• A chalet [‘ʃae.lɛI] is wooden house or farm, like being built in the Alp countries.
• Characteristics are the balconies/galleries and the large gutter. A chalet is originally made of heavy wood by means of isolation. Also, heavy shutters are specific to a chalet as the house is occupied only occasionally.
• The word ‘Chalet’ originates from the word ‘Chahtelèt’ in the Arpitan speaking Alp
region and probably derived from the Medieval-Latin word ‘Casalis’, meaning shelter.
• Later, the word is altered in much larger accomodation, in which one or more families could live. Also, these were situated in the alpine meadow area and were used only in summer.
• The Carpet Sign Chalet-collection has a robust character, very much evoking the chalet feeling. The coarse but soft felt makes the rug both figurative and literally tough. The rug has a knitted character with decorative stripes and casual fringes at both sides.

• A “Forêt” is a large area of land covered with trees or other woody vegetation, covering an area of four billion hectares (15 million square miles) or approximately 30 percent of the world's land area.
• Forests are the dominant terrestrial ecosystem of Earth, and are distributed across the globe. Forests account for 75% of the gross primary productivity of the Earth's biosphere, and contain 80% of the Earth's plant biomass.
• Forests at different latitudes form distinctly different ecozones: boreal forests near the poles tend to consist of evergreens, while tropical forests near the equator tend to be distinct from the temperate forests at mid-latitude. The amount of precipitation and the elevation of the forest also affects forest composition.
• The Carpet Sign Forêt-Collection figuratively is a mixture of trees [40mm] and bushes [20mm], giving the rug a special layer. By using different colours, the 20 mm layer delicately shimmers through the 40 mm deck. The thick felt yarn dances in several directions, like trees being blown by the wind. The 40 mm pile length of robust but soft felt gives the rug its warm, inviting character.
