Establishment of FDDI’s Operators Training Center at Rae Bareli- Sultanpur Road under the PLSDP programme:

An Operators Training Center has been established by Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) on the Rae Bareli-Sultanpur Road which has commenced its first training programme from November 3, 2011. The Operators Training Center has been established under the Placement Linked Skill Development Programme (PLSDP) scheme of Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Government of India to address the problem of lack of trained manpower faced by the Indian leather and leather products industry. The Center at present is offering the basic operators course in cutting and closing to unemployed youth. There was an overwhelming response from Rae Bareli and nearby towns which is evident from the

fact that as against the capacity of 180 trainees per month at the Center, four thousand applications were received within one week.

The first batch, which consists of 400 rural youth

from Rae Bareli-Sultanpur region reflects the fact

that the students are in dire need for training to

become self reliant and increase their income

after successfully completing their training at the

Operators Training Center. FDDI’s efforts in creating

a trained work force through short and intensive

training programmes has been a great success and

applauded at various fora as an innovative and

effective approach.
