Chapter 14Chemical Reactions
SWBAT: Identify and complete combination, decomposition, single replacement, double replacement and combustion reactions
Types of reactions
•There are several general types of reactions, the ones you need to be familiar with are:– Combination– Decomposition– Single Replacement– Double Replacement– Combustion
Combination Reaction
• 2 or more reactants form one product
Decomposition Reaction
•One reactant yields 2 or more products
H2CO3 → H2O + CO2
Cu(s) + 2AgNO3(aq) --> Cu(NO3)2(aq) + 2Ag(s) 2Na(s) + 2H2O(l) --> 2NaOH(Aq) + H2(g)
Single Replacement Reaction
AgNO3 + NaCl → AgCl + NaNO3
Double Replacement Reaction
Combustion Reaction
Organic molecule reacting with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water and heat
What type of Reaction?
