CHAPS UK Championship Show Qualifiers are marked * and are for the CHAPS UK Championship Show which will be held at Arena UK on 29th August-1st September 2018. Please refer to the rulings on using your CHAPS Qualification Card. The Affiliated Show Number which must be completed on your Card for any show at which you qualify can be found on the front cover of the schedule.

Qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 3rd-7th October 2018 are as shown for each Show - no qualifiers at the Spring Show or South West Regional. Qualification will not pass below 5th place.

BSPS Winter Restricted Qualifiers can be taken from any Ridden class marked * at each Regional Show - providing the exhibit is eligible to compete at these Finals.

The King of the Ring Qualifiers. Qualification is open to CHAPS UK Members/Registered exhibits only. The Supreme and Reserve Supreme, Ridden and In-hand Champions (or In-hand and Ridden Champion & Reserve as applicable to relevant Shows) from the CHAPS Spring Show, Regional Shows and other relevant selected shows will qualify for the KoR Finals to be held at the current year’s CHAPS Championship Show (should any exhibit fail to enter by 6th August then the qualification may be awarded to the next eligible exhibit at the discretion of the Championship Show Committee). Qualification Cards will be awarded in the ring. In the event of either exhibit having already qualified the award will be passed down to the next eligible exhibit in the Supreme In-hand Championship at that show. Exhibits MUST be CHAPS UK Registered to be eligible for qualification. They MUST also be owned/exhibited by CHAPS UK Showing Member(s) at the Finals at the CHAPS Championship Show.

Youngstock Evaluations: Only ONE section (Breeding OR Performance) may be entered by an exhibit at each show. Exhibits are permitted to enter both sections during the year providing this is at different shows; however, geldings are NOT permitted to enter ‘Breeding’ Evaluations. Premiums are awarded as follows: FIRST Premium, 8 marks or above. SECOND Premium, 7.5 to 7.999 marks. THIRD Premium, 7.0 to 7.4999 marks. Scores below 7.0 marks will not be awarded any Premium status. Exhibits will be judged individually and on their own merits accordingly.

Sportshorse/Pony Qualification: Highest placed SH/P from all in-hand classes marked * can also qualify for the Sportshorse/Pony In-hand Finals; and from all ridden classes marked * can also qualify for the Sportshorse/Pony Ridden Finals at the relevant year’s CHAPS Championship Show.

Novice Ridden classes: are qualifiers for the CHAPS UK Novice Ridden Finals at the relevant year’s CHAPS Championship Show. Novice is taken as “any horse or pony, 4 years old or over; not to have won an Open class as of 1st January in the current season (year). To be shown in any suitable bridle”.

Veteran qualification: will be awarded in the following categories: 15-19 years; 20-29 years; 30+ years.

Amateur/Home Produced is taken as: Produced and exhibited by an individual who does not receive any remuneration from the showing, riding/schooling or production of show horses. Individuals employed in other equestrian areas shall be classified as “Home Produced eligible” for the sake of the CHAPS Home Produced classes/finals/championships. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and may result in disqualification from future classes.

Ladies’ Side Saddle Qualifiers and Final: Qualification (from Side Saddle classes only) will be awarded to the top 3 exhibits (who have not already qualified). Exhibits must be ridden by a female rider, 16 years old or over. Qualification Cards to be signed in the ring. Riders/owners need not be members, horse/pony need not be CHAPS Registered at time of qualification; but in order to compete in the Final (to be held at the CHAPS Championship Show) both membership or owner and rider, and registration of horse/pony must be in place within 14 days of qualification. Not to be ridden by the judge.

Junior/Intermediate Rider of the Year: Qualification will be awarded to the 2 highest placed Non-Native AND 2 highest placed Nat, Cob, Trad exhibits from within rosette placings from each class.

