Educator Appreciation ReceptionThe 29th annual Educator Appreciation
Reception will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s “110 North East.” The reception is an opportunity for business people to publicly thank area educators for their hard work and dedication to the children and youth of the greater Jacksonville area.
School staff, retired educators and members of the business community are invited to attend. The event will include informational exhibits. Refreshments will be served. Come join the fun!

The 25th annual Educator Appreciation Reception will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 4 - 6 p.m. at Hamilton’s “110 North East”. Spradlin Auction Center & Golden Bridges Business After Hours - Sept. 27
Spradlin Auction Center and Golden Bridges hosted a Business After Hours featuring the artwork of local professor and artist Dr. Larry Calhoun. Guests enjoyed viewing paintings, pottery and sculptures which were available for purchase. Auctioneer Jess Spradlin has over 30 years of auction experience and can assist with auctions of antiques, household or personal items. Golden Bridges is a Senior Move Management company who assists older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of relocation and/or “aging in place”.

MACMURRAY RANKED NUMBER 8 NATIONALLY BY WASHINGTON MONTHLY. MacMurray was ranked No. 8 best Bachelor’s College in the na-tion and the No. 2 Best Bang for the Buck College in the Midwest in Washington Monthly’s 2019 College Guide and Rank-ings. This ranking places MacMurray as the top Bachelor’s College in Illinois, which includes, “institutions that award almost exclusively Bachelor’s Degrees”.

PASSAVANT COLLEAGUE OF THE MONTH – Connie Radford, OTR/L, Pe-diatric Rehabilitation, was named Passa-vant Colleague of the month. Earlier this year, Radford and her mother donated over 100 weekend hours to paint the Pe-diatric Rehabilitation walls and hallways. She has transformed her department into a cartoon world as she works to help young-sters with motor skills, sensory process-ing and cognitive deficits.

THE JACKSONVILLE AREA CON-VENTION & VISITORS BUREAU is partnering with the Hampton Inn by Hil-
ton for Share the Warmth Blanket Drive. They will be accepting new and hand-made blankets as well as cash donations to use towards the purchase of new blan-kets. Donations can be dropped off at the Jacksonville Area CVB Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and at the Hampton Inn 24/7. CASA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. CASA of Morgan and Pike Counties, programs of Advocacy Network for Chil-dren, are recruiting volunteers for upcom-ing training sessions to be held in Jack-sonville. Informational meetings will be held on October 30 at 12:15 p.m. at 800 West State, Suite 2 in Jacksonville with training sessions held November 11-14 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers appointed by a judge to speak for abused or neglect-ed children in the court system. THE SANTA STROLL IS COMING TO DOWNTOWN JACKSONVILLE on November 30th for Small Business Saturday. This Jacksonville Main Street driven event will be selling Santa Hats with coupon offerings to use at participat-ing businesses that day. MORGAN COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIA-TION WILL HOLD ITS FOURTH AN-NUAL GALA “Denim & Diamonds” on January 25, 2020 at McClelland Dining Hall in Jacksonville. Sponsorships rang-ing from $100-500 are available. couple. Proceeds benefit youth programs and events of the Fair.

Join us at the Chamber at noon on November 13 as Attorney Samantha Bobor of Rammelkamp Bradney Law presents an update on wage and hour changes, specifically dealing with the new IL Minimum Wage law to go into effect on January 1, 2020. Topics will include changes to Illinois minimum wage laws; recent changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act; and a refresher regarding paid time off, meals and breaks, and employee classification. A registration form is included in the newsletter. You may bring your own lunch. Tea and water will be provided.

On Tuesday, October 1, Routt Catholic High School invited representatives from the City of Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, the Tracy Family Foundation, and participants in the construction project to join them in celebrating the completion of their newly renovated science labs. Construction began in May 2019 and is the first of it’s kind in the two science labs since the school was built at it’s current location in 1967. The renovations were made possible through memorials, grants, and members of the Routt community who were dedicated to seeing an improved learning space for the science students of Routt Catholic High School. Lincoln Land Animal Clinic, Ltd, co-owned by Colleen S. Koch, DVM, DACVB and Joseph J. Koch, DVM, held an Open House/Ribbon cutting ceremony on October 5 at their new facility located at 1148 Tendick Street. Lincoln Land Animal Clinic Ltd. Is a small and large animal veterinary practice whose goal is to provide high quality medical and surgical care to all of its patients in a caring, compassionate, efficient, friendly and fear free environment. The new facility features separate cat and dog waiting areas and exam rooms, as well as distinct and separate kennel spaces for cats, small dogs, and large dogs. In addition, the facility features a state of the art surgical suite and treatment area. The Design Shed, owned and operated by Julie and Glen Barber, is a floral and gift shop built inside a shed on their farm.
