THANK YOU for another great year!
As 2014 quickly draws to a close, I want to take a moment to thank everyone
for your involvement in making the Chamber’s year a success. The Chamber is
dedicated to, and sustained by the idea that we can accomplish far more together
than we ever could alone. And thanks to you, we have been able to do that this
year. From helping start the Downtown Dickinson Association to continuing our
great work supporting production agriculture in the region, from initiating
partnerships to create more professional development opportunities to taking a
public stance to support the passage of the public schools bond measure, and the
launch of an informative, innovative website—2014 was a banner year for the
Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce.
So thank you, for the important part you’ve played in making this year
special. Thank you for your investment in the Chamber. Thank you for your
volunteer time. Thank you for attending events. Thank you for enhancing our
quality of life by providing the services and products you provide. This
community is better for having you here, and the Chamber is better for being able
to list you as a member.
So on behalf of myself, Chamber staff, the Board of
Directors, our volunteers, and the community at large—
Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, and let’s look forward
to an awesome 2015!
happy hol idays Cooper Whitman, Executive Director

Leadership Dickinson
Leadership Dickinson's theme of the day was tourism. We traveled down the enchanted highway with Gary Greff, the creator of the enchanted highway, and Terri Thiel from Dickinson CVB. As we traveled down the highway Mr. Greff talked to us about the creation of his sculptures, and also Terri Thiel talked to us about general tourism in North Dakota.
Before embarking down the Enchanted Highway we stopped at the Enchanted Castle for a quick tour and some lunch. The castle was once the Regent school, before it was shut down. Gary, with his creativity, turned the place into a castle, hotel, steakhouse, and tavern. Walking around the place made you feel like you were in a real castle!
Today taught us about how much tourism in North Dakota plays a role in our community, and Gary also taught us to never give up no matter how many people doubt you along the way. It made us realize how much there is to do around our small town that we never even realized.

CHI St. Joseph’s Health Earns ‘Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®’
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center, now called CHI St. Joseph’s Health, has been recognized as a 2013 Top
Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United
States. CHI St. Joseph’s Health was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals:
Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for both Pneumonia
and Surgical Care. CHI St. Joseph’s Health is one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer
distinction, and is one of only two hospitals in the state of North Dakota to be recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top
Performer on Key Quality Measures®. The other North Dakota hospital recognized as a 2013 Top Performer was the Fargo VA
Health Care System.
The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that
increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure,
pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, stroke, venous thromboembolism and perinatal care, as well as for inpatient
psychiatric services and immunizations.
To be a 2013 Top Performer, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria based on 2013 accountability measure data,
including:
Achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures;
Achieving performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure where there were at least
30 denominator cases; and
Having at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and (within that measure set) all
applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above.
“Delivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts
of CHI St. Joseph’s Health for their excellent performance on the use of
evidence-based interventions,” said Mark R. Chassin, M.D., FACP,
M.P.P., M.P.H., president and CEO, The Joint Commission.
“We understand what matters most to patients at St. Joseph’s is the
quality and safety of the care they receive. That is why we have made it
a top priority to improve positive patient outcomes through
evidence-based care processes,” said Reed Reyman, President of CHI St.
Joseph’s Health. “St. Joseph’s is proud to be named a Top Performer as
it recognizes the knowledge, teamwork and dedication of our entire hospital staff.”