BLUE CHIP AMATEUR/HOME PRODUCED RIDDEN/IN-HAND SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIPQualification will be awarded to the highest placed CHAPS Registered exhibit ridden/shown by a

CHAPS Member (not already qualified) from the Champion, Reserve or 2nd Reserve from the Blue Chip Amateur/Home Produced Ridden/In-hand Championship. If the qualified exhibit fails to enter for the Preliminary Judging at the CHAPS Champs (by 6th August) they will forfeit their qualification

and it will be offered to next highest placed (not already qualified) eligible exhibit.This will take place at the CHAPS Championship Show, 1st September 2018; where there will be a preliminary judging and the top 6 exhibits will go forward to the Saturday Evening Performance.

Rules & Conditions of EntryWhere the term “Members’ Handbook” is used it refers to the current CHAPS UK Members’ Handbook - plus any relevant subsequent updates.1. This Show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse & Pony Society UK. Both owner and rider/handler need not be a

member of CHAPS nor must the horse/pony be registered with CHAPS to compete (with the exception of Horse of the Year Show qualifiers -membership with CHAPS, TGCA or TSR MUST be in place and the horse registered with CHAPS or TGCA to compete in Horse of the Year Show qualifiers); but in order to qualify they must both be members and the horse/pony registered with CHAPS BEFORE this show for qualification to be valid (except BSPS qualifiers where Memberships & Registrations, if not already in place, MUST be in place for the Finals for qualification to be valid).

The CHAPS UK Championship Show will be held at Arena UK, Grantham - 29th August-1st September 2018. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS Admin for CHAPS Qualification Card.

2. Please refer to current Members’ Handbook (and any updates) for full rulings on all qualifiers.3. The ruling of the Judges and Officials is FINAL. CHAPS UK reserves the right to substitute judges as required.4. Full and correct attire must be worn by competitors and their grooms. Hard hats must be worn whilst mounted on

any part of the showground. Grooms must wear suitable hats whilst attending in the Ring. All Junior Exhibitors (under 18 years as at 1st Jan of current year) MUST wear correctly fitting current safety standard hats.

5. The Organisers reserve the right to amalgamate or alter any class(es) or ring(s) without explanation.6. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times.7. Neither the Organisers, Landowners, Committee or Agents of this Society accept liability for any accident, loss,

damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, handlers, spectators, land or any person/property whatsoever, whether caused by negligence, breach of contract or in any way whatsoever.

8. CHAPS Judges should refer to the current Members’ Handbook to ensure they comply with all categories of exhibit they are not permitted to preside over; and to ensure that the fairest possible results are obtained.

9. No horse or pony under the age of 4 years may be ridden on the showground. No galloping is allowed on the showground except as required by the Judge.

10. Any person participating in any way at these Shows who conducts themselves in a manner which might bring the Society into disrepute will be asked to leave the showground and may be subject to disciplinary.

11. All classes will be as listed below unless otherwise stated: IN-HAND classes - 60% conformation, correctness to type and movement and 40% manners and way of going. RIDDEN classes - 50% ride, manners and way of going; 50% type and conformation. Junior/Intermediate Rider of the Year qualifiers: 60% ride, manners, temperament, suitability and partnership; 40% type and conformation. HORSE of the YEAR SHOW qualifiers will be judged on a marks sheet system.

12. Exhibitors shall take good care of, and shall not cause any damage or suffer any damage to be done to the site/showground or to any furniture, fittings, equipment or other property therein and shall be responsible to pay for any damage thereto (including accidental damage) caused by any act or neglect in use. This includes stabling.

13. Horse walks must be adhered to. Pedestrians should not walk in the horse walks.14. All horses/ponies attending are advised to hold current vaccination certificates.15. No mucking out of lorries/trailers allowed on showground.16. Any complaint must be made in accordance to regulations within the CHAPS UK Members’ Handbook.17. NO refund of entry fee without a vet’s or doctor’s certificate; then a 50% refund only is applicable. In the event of

cancellation of any Show, refunds will be made less a 25% administration fee.18. Entry into any CHAPS Regional Show is deemed acceptance to be bound by CHAPS Rules and those of the Show.19. Any entries made on show day(s) are accepted in CASH ONLY.
