Joint committee of the EAB and the SA By Charter
Eight voting members: Four appointed by the EAB Four Appointed by the SA
Up to four corresponding members Two from each from EAB and SA
Anyone with an interest is encouraged to participate
Proposed Mission
Mission
1. Promote the importance of standards in meeting technical, economic, environmental, and societal challenges.
2. Secure and disseminate learning materials on the application of standards in the design and development aspects of educational programs.
3. Secure and provide short courses about standards needed in the design and development phases of professional practice.
4. Actively promote the integration of standards into academic programs.
5. Lead other education initiatives planned jointly by EAB and the SA as needed.

SEC Objectives Establish the IEEE as the global one-stop source for information on
education about standards
Target audience for education about standards: Students (undergraduate and graduate) Educators Practicing professionals
Educational material about standards includes: Standards-related Tutorials and Case Studies Student Application papers Expert Now modules based on Standards Workshops/seminars/conferences
Maintain a repository of information on available standards education programs and pursue potential partnership opportunities
Actively promote the standards education program and participate in key standards education organizations and conferences
Policy Paper
First draft of the IEEE policy on the role of technical standards in the curriculum is currently being reviewed
Target is to have the paper ready for final consideration and review at the November meeting

IEEE 1800 (System Verilog) tutorial nearly complete
Several new tutorials and case studies are being considered
A proposal for a new student application paper has been approved

Enhance website to include Investigate scalability options Promotion of the program Explanation of the tutorial, case study and student application
paper process (including how to get started) Finish definition of the (lightweight) process for developing
tutorials, case studies, and application papers Conducting market research in order to establish long-term
plans for future standards education workshops/conferences
Discuss, with the ExpertNow Editorial Board, our role in the acquisition and maintenance of Standards related ExpertNow modules
Develop a timeline of potential seminar and Conference opportunities and begin planning for these activities
