Established in 1994, the Key Colony Beach Fishing and Boating Social Club provides fishing, boating and fellowshipamong its 240 members. The club holds monthly fishing tournaments sponsored by local businesses, boat cruises, socialparties, monthly meetings and dinners, and trips to places like Little Palm Island and Flamingo Island. They raise moneyfor local charities and organizations.The key to success at the club: “Without a doubt, the dedication of our wonderful members,” said Commodore BillKnickman. The club sponsors events like the annual President's Day Clambake, which draws more than 500 people each
year. “We also hold the World Famous Barracuda Races and Wheelbarrow of Cheer at Key Colony Beach Day with all proceeds going to local charities,” hesaid. Key Colony Beach Day is Sunday, March 6. In the spring, the club sponsors a kids fishing tournament where children from Marathon and Key ColonyBeach are invited on the Marathon Lady for a day of fishing. Following the trip, an awards luncheon is held at Key Colony Inn where the winners receivetrophies and prizes. “Every child is a winner and all go home very happy,” Knickman said. All Aboard Boat Rentals was established in 2013 and offers daily, weekly, andmonthly boat rentals. “Boats are our business, fishing is our pastime, and the Florida Keys are the pieceof paradise we call home,” said owner Dave Clarkson. “Making sure you have asmuch fun on the water as we do is what drives us.”Rental boats come equipped with GPS, chart plotter and fish finder, along with allthe necessities for a safe and successful trip. February is also where we begin recruiting our Marathon Seafood Festival volunteers. Marathon's biggest and best event is not possible without our beloved volunteers. We arealso accepting sponsorships for the festival as well.
