Dear Friend:We at Chalcedon thank you for your interest in our work. We would like to

take this opportunity to tell you about the work of the Chalcedon Foundation.

Chalcedon is a non-profit organization established in 1965. The nameChalcedon comes from the Council of Chalcedon of A.D. 451. At this churchcouncil, the unity of Christs divine and human natures was defined and hisLordship proclaimed. As opposed to the claims of the state to be god on earth,

Jesus Christ is the one, unique incarnation of God, and mans only Savior. In aday when the state presents itself as mans savior and hope, the standard ofChalcedon remains a fitting one.

Our goal is to educate people in the Biblical standards for life, both indi-vidual and social. We believe there can be no solution to personal or societal

problems other than those the Bible offers. To this end, we offer the following:

The Chalcedon Report, a monthly magazine examining critical issuesin Biblical perspective and presenting Chalcedons Position Papers.

Books, Journals and Symposia, including works by Chalcedon writers

    and other important authors.

Video and audiocassettes produced by Chalcedon. Nearly 1,000 tapesare currently available.

Monographs and Pamphlets, featuring short, hard-hitting essays on avariety of topics.

In addition, Chalcedon scholars lecture internationally and have appearedin a variety of media. New outreach endeavors are being developed to extendour educational and media ministries.

In an era of uncertainty and fear of doom, Chalcedon presents a message ofvictory and envisions our age as a great opportunity for the consistent BiblicalChristian. By your interest and support, you have become a part of this move-ment toward godly reconstruction.

We function because of your gifts. Thus, we appreciate and welcome yourfinancial support, without which we cannot exist. God requires tithing our in-

come and avoiding long-term debt. We have no large grants or regular sources

of income; and since we do not believe in deficit financing, your giving estab-lishes the parameters of our work, humanly speaking.

    Thank you,

    Mark R. RushdoonyPresident

The Chalcedon Report isbased on the supposition thatthe Bible speaks to the mindas well as the heart. Salvationis not the goal of the Chris-

tian; it is his starting point.Regenerated by the HolySpirit, the believer is savedby grace through faith in

Jesus Christ to serve his Creator. But service can be accom-plished only by obedience to his Lords every word as recorded in His inspiredScripture. There is no realm of life or thought outside the governance of God.Our actions, words, and thoughts are characterized by either faithfulness or

rebellion.Faithfulness necessitates that Christians seek to understand Scripture and

apply it. This application must begin with ones personal life. Self-governmentis the Christians first response to evil. Our application of the Faith must thenextend outward to our families, our callings, our associations, and our commu-nities. Only God can change a mans heart, but part of our call to faith must bea call to repentance as individuals and as a culture for our sins against God. Thedissolution of family authority, abortion, confiscatory statism, injustice, and

humanistic education affect not only individuals but society as a whole. Chris-tian social action will not save men for eternity, but it can spare them fromrapid self-destruction. The Chalcedon Reportstands at the forefront of thereawakening of Christians to their personal and social responsibilities.

The Chalcedon Reportis sent by request without charge.A tax-deductible donation to cover costs is requested.

Chalcedon Monograph SeriesChalcedon is pleased to announce the Chalcedon Monograph Series, with An-drew Sandlin as general editor. The series features short, but vital, hard-hittingessays by leading Christian Reconstructionist thinkers addressing relevant is-

sues in our modern era. As we stand poised to enter the third millennium afterChrist, Christian Reconstructionists offer the message of both earthly and eter-nal hope by means of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the law-word of infallibleHoly Scripture. This series presents monographs that instruct and inspire Chris-tians to greater earthly faithfulness in the task of godly dominion in the earth inthe name of their Savior-King, Jesus Christ.

The Chalcedon Monograph Series fills the crucial role of shorter, more popu-larly written works disseminating on the contemporary scene the uncompro-

mising message of historic, orthodox Christianity.Chalcedon Monographs are booklets ranging in length from 40 to 100 pages.

    A ChristianReconstructionist Primer

By Andrew Sandlin. This booklet is an introduction toChristian Reconstruction designed for those who want toknow what Reconstructionists believe. It is easy to under-stand and includes many Bible references and suggestedbooks for further study. It also answers some of the morecommon objections to Christian Reconstruction. The

author discusses the authority of Scripture and the historic Reformed Faith, sal-vation, covenant theology, the church, the Lordship of Christ, the believers role

in society, the role of the law, the kingdom of God, and the earthly victory ofJesus Christ. This is the ideal way to introduce people to what ChristianReconstructionists believe and dispel the myths surrounding this view of Chris-tian theology. Booklet, 49 pages, $4.00 (See order form for quantity discounts.)

Gods Plan for VictoryChalcedon Monograph Series, Number 1

By R. J. Rushdoony. An entire generation of victory-mindedChristians, spurred by the victorious postmillennial vi-sion of Chalcedon, has emerged to press what the PuritanFathers called the Crown Rights of Christ the King inall areas of modern life. Central to that optimistic gen-eration is Rousas John Rushdoonys jewel of a study, GodsPlan for Victory(originally published in 1977, and out

of print for several years). The elder statesman of the Christian Reconstructionmovement sets forth in potent, cogent terms the older Puritan vision of theirrepressible advancement of Christs kingdom by his faithful saints employing

the entire law-word of God as the program for earthly victory. Booklet, 41pages, $4.00 (See order form for quantity discounts.)

