchampions in these sports during the sports carnival.
GOLF COURSE
The course has been maintained satisfactorily despite the challenges.
The club has replaced the mats at the driving range.
Initiatives have been taken to ensure that the golfers play both nines, which will help in maintainingcourse condition and more accurate handicapping.
SUSTAINABILITY
174 Trees planted at the Golf course during a Tree Plantation Drive.
We have introduced New Eco friendly Carry Bags.

GENERAL
Beldih Club has now registered itself with BULK SMS packages to send instant updatesto the members about club happenings/events on member's cell phone.
Beldih Club has updated the Website and Facebook Pages for better interaction withthe members. Steps taken to ensure members receive e-mails from the club.
Fire training session has conducted for the club staff.
EMPLOYEES WELFARE
Accident Insurance policy taken as an employee welfaremeasure.
Bonus agreement was signed with Employee Union on 26th September-2015.
ENTERTAINMENT & MAJOR EVENTS
The committee always places special emphasis on conducting successful club nights and entertainmentevening for Club members. Some of the major events for the year were as under:

We have examined the Balance Sheet as at 31st March, 2016 and the Income & ExpenditureAccount for the year ended on that date, attached herewith, of Beldih Club of Jamshedpur.(Permanent Account No. AAAAB1021B). These financial statements are the responsibilityof the Management. Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statementsbased on our audit.
We have conducted our audit in accordance with the auditing standards generally acceptedin India. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonableassurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatements.
1. An audit includes examining, on a test basis, evidence supporting the amountsand disclosures in the financial statements. An audit also includes assessingthe accounting principles used and significant estimates made by the Management,as well as evaluating the overall financial statement presentation. We believethat our audit provides a reasonable basis for our opinion and report that :

2. We certify that the Revised Balance Sheet and the Revised Income & Expenditureaccount are in agreement with the books of account maintained at the head officeof the Club.
3.(a) We report the following observations / comments / discrepancies / inconsistencies;if any :
(b) Subject to above :-
(A) We have obtained all the information and explanation which to the best ofour knowledge and belief were necessary for the purpose of the audit.
(B) In our opinion, proper books of account have been kept by the head office ofthe assessee so far as appears from our examination of books.
(C) In our opinion and to the best of our information and according to explanationsgiven to us, the said accounts read with the notes thereon, give a true andfair view-
(i) in the case of the Balance Sheet, of the state of the above named assessee'saffairs as at 31st March, 2016, and;
(ii) in the case of the Income & Expenditure Account of the profit of the abovenamed assessee for the accounting year ending on 31st March, 2016.
4. The statement of particulars required to be furnished under section 44AB is annexedherewith in Form No. 3CD. In our opinion and to the best of our information andaccording to explanations given to us, these are true and correct.

SCHEDULE FORMING PART OF THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR 2015-16
A. SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES :
1. Basis of Accounting : Accounts have been prepared on historical cost and on thebasis of going concern with revenue considered and expenses accounted whereverpossible.
2. Use of Estimates : The preparation of financial statements requires managementto make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets andliabilities, disclosures of contingent liabilities as the date of this financial statementsand the reported amount of income and expenses for the years presented. Actualresults could differ from these estimates. Material estimates in these financialstatements that are susceptible to change as more information becomes availableinclude provisions for doubtful debts, liability for employee related benefits, incometax refundables etc.
3. Fixed Assets : The cost of fixed assets comprises its cost and all costs directlyattributable to bringing the asset to its current location and use.
4. Depreciation : Depreciation has been provided at the rates provided in theIncome Tax Act, 1961.
5. Investments : Long Term investments are valued at cost less provision, if any, forother than temporary diminution in value of such investments.
6. Income : Income from club activities are recognized when the services are renderedand on mercantile basis, except for Rent which is recognized on receipt basis.
7. Employee Benefits : The Club provides for the encashment of leave or leave withpay subject to certain rules. The employees are entitled to accumulate leave subjectto certain limits, for future encashment. Employees are also entitled to Gratuitybenefits. However, these are accounted on cash basis, i.e. when paid.
B. NOTES ON ACCOUNTS
1. The cash balance as mentioned in the Balance Sheet has been taken and verified bythe management.
2. Balances of Sundry Debtor and Sundry Creditors have been taken as per accounts,pending confirmation from the respective parties. The Club needs to strengthen itssystem of reconciliation of balances of the individual parties as per the SubsidiaryLedger with the balance as per the General Ledger of Debtors.

3. The balance of TDS Receivable has been taken as per accounts, pending assessmentby the Income Tax Department and has not been reconciled with the year-wise refundprocess. TDS deductions are accounted for as and when the information is receivedby the Club from the deductors.
4. The figures of the previous year have been regrouped and rearranged where necessary.
5. Figures have been rounded off to the nearest rupee.
6. Stock of consumables and other items are valued at cost by the management.
7. Contingent Liabilities - There is a demand on the club for ESI contribution for theperiod September 1, 2000 to March 31, 2007 for an amount of Rs. 25,94,459 (out ofwhich Rs. 17,35,550/- being principal demand has been provided for in the books).The financial obligation to the club toward principal for the period April 1, 2007 toMarch 31, 2010 along with interest would be higher and remains unaccounted.However, the case of ESI is sub-judice and stay order has been granted by HonourableHigh Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi.
8. The Service Tax Department has raised a demand on the Club for payment of ServiceTax on the Golf Tournaments organised by the Club and other services provided bythe Club, against which the Club has filed an appeal. There is a contingent liability ofRs. 84.44 lacs on this account.
9. The Club management had made a provision of an amount of Rs. 19 Lacs during FY2014-15 against which an amount of Rs. 12.59 Lacs has been paid during the year,the balance amount has been written back and a fresh amount of provision for Rs. 9Lacs has been made during the FY 2015-16 in the Income & Expenditure Account forthe year against an earlier claim for Service Tax on Restaurant service for previousyears.
10. The Club is situated on a leasehold Land belonging to M/s Tata Steel Ltd.
11. The management certifies that the cheques exceeding Rs. 20,000/- have been issuedby account payee or bank draft. It is not possible to verify whether the payment inexcess of Rs. 20,000/- have been made otherwise than by account payee cheque orbank draft as necessary evidence is not in the possession of the club.
12. The management certifies the compliance with the provisions of Chapter XVII-Bregarding deduction of tax at source and regarding the payment thereof to the creditof the Central Government.