A Postmillennial PrimerChalcedon Monograph Series, Number 2

By Andrew Sandlin. As late as three decades ago, respectedAmerican conservatives were dismissing postmillennialeschatology as dead. It was, to say the least, a prematurefuneral announcement. Today, to borrow dispensationalistHal Lindseys parlance, postmillennialism is alive and wellon planet earth. The revival of Orthodox Calvinism has

reignited interest in the great Puritan vision of a Godly GoldenAge beforeChrists second Advent, and the godly activism of an entire generationof modern Christians is fueled by this postmillennial vision. This sharply contra-

dicts the pessimistic vision dominating 20th century conservative American Prot-estantism until the last two decades. The chief expression of that vision isdispensationalism, which today, if not truly dead, is certainly ailing. Christiansare penetrating every area of modern life including arts, politics, medicine, education, charity, technology armed not only with the truth of historic Chris-tianity, but with the expectation of earthly victory. The Biblical basis of this ex-pectation is presented in A Postmillennial Primer. Booklet, 50 pages, $6.00 (Seeorder form for quantity discounts.)

The Future of the Conservative MovementChalcedon Contemporary Issues Series, Volume 1

Edited by Andrew Sandlin. The Future of the Conservative Movementexplores thehistory, accomplishments and decline of the conservativemovement, and lays the foundation for a viable substituteto todays compromising, floundering conservatism.

Because the conservative movement, despite its manysound features (including anti-statism and anti-Commu-nism), was not anchored in an unchangeable standard, iteventually was hijacked from within and transformedinto a scaled-down version of the very liberalism it wasoriginally calculated to combat. The Late Great GOP and

the Coming RealignmentChalcedon Contemporary Issues Series, Volume 2By Colonel V. Doner. For more than three decades, most Chris-tian conservatives in the United States have hitched their politi-cal wagon to the plodding elephant of the Republican Party.

Alas, but the old elephant led them where they did not want to go. Time andagain, election after election, the same Republicans who as candidates ostentatiouslycourted Christian conservatives, when elected reversed themselves, unceremoniously

shutting the door in the face of the very Christians who worked so diligently to getthem into office, and pursued policies antithetical to conservative Christianity.

This work is a call to arms for those weary of political vacillation and commit-ted more firmly than ever to the necessity of a truly Christian social order. Book-let, 75 pages, $6.00 (See order form for quantity discounts.)

The Church as Gods ArmoryChalcedon Monograph Series, Number 3

By Brian Abshire. What if they gave a war and nobody came?In the great spiritual battles of the last century, with the

soul of an entire culture at stake, a large segment of the evan-gelical Church went AWOL. Christians retreated into a religiousghetto, conceding the world to the Devil and hoping anxiously that the rapturewould come soon and solve all their problems. But the rapture did not come, and our nation only slid further into sin.

Gods people must be taught how to fight and win the battles ahead. In thissmall volume, you will discover how the church is Gods armory, designed byHim to equip and train His people for spiritual war and prepare them for vic-tory. Booklet, 83 pages, $6.00 (See order form for quantity discounts.)

The Reign of the RighteousChalcedon Monograph Series, Number 4

By Andrew Sandlin. For too long Christians have assumed thatthe present world belongs to the Devil and unbelievers. Theyhave denied Christs present reign in the earth, and have ne-glected the dominion commission: that God has called hispeople to exercise dominion in the earth under his authority. The Reign of the Righteousexpresses the Biblical teaching on

this vital topic and explores its implications for the modern world. Booklet, 68pages, $6.00 (See order form for quantity discounts.)

    The Influence of Historic Christianity

on Early AmericaChalcedon Contemporary Issues Series, Volume 3

By Archie P. Jones. Early America was founded upon thedeep, extensive influence of Christianity inherited fromthe medieval period and the Protestant Reformation. Thatpriceless heritage was not limited to the narrow confinesof the personal life of the individual, nor to the ecclesias-

tical structure. Christianity positively and predominately(though not perfectly) shaped culture, education, science, literature, legal thought, legal education, politicalthought, law, politics, charity, and missions. Booklet, 88pages, $6.00 (See order form for quantitydiscounts.)

Christianity: Bulwark of LibertyChalcedon Contemporary Issues Series, Volume 4By P. Andrew Sandlin. Political liberalism has always oper-ated under the banner of individual freedom. This hassimply been a monstrously hypocritical chimera. Liberal-ism does not substitute liberty for tyranny or tolerance forintolerance. It substitutes the tyranny of the state forresponsibility to a community, and the intolerance of the

state for the tolerance created by multiple communities. The only liberty in which political liberalism is interestedis emancipation from the individuals responsibility toinstitutions whose authority competes with that of thestate: the family, the church, and business. Christianity is the only foundation uponwhich liberty can be built. For lovers of liberty, Biblical Christianity is the onlypanacea. Booklet, 88 pages, $6.00 (See order form for quantitydiscounts.)
